It’s Ok Not To Be Fabulous Every Day by Ally Dalsimer took me back to the early 80s when I was all into Gail Sheehy's Passages. It's like a 2023 version of that classic!

You know what I love about Dalsimer's book? It's filled with real-life tips that anyone can use. She throws in sayings, quotes, and some keen observations that really help you navigate life's crazy twists and turns. Let's face it, life can get super stressful these days, and this book reminds us to slow down, stop judging ourselves, and just be happy with who we are while trying to be our best selves. It's like a big ol' affirmation, and I'm all about that!

It's straightforward. So, if you want a book that'll give you a fresh perspective on life, It’s Ok Not To Be Fabulous Every Day is the way to go. (Linda - Guest Reviewer)

This is a nice book with reminders that it’s ok to not be ok every day. The point is to keep going and moving forward. The book is full of quotes and sayings such as “just do it” and “there’s still time to change the road you’re on.” With all the stress in our daily lives it’s important to remember to be kind and to give yourself self-love. Some days are harder than others and that’s ok. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC.

This is a very good book of positive advice, affirmations, & examples ...... it's all quite realistic, 'down to earth' offerings.....easy to take in & apply/use. It's short enough that it can be read in 1 sitting, & be satisfied/happy that you read it! I really liked the content, the book.......but I'm not really taken with the cover art...I feel like it projects kind of negative vibes, whereas the content of the book projects such a positive message.......might be a 5 star positive message! There's good, easy, welcome bits of ideas for everyone! I'm glad I was able to read it!
I received an e-ARC of the book from publisher BooksGoSocial via NetGalley, for review purposes. This is my own fair/honest review.

Ally Dalsimer is like that friend that listens to your anxieties and points out some very common sense reason to rethink the situation. (OK, I don’t know anyone who can instantly come up with appropriate quotes, and it does reinforce what she’s saying.) She gives examples from her own life and they are relatable. She avoids naval gazing and ‘working on yourself’ and chooses a much lighter approach that is reassuring and helpful. It’s a nice little book to keep around and revisit from time to time.

This clever little book provides a wealth of quotes by famous people and a series of heartfelt messages from the author to the reader aimed at giving permission to strive for fabulous but accept just okay. Dalsimer doesn't dive into deep philosophical discussions. Instead, she uses her own life as a metaphor and meets the reader at the seam of 'doing your best' with 'sometimes just getting by' is enough. A quick, inspiring little read.

I received an electronic ARC from BooksGoSocial through NetGalley.
Dalsimer offers a look at her thoughts on life in a free flowing style. Readers can either read straight through or read a section and pause to add their own ideas. This is one to read and then reread portions that directly connect with your life. She lets us in to see what has shaped her ideas along with offering tips and suggestions for readers. It's a lighter read with affirmations on how to enjoy life.

Ally Dalsimer fills this short, quick read with quotes and observations that will have you reflecting on your own life and realizing that you are only responsible for the choices that you make and the actions that you take. After dealing with family deaths, floods, kids and a foray into politics, she takes her personal experiences and shows how a positive outlook is a true ally. With quotes from Queen Elizabeth, Lao Tzu and even Yoda, she inspires you to face the unknowns in your life and just be the best person that you can be. I would like to thank NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for providing this book for my review.

This is a quick read with great reminders as we proceed through our days. These are the points which spoke to me.
If we have a difficult task to complete, it is easy to find other "more important" things to do. It doesn't matter how much we accomplish. Just start. Sometimes, the best thing to do is to take a break. Take a walk, take a nap, read a book, something that will re-energize you.

The fear of the unknown can keep us from trying new things or taking that trip. Will you regret later on that you didn't try or go on that journey?

Lastly, remember that if needed, you can ask for help. This will benefit you and the person who helped you.

I don't know what I expected when requested to read the book but for sure something more complex. The book - it's better to call it 'brochure' (on my kindle 43 pages in total) - give some well known advice how to be fabulous...every day. A huge disappointment.
