Such a well written thriller. It wasn’t too fast paced that you felt like you couldn’t keep up with the story but not too slow that you lose interest. I love when a thriller keeps you guessing all the way to the end and this did that so well! I loved the characters and the mystery/crime. The background story was incredible as well. The characters are all written very well to elicit strong emotions from the reader. Truly a wonderful mystery/thriller!

This is the third book in the outstanding Laurel Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti. Collectively they have a Goodreads rating of about 4.2. Snow is a genius who graduated from college at about 16 with ALL the degrees. (We need to fact check that. lol. I needed to take notes but she definitely graduated earlier then my six years) She is now a FBI agent and along with her boyfriend: Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers (not a astronaut like the name suggests) get knee deep in another FBI procedural.

I'll just throw you the quick deets on this one because this series is must read material so it doesn't really matter. We have a serial killer just like the other books and this one brutally stabs prominent men about 50 times and then sticks candy hearts up their throat. So mean!

This one is also outstanding because she also goes head to toe with her sister: Abigail who is just as smart as Laurel is. Laurel is determined to bring her sister down for murder but she is having a hard time because she is so so smart and covers all her tracks. The best part of this book is the back and forth confrontation between those two. There is a great quote in the book (Again I need to take notes) where Abigail tells Laurel that even if she is a killer that she will never get caught. She is just too smart.

I already mentioned that I love this series but it's not my favorite of the three. The other two do a great job illustrating how socially awkward Laurel is but this one doesn't really go there. She appears almost..... normal. That's not how I like Laurel Snow. I also didn't really like the ending. I can't spoil but in my opinion it didn't portray Laurel as a strong woman. I would have changed it some but that's just me. And the ending also isn't a result of any good FBI procedural..... After everything that happens it is just luck that we get the big reveal.

Positives: Book checks all the marks: Not too long, short chapters, and even just goes from A-B to the ending. No split timelines or fancy foreshadowing. Just a entertaining, straight forward book.

Just a great FBI series which I'm glad I fell into. Not the best one of the three but still better then most out there in my opinion. Highly recommended! We just need to get Rebecca Zanetti to stop writing romance books and concentrate on FBI procedurals.

I really appreciate Kensington Books, Zebra for giving me a advance reader copy to read for free for a honest review and it has a publication date of July 25, 2023.

Review:

In the third book in the life of FBI agent Laurel Snow, she has to investigate yet another case of a serial killer.

The book was mostly well paced and it gripped my attention most of the time, let’s say the first 3/4 of it, the ending was a little underwhelming to me. However, the investigation and how everything and everyone seemed to connect somehow was the highlight to me. Some parts I saw coming and didn’t surprise me much.

Another aspect of the book I’d like to mention is that is the “most romantic” of all the three. Rebecca deepened the relationship between Laurel and Huck here, so for the romance lovers, that was a plus.

I mostly liked the book and would recommend it for the fans of the series.

*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ***

This third book in the Laurel Snow series once again has Laurel on the search for a serial killer. The victims are men, all approximately the same age, and all were found stabbed inside purple tents with heart-shaped Valentine’s candy stuffed down their throats.

What do each of these men have in common, and why would someone want to kill them? Laurel once again enlists the help of Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers.

When Laurel’s father comes on the scene, he’s also stabbed. Valentine's candy is scattered around him, but Laurel reaches him in time to save his life. She suspects her psychotic half-sister, and that their father’s attempted murder is a copycat crime.

Zanetti has a way of keeping a reader guessing the killer’s identity until the end. I’ve been surprised each time.

I thought this might be the last book, but the author left it open for a fourth. However, I hope Laurel will finally be able to put the sister behind bars (or in a mental facility). That storyline is getting a little weary, and it’s time to put it to rest. It seemed as if she might do that in this book, but we’re left hanging. For that reason, I’m rating this one four stars—the first two books I rated five.

Thanks to Kensington and Net Galley for an advanced reader copy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I literally could not put this book down. Laurel Snow and her new FBI team, along with boyfriend Captain Huck Rivers find themselves in a race to find a killer leaving bodies all over the city. Her half sister and potential psychopath Abigail is up to something and Laurel is determined to get to the truth. I loved the excitement and fast pace of this book. I loved seeing Laurel and Huck work to build a real relationship. I really want more books in this series. A summer must read!

Wow.. I couldn’t put this one down, once I started.
I love Laurel. She and Huck are so good together. I still really dislike Abigail, lol.
This one was nonstop action. Very well written. I can’t wait til the next.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read and review this one.

At this point in the series, I'm only reading for Laurel, Huck, and Abigail. That is to say, the book's mystery is bad but I still like getting to visit these characters and see their growth. So it was worth the read.

Wowza! Mind blown! There were twists and turns in this book that I just did not see coming. The plot and character development in this series is wonderful, as you would expect from anything by Rebecca Zanetti. In this third book, the relationship between Laurel and Huck further develops while they and their respective teams (FBI for her and Fish and Wildlife for him) focus on solving crimes. I don’t want to give spoilers, but Laurel’s half-sister Abigail is still around causing problems, and her biological father, Rev. Caine, makes his first appearance. Huck’s
ex Rachel, a reporter, also adds to the challenges they face in solving the media-dubbed “Broken Heart Murders.” While this could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading “You Can Run” and “You Can Hide” first!

Special Agent Laurel Snow now leads a new Pacific Northwest Violent Crimes Unit out of Genesis Valley. She’s close to home, has a blossoming relationship with Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers, and she’s adopted a cat. But, a new serial killer makes an appearance. This one stabs men to death in a purple tent and stuffs Valentine candy into the victim’s mouth. Laurel has enough on her plate trying to identify the killer before the next death, without her unquestionably evil half sister, Dr. Abigail Caine, dogging her steps.

Rebecca Zanetti masterfully capitalizes on the reader’s fondness for Laurel and Huck, teaming them up again for a suspense-filled murder mystery while finally declaring their affection for one another as a couple. She captures that fine balance whereby Laurel and Huck are incomparably competent, yet still gently vulnerable. This keeps the anxiety and engagement going right until the end. Plentiful suspects and many dropped crumbs result in an outcome that definitely surprised me! Well done, Ms. Zanetti!

Omg this completely blew me away! I'd never come across this series before but immediately fell in love with the characters and the dynamic between the half sisters. It's cleverly written and has so many layers and sub plots that you can't help but be completely entertained. The writing style is easy to read and it takes the reader along for such an engrossing journey. I loved the twists and can't wait to get stuck in to the rest of the series! This was a complete masterpiece of fiction

Special Agent Laurel Snow is on the hunt for The broken heart killer. A serial killer who stabs his victims to death, places them in a purple tent near a church and stuffs Valentine's candy in their mouths.

Fast paced action and suspense with so many suspects that everyone is in danger. Never a dull moment for Agent Snow as she runs her team to stop the killer in their tracks.

I highly recommend this suspenseful thriller.

I've been anxiously awaiting the next saga in the Laurel Snow series. Leading her own team, Laurel is on the hunt for a serial killer that has targeted the ex-husband of one of her staff. Things hit close to home and she feels she must protect her new friends. Huck and the Fish and Wildlife team assist due to being short staffed. It was great to see Huck and Laurel grow in their acknowledgement of their relationship. They both struggle with expressing personal feelings but seem to bring out the best in each other. This series makes me investigate my feelings about nature vs. nurture. The antagonists have suffered so much that it is hard not to feel sorry for them. The book is very well written and the characters are multi-faceted, fallible and intriguing. This is my favorite new series!

Laurel is back investigating a ritualistic series of murders. Along with trying to get evidence to prove her half sister is a sociopath. AND her father comes back! Plus a couple more shockers along the way. Love this page turning series and can’t get enough. Laurel and Huck made the perfect couple. I’m looking forward to what’s next!

Man Oh Man!! I love this series. This is the third book and it get better every time.

Laurel Snow is a FBI Agent smart as a whip. Working several cases at once including trying to prove her sister is a murderer. She such a unique character you can’t help but be intrigued.

Huck and Laurel are finally in a good place but she’s not sure she knows how to be in a relationship and whispering in her ear just makes her insecure.

“Why do you do that?” he drawled. Her eyes widened. “Do what?” “Use words other people don’t know.”

Her half sister Abigail is a manipulative psychopath. She gives me the creeps just reading about her.

“Logically, that makes sense, right?” She patted him, glee curving her lips. “But you’re not a logical man. No. You’re an alpha male—a throwback. She’s your woman.”

This story had so much going on. Crazy around every corner. Just when you think you know what’s going on you don’t. I was so shocked. If your a lover of creepy romantic suspense you need to jump on this. One of the best books I’ve read this year.

I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of twists and turns. I loved the characters and even the animals. The ending was better than I expected. I am grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.

I am loving this series and I cannot wait for book 4 to come out! Thank you NetGalley and the publishing powers that be because waiting until July would have been pure torture! The Laurel Snow series is about an extremely intelligent woman working for the FBI in her hometown, battling serial killers and matters of the heart as well as a sociopathic sister. I do think this is a series that has to be read in order, there are just too many stories lines and back stories to just jump right in! In this book, You Can Die, Laurel is trying to catch a serial killer that is attacking men ((who aren’t the best)), stabbing them then stuffing Valentine’s Day candy hearts down their throats and placing them around their heads. They are also left under tents near churches. The victims all seem to be connected until Laurel’s long lost father turns up and is attacked. Laurel interrupted the attack and now has to figure out who this killer is and if her father was a part of the plan or a convenient addition. I am so invested in every character and I cannot wait for the next book! Loved this one!

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Books for the copy of You Can Hide by Rebecca Zanetti. I read the previous book in this series and while it was good, I didn't love it. I really liked the story in this one, but for some reason I still can’t warm up to Laurel and Huck. If you have been reading this series from the start and love them, this is probably the book for you. I haven't given up on this author yet, but I’m not sure this book was for me.

You Can Die is a book 3 in the Lauren Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti. It is told in 3rd person from multiple POVs

Tropes:
✔️ law enforcement
✔️ genius heroine
✔️ small-town

Rebecca Zanetti's latest book in the Laurel Snow series, set against the snowy Pacific Northwest backdrop, is a thrilling read that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end. The author combines elements of romance and suspense with a twisty plot that will leave readers guessing and wanting more.

I’ve really enjoyed Laurel Snow’s character development, who is both analytical and human, and her troubled family dynamic adds an extra layer of intrigue to the story. The secondary characters are also well-developed and endearing. Their team is absolutely coming together and feeling more like family, except for Laurel's sociopathic half-sister, Abigail, who adds a disturbing but fascinating element to the story.

The romance between Lauren and Huck is both sweet, sexy and well blended the romance within the suspenseful plot. I can’t wait to see what happens next between these two strong willed characters.

The race to find the “Broken Heart Murderer” was gripping and had me figuratively biting my nails. I had a hard time putting the book down. However, the confrontation with the ending felt a bit rushed, and there were a lot of loose ends left to tie up hopefully in the next book.

Overall, "You Can Die" is an hast and twisty and unpredictable plot that had me hooked from start to finish. A must read for fans of the series and readier who enjoy TV series like "Bones" and "The Blacklist."

"I know you're trained and smart. Even so, I'd like to be there."
She grinned, even though the spray had stung.
"You want to put your big body in between me and danger?"
"Every fucking time."

4.25 stars!

When you need book four, but book three doesn't officially release for over two more months, so you're stuck waiting. When I tell you I checked my email every day until I was approved for this book, I'm not lying. Thanks for approving me for an arc, Netgalley!

These romantic suspense crime-solving partnership books are my kryptonite I swear.

Respectfully, I'm gonna need Rebecca Zanetti to drop everything she's doing and release book four right now because I need more Huck/Laurel moments in my life. ESPECIALLY after what went down in this book. Definitely was not expecting the series to take THAT turn (usually a trope I kinda feel meh about), but I surprisingly loved it, and Huck in those moments. DAMN. Love that man LOL. The Huck/Laurel moments were so precious, domestic, and everything I want in my romance in a romantic suspense.

I swear I imagine Laurel as Temperance Brennan aka Bones from 'Bones' and read all her dialogue in Bones voice. LOVE LOVE LOVE female leads like Bones and Laurel. And Huck, love that man. SO MUCH. He's a gem, and especially so in this book.

I lean more towards a 4 star rather than a 5 because the confrontation with the serial killer and the ending of the book feels a bit unsatisfying. I felt this way with the other two books in this series. I really wish the confrontation/climax was not at 96%. Definitely should have been a bit more drawn out, even if it was 5-10 pages more. And the ending. I just think there needed to be 20-30 more pages of climax and resolution to feel more satisfying.

I'm hoping the storyline with Abigail progresses a bit more in book four because that storylines seems to just be going in circles instead of progressing forward. Otherwise, Ms. Zanetti keep going. I need more Laurel/Huck ASAP.
