Hattie, our protagonist, always takes the same train and there she befriends a varied group of commuters until one day one of them dies in mysterious circumstances and that changes everything.
An intriguing beginning where we get to know the characters and build a story at a slow but steady pace. You know there is something under the surface but you don't discover it until the second part.
Although Hattie with her problems with alcohol for me has not been the most likable character the novel is highly entertaining and with a smooth style that grips you immediately.

A book I couldn’t put down, it was full of mystery until the very end, definitely an author to keep an eye on in the future, I’ve not read any of her books but I’m glad I have now

Hattie Sewell is a creature of habit. She takes the same train at the same time in the same car daily. By chance, she meets a group of strangers leading to events that will alter her very existence.

This was definitely a page turner!! I love every minute of this book. It's the prefect read for thriller/mystery fans.

I was initially unsure of this one, due to my thinking it was like another novel with a similar premise. However I was pleasantly surprised! It had an Agatha Christie whodunnit feel to it, which I really enjoyed. Some good characterisation and plotting!

I found this book lighter than others I have read by Alison James and although it was a little predictable I really enjoyed it. It reminded me slightly of some of the standalone mysteries by Agatha Christie. There was plenty of excitement and even a bit of romance. , i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it

Hattie takes the same train home each night. One night an accident causes it to stop, basically forcing the passengers to meet one another. They start hanging out until things goes wrong. One flees in the night. One ends up head. One isn’t who they said they are. Is Hattie in danger? Parts of it were predictable but overall it was a good book with some good suspense.

Hattie gets the 18.53 train home every night and sees the same faces on her commute. Then one day, when the train is held up, she gets to know some of those faces. What Hattie doesn't realise that this chance meeting will change her life, starting with a death...

I loved this book, the plot was exciting and tense and kept me gripped throughout. I couldnt put it down! Full of twists and turns, some brilliant shocks! Just fantastic!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

This was a great psychological thriller with great realistic characters. Hattie travels on the 18.53 train home every night. She sits in the same seat, in the same carriage, and sees the same people. The unwritten rule is you don’t talk to your fellow passengers. So when the train suddenly comes to a stop due to an emergency and they all have no choice but to talk to each other while waiting after this things take a drastic turn in Hattie’s life who can she trust. Which of these passengers are telling the truth and how dangerous can one of them be.

Fantastic psychological thriller which had me hooked from the first chapter. Would definitely be recommending this to all who loves a fast paced thriller with lots of twists and turns.

The Woman in Carriage 3 is a psychological thriller that centers around a group of strangers that slowly get to know one another as they all ride the 18.53 train each day. Hattie's life is currently a mess; she lost her job, her boyfriend left her, and she is back living with her parents. But after getting to know some fellow commuters, she feels her life may possibly have direction once again. However, how well does she really know these individuals? What are they hiding?

I found the book to be quite predictable. I had already figured out who everyone truly was before being halfway through the book. Once I knew the big "reveals", the book began to drag. I also found quite a few aspects of the book to be very unrealistic, especially the situation with the police. Additionally, other than possibly Julian, none of the characters are likeable, which makes caring about what happens to them difficult. Overall, The Woman in Carriage 3 was simply not for me.

This was absolutely unputdownable! I read a lot and am quite hard to impress now but I loved everything about this book.

The plot was so engaging, the writing style was nice and the characters were so realistic and well-developed. The book was really well-paced and I became invested very quickly. Every chapter advanced the story and whatever else I was doing, I found myself desperate to come back to the book!

I would 100% recommend this, it's probably my favourite book of the year so far.

This was absolutely amazing! I was captivated from the start, the characters are so well written and real. They're also really likeable and I was so invested in them from the oust. Obv a thriller based on strangers meeting on a train sounds familiar shall we say but this is such a unique plot and I was so intrigued to see where the plot wad going and what was going to happen. There are a few twists so it kept me guessing and the writing flows so naturally and easily. An absolute must read

Read this one over a few hours and loved it! Hattie travels on the 18.53 train home every night. She sits in the same seat, in the same carriage, and sees the same people. The unwritten rule is you don’t talk to your fellow passengers, but Hattie has been watching them all for months now to distract herself from her own troubles.
Then one night a commuter suddenly drops dead. And the terrible accident changes everything. A simply riveting and compulsive page-turner of a read from cover to cover. A deftly scripted mystery with more twists and turns than a roller coaster.

Strangers meet on a train, commuting to work. They become somewhat friends and have get togethers. These characters are realistic but not really likable. That is fine because this is a mystery with much intrigue. We don't have to like the characters. The story moves quickly with red herrings to throw us off the ending. Don't worry with discerning what will happen. Enjoy the book and the journey...strangers on a train. Who is the killer? Who is the victim? This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author.
