Exceptional perspective, insight, and advice. The authors dissection of the human psyche and emotions is profound for every reader; even if you aren’t interested in psychedelics or affected by trauma. This book was helpful for multiple facets of how I engage in life and relationships.

It is thorough, constructive and detailed but not dawdling. You can read this as a guide to incite curiosity as to how you tick, peel back your own layers of why, and re-wire your psyche. His particular tools involve a range of psychedelics; he provides information on the type of medicine, how best it’s employed, and how to safely heal.

I first learned about psychedelics being used to treat certain mental illnesses almost 10 years ago and it has intrigued me ever since. I was very excited to get the chance to read this book, and it was interesting, but just not quite what I expected. Maybe because I’ve never actually experienced what being on psychedelics feels like, but I just could not get a feel for what the author was saying. I’m very happy it has worked for him, but this book seemed geared to those who already have an understanding of the experience versus those of us curious to learn more.

I was fortunate enough to be able to get an ARC of this book to review. I was excited by this opportunity as I've seen short news clips about new and positive research regarding psychedelics. This book gives you insight into the evolution that used to be considered pure poison to now having beneficial uses. This author takes you on his journey with using psychedelics. He's raw and honest from the start and how they pulled him out of the dark. He explains the process and how it wasn't an overnight miracle. This quote stuck with me as I think it will you too, but also find you insight into her as a person , "From the bottom of my heart, I wish for anyone who is suffering from the devastating effects of trauma and deep emotional wounding to feel the kind of healing and the life-changing benefits that I have, and more. But coming to that healing with psychedelics is not going to be the right approach for everyone. Or, it might not be the right approach for someone right now, but could be once they have done the necessary work of building a good foundation of self-awareness, understanding, and tolerance for their own emotional states. You can find the right path for you, if it is your honest intention to do so."

If you're interested in learning more or even considering psychedelics as a tool for you then this book is for. I didn't think I would devour this book as quickly as I did but I wanted to see how Duncan's story ended. I am thankful for reading this book. I was truly touched by this book.
