Read this book to my granddaughters. Laughter was heard during the story. When we finished, I asked them how they liked it and they said it was funny and silly. They both liked it a lot. So I think this says it all. The book brought laughs, silliness, and fun to its target audience. Good job! I recommend it.

This was a silly cute book, it was similar to some books we have read in the past but unique enough to stand out. The kids enjoyed this read (ages 2,4,6). I loved the illustrations and the bright colors. Had a good message of being yourself, not trying to hide, and standing out for who you are which I enjoyed. Some clever writing and enjoyed the different typefaces throughout. Overall I would recommend this to other families!

Such a cute book! The sweet unicorn has to dress up to try to sneak into the book. My child laughed so hard seeing the unicorn dressed on each page. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review

Very cute and funny set up with the narrator and character communicating back and forth. The illustrations are bright and cheerful. This book is a great "non-unicorn" book for any child!

This book was adorable. The colorul artwork and positive message made me smile. I'll be reading this one to my daughter once it's published.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Unicorn NOT wanted is a playful story that takes lighthearted jab at the current unicorn popularity. The author was determined to keep a unicorn and a pug out of his cowboy story but quickly realizes he doesn't have control after all.

I so badly wanted to love this book, but didn't. It lacked in storyline and there just wasn't any meat to it. It felt like it tried a bit too hard to be funny...

Five Stars YeeHaw!
This was an adorably illustrated children's book. I loved the bright colors, the detail and the derpiness of the Unicorn and pug who DEFINITELY were not supposed to be in this book that ISNT at all about unicorns (or pugs).
I liked how the narrator of the story interacted with the characters. The author managed to write a story that made not only my kids laugh, but made me laugh as well. Which tbh is a gift to parents everywhere.
My 3 year old was a little confused since it wasn't a typical story but my 5 year old son and 7 year old niece (who is obsessed with Unicorns) found it highly entertaining. This would be great for storytime in any elementary school or library.
Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC so that I may share my honest feedback.

I loved this book it was so silly and fun. I loved the unicorn's attitude and my 1 year old loved looking at all of the silly pictures. I love unicorn was confident that she was amazing and that with her things could only be better.

Unicorn NOT Wanted is a lively, charming book which recalls the tale of a unicorn and a pug as they continuously insert themselves into the narrator's story about the Wild West. The illustrations are bright and fun, and the humour will surely entertain young readers. Definitely, a book I would recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Quarto Publishing Group for a chance to read this book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I think it’s a fantastic children’s book. The art is colourful and fun, really captivating to a younger audience. There’s so much to look at on every page and even the background characters have such funny reactions to what’s happening around them (I especially enjoyed the tortoise’s expressions).

The story was so silly and fun. I was laughing at so many points throughout the book so I can only imagine that a young audience will find it hilarious! The pug had me in stitches with every piece of dialogue and his adorable costumes. When he was dressed as a wrestler, I couldn’t stop laughing.

Even with all the fun and silliness, the unicorn delivers a powerful message that we should never let anyone tell us not to be our authentic selves and that we should never be afraid to take up space! I loved her and thought she was a great main character who children are going to love! The final scene was full of so much joy and acceptance and I couldn’t stop smiling at everyone being themselves.

The story was fun and easy to follow along with really enjoyable narration. I loved the author conversing with the characters and thought it added so much to the story!

I think this will become a book beloved by children and adults alike! It will be perfect for classroom bookshelves and bedtime stories!

Aww what a cute Unicorn and Pug. They are feisty an will not accept NOT being in the story. My toddler will enjoy the bright illustrations and action within the pages. And as she loves unicorns it is a bonus that there are unicorns in the story.

This book is so adorable! I love the art and the story was so much fun. It felt like There is a Monster At the End of This Book kind of feel. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read it in class. So much fun.

5 stars

The illustrations are energetic and funny, and the unicorn and pug continue to insert themselves in the author's Wild West story in amusing ways. However, there have been so many meta children's stories like this in recent years that this one doesn't especially stand out, except for major unicorn fans and kids who, like the book's narrator, are tired of the unicorn trend.

The graphics are amazing in this book!! Bright and beautiful. The story was just ok for me. I did like how the unicorn stuck up for itself at the end! They definitely do make things more exciting!!

This is a charming, fourth wall-busting read that cheekily nods to the recent ubiquity of unicorns in stories and products for children. So silly and fun! Reminds me of "The Monster at the End of This Book," except instead of lovable, furry old Grover, we have a valiant and faceless narrator trying desperately to protect readers from yet another (yawn) unicorn story. The humor is cute and the illustrations and engaging and imagination-inspiring. Such a fun family read, especially for the caretaker specializing in a wide range of storybook-reading voices.

Unicorn NOT Wanted is the best unicorn-free unicorn book. My 7 year old son laughed out loud and demanded we read it again. That is the highest praise a children's book can receive.

Many thanks to Quarto Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute book, but I'm not sure about whether it was truly an enjoyable read. For read aloud with a child or even for a child reading it to themselves. The illustrations are super cute, and it moves quickly, but the humour feels forced and repetitive. I wanted to like it a lot more than I did, and I kept hoping that there would be more of a plot or story than having the 4th wall broken in order to confront a unicorn and pug invading the book. The premise had so much promise, and the start was solid. I'm just not a huge fan of the execution. There will be kids who enjoy this and who ask for it on repeat when it comes time to pick a book, but I'm not sure how many. I feel like this one would be a one and done kind of read aloud. The fact that the book wants to keep unicorns out because they are overdone and then falls prey to what it is trying not to be made me think that Blunt was basically capitalizing on the unicorn lovers (and pug lovers) as well as the anti-unicorn readers in order to cash in rather than really tell a great story.

The artwork does save the book though. Just barely.
