This is a beautiful collection of stories to share with a young child.
The illustrations are bright and colorful and the text engaging.

This would make a great collection of stories to read with a child at bedtime.

The 5 years old usually starts to read. They would want to explore the book by themselves, or some still want to cuddle and have the stories read to them. Nevertheless, this book is amusing, with some poems, rhyming words and funny stories to read. It is packed with fuels to ignite these children's imagination, and they can soar free dreaming the wildest.

What a beautiful fairy tale, colorful, and fun to read. I think children will be happy if they read this because as an adult, I also enjoy reading it. Thank you netgalley!

My five year was on the fence with this.

The illustrations were fabulous and kept her interest entirely. The stories were hit or miss. She loved that she learned facts about different things (planets, seeds, Dino’s), throughout but there were more than a few stories overall that she didn’t connect with at all or that made her sad (ie: the bunny eating the carrot or the lion’s lunch).

Overall, we enjoyed reading this together and thoroughly enjoyed looking through the illustrations together and picking our favorites in each story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC with my children!

A Treasury of Tales for Five-Year-Olds is filled with cute, charming tales to read for bed time stories to a child. The illustrations are great as well. It would definitely be a little one's favorite for some time.

As welcome as this collection is, it's not perfect. Certainly it fails to sustain its creativity all the way to the end. But before then we get enough to recommend it and more, for the very useful purpose being that this offers a welter of variety and novelty. I loved the new reason for saying 'Boo!' to a goose, kids will like the wicked king who gets to witness someone else's opinion about him, and there is worth to be had in getting all the way through this and then starting again. Aesop, Persia, China and the author herself of course provide for the stories here. It doesn't try to be all cutting-edge and hip and trendy – even if there is a successful attempt to put the Rap into Rapunzel. The wokest it gets is a magician that wants the whole royal court to wear dresses, for some daft reason.

The biggest problems are that, to repeat, some of the later pieces just drift off, and the presence of a cat and dog partnership. Their story isn't all that great, but is so long it is presented in two chunks – only the first chunk forgets to tell us what they even are. It's only when we meet them in an unconnected tale in between that we learn they're a cat and dog. Clumsy. I can't say I loved the art that much, but I do admire the breadth here, from narrative rhymes, to stories of humans or animals, and even the one where every character but one gets to die a horrible, painful death at the end. (BTW, they were vegetables – this doesn't take a swerve to the inappropriate for no reason.) All told a solid enough volume.

This book of stories is so wonderfully written for a 5 year old! My little one was giggling and it was easy to pull his own experiences in as we were reading along. The illustrations added to each short story and we enjoyed reading this book before bed each night. The stories are simple and engaging.

I enjoyed reading these stories my nieces! They aren't that into digital books, so I'd definitely have to buy a physical copy in order to keep the "magic" associated with reading. I think, for them, reading on a phone isn't as fun because they would rather watch something or play a game. But the stories within this collection were different, new, inviting. I genuinely enjoyed reading these.

My children and I really enjoyed reading this book each night before bed, we read one tale a night.

Our favourite part about this book were the random facts that could be found at the end of certain poems, you certainly learn something new everyday and is great for growing and developing minds.

My 5 year old especially loved the rhyming tales and really enjoyed taking part in them.

This is such a cute read-aloud book for young kiddos, with absolutely beautiful and simplistic illustrations. The stories progress in order of reading difficulty, so the little reader or listener can build comprehension confidence as they go along. Worth keeping an eye out for this one when it comes out!

Me reviewing this from a 5 year old's POV

Such a colorful book with good illustration and wonderful stories for a 5-year-old kid.

This book may based on fiction, but the author gave your kid an useful knowledge (about real things) such as planets, food, dinosaurs, plants, animals, and what's good or bad things to do for your little one.

Without me realizing it, I started reading this book in a kid's tone. I would actually like to buy this book if I have kids. The illustration in here will help me explain a bunch of stuff.

The words portion and the illustration portion are in balance, and the placement is good; this wouldn't make a 5-year-old kid bored or lose his interest in reading this book.

As an adult, I even find myself not wanting to move on to the next page as I appreciate the illustration and all of the colorful pages. It's a good experience to be back as a little kid who wants so badly to understand how this world works.

Overall is great deal for 5 year old

This is a wonderful collection of tales in a beautiful package. I found myself giggling and enjoying these stories as an adult. The illustrations are beautiful and uplifting and the color palette of the designs around even the introductory pages is so delightful I can't wait to order a copy for my personal and work library!

The book overall is cute, but there are some aspects not really to the children's taste. Thank you the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for sending me this e-ARC.
