What would you do if death offered you a deal in the worst moment of your life, You can live now but in 10 years he promises to find you and collect your soul. That's the situation Faith finds herself in even though she was only 8 years old at the time.

Deceitful and complex Death has kept his part of the bargain, Faith has had 10 years with her family and has been safe for the past ten years, but it's time to collect on their deal, and Death doesn't break his promises or lie, even when it seems like he might want to.

In a story that will have you questioning what you would do as often as Death creates a clone of himself, we see what Faith will do to keep herself and the people she loves safe while finding a way to fight for her soul.

From skimpy lace dresses to aviator sunglasses Death and Faith are dancing with the Devil, each of them trying to take the lead while they decide just which part of their story they want to stand in.

From people that are centuries old, stories of gladiators, angels falling from the sky, this book has a little something for everyone and I hope there's a book two because I need to know what happens next and if Faith will follow in her aunt's footsteps.

Thank you to Wattpad WebToon Book Group and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of this E-Book, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

It's very interesting to see a Wattpad story come to a new life - I do think in today's day and age this fits better under new adult (a genre that didn't exist at the time this originally came about), Will be a lot of fun for paranormal romance readers.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC of this book for an honest review.

In this story, Faith dies when she is a child, but Death spares her and allows her to go back to a normal like until she is 18 and then he’ll come to collect what he’s owed.

I was going to give this book 3.5 stars, but I’m bumping it up to 4 because the ending made me want to read the next book in the series.

I thought the world building was pretty interesting and there were some plot twists that I was definitely not expecting. I really loved Faith and how snarky she was. I have very mixed feelings about Death. Sometimes I loved him and other times I felt like he was very toxic.

The only thing that I didn’t like about this book is that, it’s never really explained why Death and these other creatures want Faith. I know there is supposed to be some mystery, but it just made me feel kind of confused. Also, not much really happened for the first 3/4s of the story, but I still enjoyed reading it.

This is going to be a part of a series so be prepared because this book is left on a pretty big cliffhanger.

If you like very morally grey love interests then this book is for you!

When you make a deal with Death to spare your life and forget about it when it comes time to collect, there's bound to be consequences. Faith Williams was suppose to die when she was eight and shot, however something about her soul made Death offer her an alternative deal: he'll save her but in 10 years her soul is his to take. 10 years later, Faith is now 18 and has completely forgotten about it. The only thing she has from that incident is that he's in every art piece she makes, she can't get him out of her mind. Now it is the eve of her birthday on the very day Death is meant to collect her soul, and now more people than just him are after her. It also doesn't help that this infuriating, manipulative, and handsome as hell guy keeps throwing her off, saving her one minute then annoying her the next, kissing her one moment and then disappearing. Faith doesn't know who to trust but she's beginning to realize that she's definitely a player in the war between Heaven and Hell. This book is the first book in the series and is adapted from the original Wattpad story. This book was bad, I'm gonna be honest, what drew me in was the absolutely stunning cover and I can't resist a story that involves Death and deals, but this one felt so beyond juvenile and Faith was so irritating, it was such a hard book to even get through. The writing definitely felt like it was Wattpad and not in a good way. Even trying to think about the actual plot and pacing is difficult because it's all over the place and nothing really happens if you get what I mean. Sadly, I will not be continuing with this series, but hey at least it has a super pretty cover going for it. The title doesn't really even fit in with the story, which sucks to be honest. Overall if you are looking for a VERY very YA/Wattpad fanfic story, give this a go, it might be a better time for you then it was for me.

*Thanks Netgalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, Wattpad Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

Thank you netgalley for an opportunity to review this book honestly in exchange for an arc.

I will not lie, I am a child of fanfiction. My formative years were spent prowling on ao3, fanfic.net, and wattpad. When I heard one of my favorite stories was being traditionally published I was so excited, however I cant decide if my prior knowledge of the story helped or hurt my experience.

(Disclaimer: there’s probably a whole star in my rating purely for nostalgia. I’ve learned over the years to give myself some grace and embrace the things that made younger me happy in points of my life that were the saddest. No matter the varying levels of cringe they could be at times, if you’re having fun it doesn’t matter. Reject conformity, embrace cringe.)

From the beginning I could tell this was a way different story from the one I had read years ago. I know lots had to probably be edited out for sake of word count and page number, but for the original story being a rough rough draft, I felt it was at least paced pretty well. We had lots of time to be introduced to each character over a long time period and get a feel for what kind of world we were set in. This version however starts you off FAST. There were times where we get long chapters of nothing really happening except Faith having a long internal monologue or just going through the motions and those were a bit of a slog to get through. Even the chapters with David didn’t do it for me, though I know lots of people love him. The action scenes were done excellently but those were few and far between for the first half of the book. Faith and Death’s relationship makes sense but also kind of hits you on the head at a certain part (can’t complain about that chapter though 👀). The book really picks up in the last 30% and I just feel like we were left hanging at such an important part. I completely understand this is only the first book and we had to get the story set up, but I wish I was more intrigued from the jump. On that note, I am so damn excited for what is to come down the line with this series now that we have so much to look forward to.

Some of my favorite of the parts and lines I loved in the original were moved around or taken out completely, but it wasn’t wholly disappointing as the most important scenes made appearances. I did appreciate some of the changes that were made such as Faith wanting to pursue a degree in art, her cat (lol), and changing some of the things that were a little more questionable. Some characters were missing but i’m sure they could make appearances later on in the series. However, one of my main issues was that for most of the book it felt like Death was just a background character. I understand why this was changed, and it does make sense with the context of the book, but I still missed his iconic lines and actions. It was about 70% through we started getting more scenes with him being his usual deranged self like I remember and it picked up so much after that.

My favorite parts and also the parts I thought were the most well written, were the scenes we got in Death’s pov, the action scenes, and the parts where Faith and Death are together. The banter between them is done really well and isn’t corny or slightly awkward like some other dialogue could be. The humor shines when they’re together and there were parts that made me genuinely laugh out loud. It’s just a fun book honestly. The balance of serious and fun was a delight.

All in all this wasn’t a bad traditional debut novel. There were definitely parts that could use some work but overall I really did have a fun time reading this. I feel like even people who didn’t read the original draft will find something to like in this book. I’m so ready to be able to hold this physically in my hands FINALLY. I cant wait to see what come next for Faith and Death.

I really enjoyed this book! I had never heard of it so I never had the pleasure of reading it on Wattpad but it was a solid story. Fast paced, entertaining and genuinely funny at times. The characters are well written and fairly realistic (for ex. Marcy and Faiths conversations are believable for teenage girls, etc.) I liked that Death is absolutely insufferable at times, a villain in many aspects but is also genuinely a well rounded character who you want to see find some semblance of happiness when all is said and done. Overall this was an engaging story and I’m looking forward to reading what comes next!

Spoilers!!!!! I love this book so much. I remember laying under my covers years ago way younger than I am now and staying up past my bedtime to read this. I love the plot and storyline. I love the characters and how we get to know them. It is very detailed and I love the way their feelings are written. I do feel like some parts are kind of cringe. There was no reason for her to trust Maplhas. I also felt like the way they couldnt stop thinking about how hot the other person I was was realistic but also kind of cringe-worthy. It's very addictive. I would love a physical copy of this book. I can't wait for the second book.

I liked this story but I also had some issues with several details. First, I'm still trying to work out why this title is the title; they're NOT best friends, they're barely friends. Second, while I completely get not wanting anyone else to be affected by her decisions, how is it that Faith doesn't know that Malphas isn't going to act the way she wants him to? And that he's going to make EVERYTHING worse? That written, I will absolutely read the next book(s) because I need to know how they work all of this out. That ending!

A Wattpad fan favourite resurrected. This was in the WhiteHots YA cart, but reads more like New Adult. May do well with our paranormal readers, or those who loved the series first time round.

Thank you to Netgalley and Wattpad Books for providing me with an arc of this book.

Okay, so this was very cringy, but I kind of liked it? Like I could not stop reading. Just ask my roommate. I was not a huge fan of the fact the characters just couldn't stop thinking about how sexy the other people were. It also felt like even though it is just now being published, it was written in the early 2000s. Probably because it was. But it was addicting. I am mad that I have to read another book to find out what happens though. I wish I wasn't curious, truthfully, because I still cannot believe I enjoyed this.

But this has a good plot. It kept me reading and things were happening. The plot twists felt obvious in retrospect, yet I still did not see them coming. So if you're looking for a quick read that maybe is a tad brain-numbing, I would highly recommend this. Five star enjoyment, but three star overall because of quality and cringe subtracting two stars.

The nostalgia I had reading this!!! I squealed when I got approved to read this early!

I first saw this story when I was 14 or so on Wattpad and it was my absolute favorite story on there. I am so happy it is finally being published! Reading this now at 23, it did not disappoint. I loved every minute of it! The story is fast paced and very engaging. I love the banter between Death and Faith! The one thing is I wish there was more! Sad it ended on a semi-cliffhanger.
The formatting in the pdf made the flashbacks and dialogue a little hard to read at points but I know it won’t be like that in the published copy so that’s no big deal!
Loved loved loved cannot even say how much and how happy I am this is becoming a published series !

I had a lot of hope for this book as I was a fan of the story on Wattpad. Unfortunately, I think I've aged out of this storyline. I'm not a fan of the girl who thinks she's above others, which I thought would have been a major editing point. The writing itself could be better. Multiple characters speaking in one paragraph just gets confusing. It has potential as a fun, quick read, just not my favorite.

Let’s be real, that cover. Who doesn’t wanna death as their BFF?

When Faith Williams almost loses her life during a robbery, Death is there. While he spares her soul, he makes a promise to return when she's eighteen and collect it. Now it's the eve of that special birthday, and Faith has no recollection of that fateful day. But echoes of Death appear in her art- his intense eyes, his intriguing demeanor-and she can't get him out of her head. When he arrives in person, Faith is drawn into an epic supernatural battle where her very existence is questioned at every turn.
This book for sure was a mixed bag. Some of the dialogue between the two bffs was hilarious and probably the best part of this book. Death wasn’t really what I expected when this book started and idk if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. David, the other love interest I assume, for sure falls into the bad boy(not bad boy) in a secret society who ends up really liking Faith. Pretty basic trope that made me roll eyes on more than one occasion. The plot was for sure the confusing part of this book. The intro with the death saving Faith from Death was the BANG that got this book started but slowly declined from there. Going up and down like a heart rate that sometimes flatlined.
My main problem was the unraveling of the mythology in the world that was clunky and sporadic. The side characters (like Faith’s family) were left underdeveloped and forgettable. It for sure got interesting with the upcoming war between heaven and hell. The dialogue again saved it from being completely boring. A overall 3.5 star read, I would read a sequel at some point after it’s release

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Death is My BFF has a great premise with Faith as a powerful narrator with a strong voice. It’s hard to put down and is perfectly balanced with action, humor, the supernatural aspects, and the romance!! It is truly an impressive story with great characters and has a good flow and pace. The interactions between Faith and Death kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire book and made me want to continue reading. Overall, the plot line is fantastic, the characters are incredibly well-developed, and I can picture it being a successful series.

If you love edge-of-your-seat fantasy, supernatural adventures, plot twists, and hilariously dark, profound, LOVABLE villains- Death is My BFF was MADE for you.

If you don't love those things, this is the book to change your mind!

I have been following the series since its very beginnings on Wattpad 10+ years ago, and as I have matured, so has Katarina Tonks and her characters. Death is My Bff has maintained all the elements which attracted millions of readers on Wattpad the first time around: delicious banter, thrilling danger, laugh-out-loud one-liners and lethal chemistry.

But beyond maintaining the original's essence, Tonks presents readers with SO MUCH MORE in this published version. Death is My BFF is darker and steamier than ever. Tonks combines deeper character development and heightened tension to deliver polished world-building and masterful pacing. It doesn't get much better than this.

Old and new readers alike can (and should!) enjoy this fantastic debut novel. But I must warn you- Faith's grim coming-of-age will leave you *dying* for more!

I would absolutely kill for a physical copy of this book, I just love it so much and need to have it on my shelves. I think this book is so nostalgic for me because I quite literally have followed it from wattpad to now so it feels like I grew up with the story. There is honestly nothing that I did not like about this book. I adore Katarina Tonks writing style and I honestly did not want to leave this world. I love the witty banter sprinkled throughout and just this idea that death is actually personified and turned into this morally grey villain is an idea that I wish I had come up with, its just so good. I am usually a harsh critique when it comes to anything sort of fantastical but this just was perfect. The twist and the cliffhanger sent this book over the edge and I am obsessed.

I read the Death is my BFF rewrite on Wattpad about a year ago and am happy to say that this version is nothing but an improvement on an already great read. My favorite thing about this series is the banter between Faith, Death, and David. The dialogue between these characters is an amazing balance of funny, flirty, and slick. My absolute favorite character is Death. I was very pleased that this version of the book has a few chapters dedicated to Death’s perspective. These chapters allow the reader to sympathize with the reaper's tragic past while also getting to read from the pov of a character who holds all the cards in contrast to Faith whos always on the backfoot. He isn't in every chapter but when he does make an appearance you know it's going to be great. He serves as a great looming threat over Faith's head as well as a badass character with powers and abilities straight out of a comic book. On top of being a powerful character Death's cocky demeanor clashes with Faith's headstrong attitude every time they meet with both of them always fighting for the last word. This book is great for fans of romance, especially the enemies-to-lovers trope, and for fans of fantasy with a setting and characters filled with supernatural powers.

First off, WOW. If I had to describe this book in one word, I would say, “epic”! This book has nonstop action, keeps you on the edge of your seat, will make you feel ALL of the emotions, and is so memorable.

If you love morally-gray love interests, villains you can’t help but love, witty banter, funny dialogue, sassy, headstrong heroines, an enemies to lovers trope, forbidden romance, then this is the book for you! Faith is an extremely relatable, likable character that is trying to figure out who she is and throughout the book you witness her go through this journey of self-discovery. Then, there is Death, a cynical, mysterious, tortured soul/force of nature that has come to collect on a deal he made with Faith–and he won’t take no for an answer. Death is such a great character and I loved learning about his story and the rollercoaster of emotions I went through along the way! Also, all of the side characters are really interesting to learn about and I want to be friends with all of them…LOL.

I have read the Original and the Rewritten series on Wattpad, but this book is seriously a STEP UP. It is still the same skeleton as the Rewritten series, but more refined and with no “filler scenes". Every scene and chapter drives the plot forward and it is clear the care and purpose that went into creating each chapter and I really appreciated that as a reader. It felt like I was reading an epic movie or TV show, everything was fleshed out really nicely. In this book, you can look forward to much more insight on Death’s mindset and learn more about him.

I am so excited for future installments and am so proud of Kat for this EPIC, one of a kind, story. You must read this book immediately!!!

* I was selected and given the DRC for my honest and unbiased review *

This was a hell* of a ride. I went in with as much as a blank slate as I could, but I am familiar with the books on Wattpad. Saying that, I read felt an array of emotions - I was sad, I laughed quite a bit, I was blushing, and so forth. Where do I start?

For one, the concept around Death being a character in literature is brilliant. Add that he's a smoldering, mysterious, and a funny main character - it's one of a kind. I'd say it's actually way ahead of its time - considering booktok is only relatively new and the public seem to have an interest in monster romance. With how long this book has been in its creation with its different versions (original, rewritten, DRC, so forth), it's definitely a classic and stands out on it's own from the rest. As I've mentioned, Death is a complex character with an even more traumatic past. You will hate him as much as you will sympathize for him, but you will also love him for the flawed being he is. (and my god. I love him).

Now, Faith. She's kickass, stands up for herself, and is stubborn at times. However, she has faults of her own and weaknesses - namely she is guided by her feelings and big heart. Faith, much like her name, tries to stay optimistic even when faced with Death. In this book, her heart is her family and those she cares about. When reading, you really feel the empathy that she has - even towards the characters in which you shouldn't necessarily sympathize for. Much like Death, I sympathize for Faith from the things she endures (and will endure in the future). A good heart does not last long when supernatural beings are wishful for your power/demise.

It's an interesting concept to see Death and Faith so intertwined through fate - to see how they interact as one, yet focus on each other's differences. To the reader, it feels very much like the two are connected, but yet they bicker and they are dishonest to each other (and with themselves). There's a longing, yet a distrust between the two. And yet, neither of them can really piece it together besides the bargain made to save Faith's life long ago. In time, I imagine we'll get to have some of our questions answered regarding more of the bargain and what lies in Faith's future. I am most excited to see how these characters grow.

Besides the two main ones - we have an array of other characters - some I will not spoil because it's too good. However, what I really enjoy with this book is that Miss Tonks does add some biblical elements to enrich the plot line. We aren't just dealing with Death, but a whole array of other characters in the realm of Hell (and maybe Heaven in the future). And in similar fashion, you grow to love these characters - regardless of their affiliation and I absolutely love this. Kat Tonks has beautifully crafted a novel in which you begin to see that these characters are all flawed in their own ways - even the ones you know are no good. You also begin to feel like [evil] sometimes may not be the one with bad intentions - not saying this is the case for the series, but just an outlook I've developed after reading this book. Hence, this is why I adore the book so much. It requires such a deeper level of understanding.
