When Amy finds a job in West Cork, she's more than happy to take it. She will be a cleaner/nanny for June and Miles Carroll. Their house is in a remote location but it overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and it is beautiful. She's never stayed in such a nice home. After arriving, she's told that she's not just staying with them and their two young children but Miles' teenage son, Liam, will be staying with them as well. Amy's not really comfortable with that but needs this job. Shortly after starting the job, she discovers threatening messages spray painted in a nearby village. Amy thought she would be safe by running away from her past. But will her past catch up with her?

SOMEONE YOU TRUST was an interesting story. It started off really great. I was curious about why Amy had changed her name and why she kept relocating. The story is told in dual timelines and we get a look at Amy's past, starting from when she was just fourteen years old. I really felt bad for Amy. She suffered a great deal during her life. In the end, I was happy with the conclusion. I was given the answers I was looking for and not left to wonder what happened!

TW: Mental and physical abuse, drugs, and animal abuse.

I don't know if it was because it was on the short side or because I couldn't put it down but I flew through this in one day. Told from two different timelines, Amy finds herself as a live in nanny/cleaner to a wealthy couple and as always in these books, all is not as it seems. This was highly addictive and well written. My only complaint is there seems to be bias of a sort to addiction and without giving spoilers, I'll leave it at that. The descriptions of an abused woman however, were well thought out, sympathetic and in my experience, spot on. This was a great mystery and thriller and I recommend it to my fellow readers. Four Stars.

Thank you Netgalley and Gallery Books for this ARC.

Amy has taken on the job as live-in nanny/cleaner for the Carolls. The Carroll's have two toddlers, a vast bank account, and a modern estate called Sea View to show for it. So, of course, it's a cushy position for Amy and she's over the moon. Until bits and pieces begin to surface that the Carrolls managed to conveniently leave out--their teenage son Liam, who lives in their home, who had trouble at home with his mom and therefore sent to Sea View, who has since been causing trouble in town, ANF may very well be trouble for Amy.

Past and present weave through this story as the plot and mystery unfold. They collide in an edge-of-your-seat explosion. Some of it I saw coming and some wad a total surprise. A darn good thriller; I was invested in the characters and the story from start to finish.

Thank you to Gallery books and NetGalley for an ARC of this. I was excited to read because I gave Rachel Ryans first book five stars. This one fell a little short for me. I think my main problem was I was just not that invested in Amy, the nanny. She sort of annoyed me. There were some genuinely creepy moments which kept the book a 3 star read for me. And though the final reveal of the vandal was unexpected I didn't jibe with the motive of the vandal. I will continue to read this authors work in the future

Can the plucky nanny tame the whispery village? The sullen teen? The of the rails husband? Who is the cherub and who is the devil in this twisty Irish tale?
Creepier than you’d expect.

This is the first book I’ve read by Rachel and it certainly kept me on my toes. I could have finished this book in one day but I didn’t want it to end so I read it slowly. The storyline was very interesting! I certainly wasn’t expecting the ending. I would definitely recommend this book! Looking forward to reading more books by Rachel! Thank you Gallery Books, Rachel Ryan and Netgalley for the ARC!

Amy thinks she’s found her dream job, nannying for a family with two children in West Cork. The Carroll family is kind and they live in a beautiful home overlooking the ocean. Her two young charges are adorable, but what’s the story with the reclusive teenage boy who never seems to leave his room? The father begins to act erratically and there are disturbing messages left throughout the town. Amy begins to realize that all is not as it seems in the Carroll house, and the place she chose to rest and recover maybe the most dangerous place of all.
