As a lover of reality TV and books, I was really excited when I heard about Most Hated. The premise sounded exciting and fun. I think that the format of the book was good, it was helpful to have the different viewpoints, it allowed the reader to get a fuller sense of the story. Prior to writing this review, I did not know that the author was on Real Housewives of Toronto. Now that I know that, it makes a bit more sense. The book took a sinister turn pretty quickly, and I think it was a little jarring. I understand that reality tv isn't actually real, but I would've thought there'd be more.... fun in the book. I also think the characters could've used a bit more development, as some of them felt very one-dimensional. I found that I was forgetting who was who, except for two or three characters, and I wasn't very invested in most of their lives or what happened to them. Thank you to NetGalley and re:books for this ARC!

A light, easy read set in the world of reality tv. This one was difficult for me. I did finish it, and was curious about what would happen, but it was repetitive at a lot of points and had an overall feel of Real Housewives. This catty behavior and drama is just not my thing, but is a booming business and attracts a lot of people. So, if you are into reality television, female drama, and backstabbing, this may be the book for you.

I could;t get enough of all the drama, rich people problems and revenge! I could see this being adapted into a TV show. Couldn't put it down- a fast paced, suspenseful read!

This was a cute and simple read. I had a good time because I am a very big fan of the real housewives franchise so I really appreciated that aspect of the story. It wasn't a brand new favorite but it was a super fun read if you just want a new story to pass the time!

- Thank you NetGalley for the ARC -

super beach read, reality tv and what more?
Most Hated is a fictional account of a reality show tell all and it's a thinly veiled look into the life of Kara Alloway - a Real Housewife of Toronto.

In Most Hated, we follow Zoe, a show runner who has put together a group of has been stars and socialites. Zoe is completely merciless and will stop at nothing to make her show the most talked about - the most well known and the most dramatic. It is addictive and eye opening and reminded me of the show UnReal only much, much better!

We also meet several women vying for a good edit all for different reasons. As the week continues, Zoe work behind the scenes to trigger the women and cause more and more drama, taking it further and further to the edge for a good shot - the ultimate question is, to what end? Kara Alloway provides an inside view to the well known culture of reality shows and the reveal is totally worth it.

I read this in two settings because I was so addicted. Kara Alloway's debut makes me want more books from her, I would even read more reality TV books from her. She's a Real Housewife and has the qualifications, why not? She certainly learned a thing or two about capturing the drama.

"Most Hated" is fabulous and dramatic. It's reality TV in a book! Alloway meshes the glitz and glamour of reality TV with the harsh realities of life. It's "Firefly Lane" on steroids! Love, love, love it.

I enjoyed "Most Hated" quite a bit! All of the characters, but especially Dahlia, were on a path towards becoming the people they want to be and I loved being a part of that journey.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rebooks for this ARC of Most Hated by Kara Alloway.

I admit to the ‘guilty pleasure’ of certain reality television. I don’t really care for the present influencer era we live in, but to me, shows like The Real Housewives franchise were the original (for me) media for socials, after Robin Leach’s show Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
I admit to coveting wealthy, glamorous lives and enjoy voyeurism into it.

The description of this book grabbed my attention because of this habit of watching reality tv.

However, I dislike, have always disliked, the heavily-produced drama of these shows.
In my opinion the best ones such as the early versions, have been lower-drama, more realistic and not overly orchestrated and contrived. I want true reality! Give me the mundane of rich women’s lives. :)

In this book, the play-by-play of the cameras filming and directing every scene quite fatigued me.

I was a bit disappointed by the production descriptions and Zoe’s input as a self-titled “grifter,” an opportunist for good TV no matter what. Spoiler: I was glad to observe her ultimate professional demise.

I like to suspend disbelief when I watch this television genre and now I cannot as easily apply that. The “fourth wall” is broken.

I most enjoyed the parts of the book when the cameras were off and I could get to know the undirected women: their pasts and presents publicized and televised for entertainment purposes - and if and how it met their own personal agendas. My favorite character was Dahlia for her modest background and personality. Sabrina’s story was sympathetic to me as well.

This book is an uncorrected proof but I have to note that the formatting errors made reading dialogue confusing for me.

I have just now learned that the author was on the Real Housewives of Toronto, which I now want to watch!

Three stars.

As a fan of all reality shows, this was such a fun look behind the curtain and how sometimes our favorite reality villains aren't that bad after all! Nicole's character came out of left field a bit, but her character didn't frustrate me as much as Marianas. LOVED Sabrina!

I find the influencer world so fascinating so this story definitely did not disappoint - I plan on looking out for more from this author!

Loved the concept and 'bones" of this book, and I think anyone who enjoys reality TV of the "Real Housewives" persuasion would enjoy it as a vacation read. But the execution wasn't great. It needed a stronger editing hand, or an outright book doctor/whisperer. There were a lot of characters to keep track of, and something about the structure didn't help. I found the choice to have the book told from the perspective of 3 characters, but have only 1 of those 3 in first person, very odd. It made the narrative feel janky.

thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC, in exchange for this honest review.

I love a good romance, and this one was wonderful! It had witty banter, and lovable characters. I was rooting for them the whole way through!

I've been watching reality television since season one of Survivor, so I figured I would give this one a shot. I am familiar with the Real Housewives franchise although I have never watched it, so I did not know initially that the author has been on a reality show. It was an interesting story that had a lot of insight into the backstage workings of reality shows and was an entertaining story.

This was a super interesting read and in incredibly big roller coasting of emotional feelings. Reading this book reminded me of when I used to watch reality TV , like a lot, and obsessed over every little petty drama that went on. I haven't gotten back to it like I used to, but this was refreshing and also a big throwback to the world I used to love. I felt frustrated at times against mainly all the character, but I think that represents just how juicy and realistic the plot and writing it.

A delicious rompy swipe at the world of Reality TV from one of the Real Housewives of Toronto. This novel lays bare the seedy manipulations of reality TV production and the participants' desire to craft certain narratives about themselves. A pacey read that makes you question perception through well-drawn characters and engaging plotlines. Lots of humour, this novel asks pertinent questions without ever seeming preachy or lecturing. A great summer read.

While I’m not one to spend my free time on reality tv I was excited to read this book. It follows women who are filming a reality tv show all for varied reasons, the crew who is trying to manipulate and capitalize on their cast and is told from several points of view. You can tell the author has intimate knowledge of the industry and all the secrets of filming it and it was a solid read. I enjoyed the humor, deceit, and bonds between women.

Most Hated is much more entertaining than reality TV. While it starts a little slow, this is a book I stayed awake until the middle of the night to finish. I felt actual angst for what was happening in these characters lives and I’m so happy with how it ended. This book is unique, clever, and an emotional roller coaster that points out the “reality” of reality TV.

This delicious read gave me all the Desperate Housewives mixed with the OC. I love a good drama filled plot with characters you either love or hate. I flew through this!
