I was fortunate enough to receive an audio-ARC of "Said No One Ever" by Stephanie Eding, and I have mixed feelings about my listening experience. While I appreciated certain aspects of the story, it ultimately fell short in others. In this review, I'll explore my thoughts on the book, including my connection to the characters and my gratitude for the opportunity to listen to the audio-ARC.

One of the strengths of "Said No One Ever" was the character development of Ellie and Marilyn. As a young woman struggling with anxiety and uncertainty, I strongly connected to Ellie and her journey. I rooted for her as she navigated post-college life and worked to overcome her fears. Similarly, I became attached to Marilyn and her story. The portrayal of her aging and the challenges that come with it was both realistic and poignant.

While I enjoyed the character development, I was less enthused about the plot and pacing of the story. The conflict lacked the high stakes I had hoped for, and I wanted more tension and excitement. The pacing felt slow, and some of the supporting characters needed to be more developed.

As for the audio-ARC, I'm grateful to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to listen. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters to life, and her performance was engaging and enjoyable. However, I sometimes wanted to skip forward due to the slow pacing.

Overall, "Said No One Ever" is a book that may appeal to readers who are looking for relatable characters and a slice-of-life story. However, those who want a more action-packed plot or faster pacing may be disappointed. As someone who connected with Ellie and Marilyn and appreciated the opportunity to listen to the audio-ARC, I give "Said No One Ever" a three-star rating.

My synopsis: City girl, Ellie Reed is a lost soul. She just broke up with her boyfriend, is looking for a new job, is losing her apartment and trying to deal with her overacheiving, meddling family. A vacation in countryside Montana sounds like a great idea to take a look at her life. Quiet countryside was what she was going for when she booked her vacation at the Airbnb. What she gets is a rollercoaster of a lifetime.

Two handsome men fighting for the control of the farm. A bulldog that seems to find her way in all types of trouble. And the spunky, prankster old widow that rented out the Airbnb for Ellie. It may not be the quiet vacation Ellie was thinking about, but it's definitely full of adventure she never thought she'd do.

Rating: I gave this book a 5 star rating. It was captivating from the beginning. I laughed through it all. I wanted to throttled Ellie's family and cheered her on when she stood her ground. Marilyn, the spunky widow, and her friend, Belle, shows us readers that you're never too old to have fun, to find yourself or find a lost love.

Cute and easy to listen to romcom! I personally enjoyed the references to my hometown of Columbus in this book. I thought the narrator did a great job with differentiating character’s voices.

Thank you, Netgalley and Dreamscape Media, for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was such a fun, feel-good read. I loved the terrific friendships and all of the shenanigans. This was definitely a buoy for my emotions as I was reading a heavier true-crime book. The friendship between Ellie and Marilyn is truly the highlight of the novel. Marilyn is a riot, and her scheming is absolutely hilarious. Ellie and Warren's romance is cute as well.

Overall, this was such a light, comical read that was full of fun, laughs and an adorable and fierce 82-year-old grandmother.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing me with an audio-arc of this book.

Said No One Ever is the second novel in the adult realm written by Stephanie Eding. She has also written in the many books in the young adult genre.

Ohio born Ellie (Eleanor) Reed needs a break! She has just broken up with her boyfriend of six years when she realizes he wants forever and she sees zero sparks. Her medical transcription job is disappearing in a company buy out. And the big plan her family has come up with for her is to nanny her sister’s three young children and help restore her late grandmother’s home to be sold. This sounds like purgatory!

Having already booked a vacation to a little house Airbnb in Choteau, Montana, Ellie leaves Ohio behind and ventures off in a story that will both tickle and bring on deep thought. Upon Ellie’s arrival, she is met with an ambulance taking her elderly landlord to the local hospital after a fall caused by her little bulldog Hilda. Ellie is now the only one on the ranch along with a flock of hens, a few sheep and goats, and a silly donkey named Sheriff.

Upon visiting her landlord, Marilyn Perry, in the hospital, Ellie learns how to care for the animals, who to call for help if needed, and what family members to be wary of or avoid. When Marilyn’s grandson, Warren Oliver, shows up to accuse her of scamming his grandmother, it takes a minute for Marilyn to set him straight when they visit her in rehab.

This story is funny, poignant, and has so many intertwined undercurrents, including ageism, family intervention, and fighting back for one’s own life! Such a good story, I do certainly recommend this smart and witty tale!

A feel-good, warm hug kind of read. When Ellie takes a chance on a random tiny home stay in Montana, she did not imagine meeting this delightful cast of characters! A sweet, independent grandma is at the center of it all! When an accident derails her whole getaway, Ellie has to deal with many opinions, farm animals, and her own future. I loved getting to know these characters, but I had hoped for more development.

I recommend this book for listening with the windows open while you do chores around the house. It is cozy, sweet, and does not require too much focus to get the gist.

Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and author Stephanie Eding for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Said No One Ever
by Stephanie Eding
Narrated by Stephanie Richardson

Rating: 5.0/5.0 Stars

I have never read a Stephanie Eding novel, but I will definitely be on the lookout for them from now on. I adored this book! The characters were phenomenal, Ms. Richardson's narration was spot on, and I enjoyed every minute of this unique, sweet, hysterical novel.

Ellie tries to escape for a bit to enjoy life and maybe get a little medical transcription work done with her last few dollars before figuring out what her life will look like now that she finally broke up with her long-term boyfriend. A little Airbnb type rental, it's the perfect place to get her thoughts together...until she sees the ambulance at the owner's house, taking her away. Now she's all alone at the property, and there's a farm full of animals that also need tending to. What is she going to do?

I really can't say enough good things about this story. This was a fantastic break from life, with unique characters and a well-thought-out plot. Even the not-so-wonderful characters were enjoyable. If you want an easy listen and a cute escape from life for a bit, I definitely recommend listening to or reading this book.

5 out of 5 stars

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to this audio book in exchange for am honest review.

This has to be one of the sweetest, cutest romances I have read! I loved every bit of it!

Ellie Reed breaks up with the perfect man (according to her family and friends anyway) and of course she also finds out at the same time that her medical stranscript work from home job is coming to an end. What is a girl to do when she feels she is being judged by her parents for once again not being as amazing as her older sister and trying to postpone the inevitable job of being a nanny for her sister? Well, she decides to go ahead and take the trip to Montana that she and her ex had booked! This leads to all kinds of misadventures including found family, romance and most importantly self discovery.

The writing by Stephanie Eding and the narration by Stephanie Richardson had me laughing and crying

What’s a girl to do when she undergoes a breakup and loses her job in the same week? For Eleanore (Ellie) Reed, the answers is simple. She books a trip to a small town in Montana, rents a small house, and plans to spend the next three weeks coming up with a new game plane.

Or so she thought.

Upon arriving at her Air B&B Ellie discovers that the elderly owner she is renting from, has taken a nasty fall. With no family around, Ellie drops her plans and helps nurse her new friend back to health. What started out as a relaxing vacation soon turns into lots of hard work.

This is a solid 3 star book. I had the pleasure of both listening and reading it. Both formats were enjoyable, but if I had to pick one, I would say I preferred the audiobook.

This is perfect for fans of cute, clean romances. As a result, it is appropriate for audiences of all ages.

Special thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and listen to this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

First of all, whenever I get the run away from your problems to a farm, I'm in. Giving me all the Hallmark vibes and in a good way. Next, we get an grandma figure who immediately loves the main character. Said grandma is ornery and amazing. We also have surly grandson who shows up out of nowhere.
ALSO, the narrator for the audio deserves an award, I loved her character voices!
Fun, hilarious, feel good. Highly recommend.

I adored this book! I’m a sucker for farm settings, as I have big animals myself. The hate to love situation between the two main characters was also realistic to me. It would totally make sense in real life to not immediately like a stranger that you think is robbing your grandma, so that was definately a plus for me! The story wasn’t rushed, was very quirky and just a fun romcon to read
I would definitely recommend this one for those looking for a fun, quick, and clean read.
I listened to the audiobook, and could follow the story easily while doing the chores for my animals, which is always important for me with audiobooks.

Said No One Ever is a sweet, clean story full of quirky characters. Ellie seemed to find her true calling in life when taking a vacation from the city and turning up on a farm B&B in a small town. I absolutely adore the grandmother Marilyn's character - I think we should all aspire to be so bold! I think this story would make an adorable Hallmark RomCom. The narration was very well done.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ALC

Will remind you why you love your grandma so much. I felt like the book could have been shorter, but it was a fun loving read.
