Pandora's Box is a short graphic novel perfect for kids/middle grade readers that are interested in learning more about the greek gods. It tells the story of Pandora and where we got the term Pandora's Box from. Even as an adult I didn't know too much about the story, so it was an interesting read!

This graphic novel tells the story of when Zeus was first creating the world, and how people came to be. Prometheus stole Zeus' fire to give to the humans, and in turn, Zeus created a girl named Pandora, who one day would open a box that would unleash Zeus' punishment to the world.

I loved learning the story about Pandora through the colorful panels. The illustrator used mostly neutral tones with a bit of turquoise. The art work was simple (more solid colors as opposed to tons of shading) and the colors were vibrant, something that I think would appeal to younger readers. I would read more of the greek stories told in this graphic novel format and I think it's a wonderful way for young readers to access the topic of the greek gods for the first time.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review.

This was an easy-to-understand and digestible way to share this story with my kids. There was a nice variety in the way the text was displayed and the story was adjusted to make sense for kids without being too silly or diminishing the original story.

This is a cute and fun middle grade graphic novel that introduces readers to the myth of Pandora's box. Some explanation about the Greek pantheon is a nice addition that is needed for readers who are new to the world of Greek gods to fully understand the story. Hand this to readers who love Percy Jackson.

Rating: 6/10 – 3 stars out of 5
Genre: Graphic novel

Prometheus and his brother created men and animals. The first wanted to steal fire from Zeus and was punished for it. Meanwhile, the God imagined his revenge. One day, he sent Pandora, the first woman, to Earth with a box that he was not to open.

It is incredible how a story from classical Greek mythology has been condensed into a comic with less than 100 pages in which it is an attempt to bring this myth closer to the new generations with the style of Twitter and Instagram.

However, and although I see it as a great approach for the little ones, I think it falls a bit short and is not enough. Leaving the story of Prometheus in a simple "went and tied him to a rock" sounds like an illusion.

Pandora's Box has reached our days with the widespread thought that there were only bad things inside. This is a good way to bring these stories to other people.

I would like to read the rest of the books that are mentioned because they are easy, fast and entertaining.

This is a lovely graphic novel depicting the myth of Pandora‘s Box in a way that kids can understand well. I found the illustrations were very well done and the dialogue was fun. I personally could’ve done without the nods to social media but I think this is something that kids might actually enjoy a lot. This is a great way to introduce this myth (or Greek mythology in general!) to a younger audience.

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

The illustrations are nice and the story is interesting. It gives young readers access to Greek mythology in a more welcoming way. The internet slang was a bit annoying, but students may connect to it.

A very interesting way to introduce young kids to mythology. The illustrations are very beautiful and the story is told in an easy-to-understand way.

This graphic novel was absolutely delightful! I loved getting a different perspective on Pandora's myth. Pandora herself narrates this graphic novel and points out all the different variations of her own legend. I think this novel used creative and fun hashtags to engage young readers as well. This novel also has a glossary for young readers and it is written in a very engaging and cheesy way. I think littles 7-9 would absolutely laugh out loud at parts of the novel.

While Greek mythology is usually fairly violent and bloody, this graphic novel kept it G rated for the kids.

If you ever wanted to know more about Pandora's box... this is the graphic novel for you!

*Illustrations were marvelous as well!

Great for children, at elementary school. The art is ok, not bad but not stunning. It explains the legend very well for the children to understand.

This is a graphic novel retelling Pandora's story directed toward children. It was a nice read and a good introduction for kids to mythology.

The story is not super detailed, which is a good thing in this case (Greek Myths tend to be cruel and twisted) and tells you the broad outline of the story.

However, since this isn't a modern retelling, using hashtags and internet speak makes it feel so weird and could take you out of the reading experience. Nevertheless, I think that will make it more relatable to the children.

The art is cute, so an extra point for that.

This cute little comic is a great way to introduce Greek Mythology to everyone who has no knowledge about it, doing that in a fun and playful way. The art style is in my opinion really simple and colorful, perfect for children. The story itself is really short and compact but everything that one has to know in the beginning is included and portrayed well. This story was really fun to read and I would recommend to everyone who wants to start dive into Greek mythology.

This is a really great way to introduce greek mythology to kids. The story was both fun and easy to read and the artwork was wonderfully done. Can't wait too see the others.

Learn a classic Greek myth through a modern, simple yet engaging graphic novel!
No one holds a grudge like the King of Gods, Zeus. When Prometheus stole the fire from Zeus to create humans, Zeus was furious and swore to seek revenge. To succeed his plan, Zeus first created his first female mortal, Pandora, and gifted her a mysterious box which says, "Do Not Open." Does she keep her promise?
I love how the language is meant to target the modern day younger generation - simple language, internet references such as hashtags, and social media trends such as selfie, text, devices etc. The illustrations are goofy and well- detailed which help to boost the story.
A small book not more than 50 pages but covers a broad outline of the story. Ideal for audience for ages 8 - preteens. The book includes glossary and external references for curious readers.

It was cute, a good introduction for kids into mythology. A quick read they can probably read over and over again. Had fun art and cheesy chuckles.

A graphic novel targeted to children with the age 9-11 that retells Pandora's Box story. It's fun and light and so Gen Z-y with a lot of social media feature references (hashtags, photos, etc).

The story is not that detailed (since it's only 50 pages long) and just tells you the broad outline of the story.

This was a great and fun introduction to one of Greek mythology's most interesting stories. The artwork is great and the text is engaging.

I enjoyed this retelling on Pandora and Greek mythology. It is modern words and language with Ancient Greek design. I would be interested in more graphic novels in this series based on this individual one. It is well designed for middle grade while covering a layered myth.

This short graphic novel might be a great way to teach small children about Greek mythology.
The language was very modern though and while I found it funny, I can imagine children feeling a bit embarrassed by it (you know how you felt, when your parents or old people used youth slang) and it might even lead to confusion as to what technologies the Greeks actually possessed. While these are concerns, I think the benefits of using modern language and pop culture references outweigh them as it will make the story more relatable to children and keep them interested for longer. Also, reading should not only be about learning, but also fun.
The art style was very cute and the characters were easy to distinguish. I enjoyed trying to identify unnamed characters.
Also, I liked that finally someone depicts Zeus as the asshole he is, even in a children’s book.
I will definitely try more books from this series and can recommend this one.
