I just couldn’t like Kate as a character. I understood her, but that doesn’t mean I liked her.

The little breadcrumbs left throughout the story to lead on the suspense wasn’t enough for me. I felt myself bored and wanting more to keep me interested.

If it is a book by SE Lynes I don't even read the blurb as I know it will be fantastic and this was another good one! A great domestic thriller. Kate and Jeff have a beautiful holiday home in Spain. Coco, the popular girl from uni is in in town and Kate stalks her until she gets her to her house. A lot of secrets arise and the story is gripping with great twists and turns.

This is a very intriguing read about a couple, Kate and Jeff, who are on holiday together in Spain when Kate bumps into Coco, an old ‘friend’ from the in-crowd from university days. And wow! it all takes off from there. It is a very modern setting with rather nostalgic flashbacks to university days as a background to the story. There were many twists and turns, some rather predictable and I did feel some parts of the story a little too ‘pat’.. would that really have happened? A rather chilling ending though. Most unexpected! Thank you to Net for giving me the chance to read this book.

I love a good psychological thriller set during a holiday and so this was the prefect read for me. Kate and Jeff are on holiday. Its supposed to be a time of rest and fun without kids. However, the cracks in their marriage soon become apparent and not even the holiday seems to help make things better. Kate is bored and on her own quite often. This suddenly changes when she meets a familiar face from her university years. Coco used to be the popular girl in college. She and Kate did not move in the same circles. However, Kate hopes that things will now be different and the 2 can become friends.

This was such a fun, twisty read. I enjoyed the 3 alternating POVs although I truly didn’t like the 3 characters. I was sympathetic to Kate but even she got on my last nerve. She was over 50 but acted like a teenager when it came to Coco. Jeff and Coco were despicable.

Although this wasn’t my favourite read by the author, it was still enjoyable and it kept me glued to the pages until the last chapter. I was intrigued by the secrets and the twists kept me guessing. What a fun read!

4.5 ⭐️ - I really enjoyed this book, I’ve recently realised I love thrillers set on a holiday.

This was a well rounded domestic thriller, easy to differentiate the characters and their shifting POV.
One think I especially loved was Kate’s internal monologue (little self deprecating comments or sharing her frustrations with her husband).

I also enjoyed the little twist towards the end about a side character.

I regret not reading this earlier when I was approved through NetGalley for the ARC! But I’m glad I got around to it and will likely check out more of this author’s books.

So when I read a Lynes I never read the description because I love going in blind. So wanting that experience for our followers writing this review is hard, because I don't to spill the tea! But I will say this The Summer Holiday is amazing and a must read and S.E. Lynes will not dissapoint!

The Summer Holiday by S.E.Lynes is a fast paced well written book which is made even more interesting due to the unlikable characters and a surprise ending that I didn't see coming .

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review

The Summer Holiday by Lynes was an okay read. I was expecting a bigger twist at the end but a decent read.

What a twisty, messed-up ride but I mean that in the most complimentary way! After all, isn't that what you want when you read a domestic suspense? A book that has you flipping the pages all while yelling at the characters?

This one starts with a couple going to Spain for a couple weeks. Apparently while the purpose was to reignite a spark in their marriage it becomes quickly evident any embers are long gone. They spend most of their time separately. He's obsessed with his fitness and his wife, Kate, had grown use to being alone and occupying herself. It is no wonder the marriage was falling apart from that alone, but this union had far more cracks in the foundation.

While Kate is out doing the tourist thing, she spots a woman by the name of Coco Moss. She was someone she knew in university though Coco paid her no attention. Determined to impress her now and driven by low self-esteem, Kate approaches Coco. She invites her over to the villa where she and her husband are holidaying. Excited to impress Coco, Kate had no idea what she was getting herself into. When Kate's husband and Coco first lay eyes on each other, it's obvious there's some sort of history there. Determined to figure out what, Kate starts digging into the past. What she finds out ends up flipping her entire world upside-down.

The Summer Holiday grabs you by the collar and pulls you along at break-neck speed.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced reading copy.

A fab easy read with endearing and addictive characters, I am a fan of this author and although this was maybe the tamest of her books, it was still a great read!

Kate and Jeff go off on vacation. While there, Kate sees Coco and invites her back to the villa. However, it seems like Jeff and Coco might have a past history and no one is ready to share it. The book does start off a bit slow, but the pace picks up and is enjoyable.

I enjoy this book, I find S.E. Lynes books are easy reading. Guaranteed the twists and drama. I did find this one a little predictable, but all the same a good page Turner.

A slow domestic thriller set in Spain. I struggled with the characters though enjoyed the setting. A decent holiday read.

The Summer Holiday is the perfect book for your next overseas get away.

On one of the first nights away, Kate spots Coco Moss. An enigmatic woman who she admired at university. Determined to gain a friendship Kate invites Coco to the villa.
However, as her husband enters the room to meet their guest it becomes obvious that Jeff and Coco have crossed paths before but are not willing to say.
Kate senses this and is determined to discover what could have happened between Coco and her husband.
The book starts slowly but soon picks up pace. This would be a perfect made for TV story.

I have read quite a few books by Ms. Lynes and they are always twisty. And always entertaining. This one has a couple that is hoping to reconnect on holiday now that their daughter is grown. I’ll say that while I did not like any of the characters, I was curious to know where this one was going. And I appreciated that the main characters were a little older.

Everyone has a secret and that leads to many twists as they are revealed. Things are not always what they seem. Domestic thrillers can be a dime a dozen, but this one doesn’t feel old and had a little bit of a fresh angle. What starts out as a slow burn (at least for me), picked up in the second half and I did not want to put it down.

I think both the author’s fans and lovers of slow burn domestic thrillers will like this one.

@selynesauthor is one of my favourite @bookouture authors and I can safely say that this hasn’t disappointed.

We are taken to sunny Spain with Kate and Jeff. These are well developed characters and I have adored them from the beginning.
This starts off as a slow build but I have been hooked. I found this addictive and devoured this gem in one sitting.

This is a book that has made my pulse race and my heart pound. There’s so much to unpick- lies, manipulation and unreliable characters.

I’ve read many of this author’s books. This is definitely a good one. I can safely say this is brilliant from beginning to end.

I always jump at the chance to read books by this author. This is definitely a favourite. I cannot say anything negative about this book.

a good read, quite typical of this author, pacey and twisty with debatable characters. Interesting dynamics. A great summer read as quick and easy.
