First time reading a book by Diane Jeffrey but I’ll certainly be reading more. I was gripped from the first page until the last by the devastating but captivating storyline. Sometimes you just want somebody to get their comeuppance and I certainly did in this book. It was inconceivable that Nick and Kirsten should get away with what they’d done but sometimes in life, justice doesn’t always prevail. However, Amy was determined to make sure it did and boy did she make sure.
I found myself hating the obnoxious Nick and Kirsten and feeling heartfelt story for Amy , which in my opinion shows what a good writer Diane Jeffrey is. The pace of the story never let up throughout the book but when it stepped up a notch further I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to find out if Amy succeeded with her plan. I wasn’t disappointed.
There was a couple of hair raising moments towards the end when it looked like Amy’s plan would be thwarted but at each step she managed to outwit Kirsten. I absolutely loved it and look forward to more from this author.

My first Diane Jeffrey book! Reading great reviews of this book on Bookstagram had me rushing to request it. Thanks to the publishers for granting me late access to this one and taking a chance that I’d be able to review it quickly. I appreciate the opportunity.

Author Diane Jeffrey led me forward through her carefully curated twists and curves toward her alluring, yet satisfying, resolution. The entire read was filled with anticipation, both in what her characters and in what I felt. The addition of letters throughout added to my curiosity.

Although I didn’t really care for any of the characters, I was still really invested in the outcome. I had a need to see whether justice would be served. Would the cheaters get caught? Would the widow get closure? What about Rusty?

I appreciated how the author gave me all the necessary bits of information and allowed me to piece all the pieces together myself. Being an active participant made me inherently more invested. It was a fantastic balance of the reader knowing more than the characters and some of the characters knowing more than others which made it such a compelling read.

Now that I know I like Jeffrey’s writing style, I’ll be adding her to my auto-read list.

This taut mystery is one that you’ll gladly trade chores and reality for some ‘feverishly turning pages’ time.

I was gifted this copy by HQ Digital and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I haven’t read any of Diane Jeffrey’s previous novels, but The Other Couple is her sixth.
The novel has chapters written from the viewpoints of two women – Kirsten and Amy.
We begin with Kirsten and Nick who have just had a lovely break away at the North Devon seaside, but are due to return to London later that day. On their way home, they accidentally kill a man. But due to the secrets they are trying to keep, they decide not to ring 999 but to hide the body and act as though it didn’t happen. After all, Kirsten has her husband Jamie and daughter Lily (7) to think of too.
Amy is pregnant and waiting for her husband Greg to come home after taking the dog out for a walk. He never returns…
We follow Kirsten and Amy’s stories after this event which changes so much, especially for Amy.
I was into the story straight away and interested in what was going to happen next. I was definitely on Amy’s side, as Kirsten comes across as rather selfish and ruthless. It’s all very twisty-turny and you can’t guess where it’s going to go, it keeps you on your toes – which I love!
This is just my kind of book, a great story that pulls you in and begs you to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. I read the last 30% or so of the book in one go, it was so exciting and I was desperate to see how everything turned out. It didn’t disappoint at all, I loved it and will definitely be looking for more of Diane Jeffrey’s books to read now.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was an exhilarating experience from start to finish. The storyline was fast-paced and had me on the edge of my seat, eagerly turning the pages to uncover the next twist and turn.

While I found some aspects to be a tad far-fetched, I couldn't deny the sheer entertainment value this book provided. The author skillfully wove together multiple perspectives, drawing me into the lives of characters, and their complex web of secrets and consequences.

As I delved deeper into the story, I couldn't shake the feeling that the narrative would translate exceptionally well onto the screen. The suspenseful atmosphere, combined with the intricacies of the characters' lives, made me envision 'The other couple' as a thrilling TV series or film.

Overall, 'The other couple' provided me with an enthralling reading experience. It kept me engaged, and left me pondering the depths people would go to when pushed to their limits. If you're a fan of fast-paced thrillers with a touch of escapism, I highly recommend giving this book a read.

Love her books and this one was awesome! The plot revolves around two couples: Amy, husband Greg and Kirsten, husband Jamie (daughter Lily). Their lives become so intertwined as it's a brilliantly plotted and convoluted story when an accident kills one of them, setting off a chain of events that will change all of their lives completely! Jeffrey speaks to themes of passion, adultery, blackmail...all of the gruesome and crazy schemes people can devise when caught up in their own dreams! I raced through it as i simply could not put it down!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

*Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher/author for providing me with an E-arc of this book. The following is my honest opinion*

I did not see the plot twist coming. I pride myself in being able to figure it out somewhat early in books and the fun part of it, for me, is finding out how we get to that point in the story. This book- not at all! Just when I think I figure it out, change in direction. Finally think I got it, changes again.

One of my favorite things about this book is how great of a job Diane Jeffrey does portraying the characters, the emotions that they are experiencing and the actions that stem from them. This book grabs you and keeps you enthralled until the very end.

I highly recommend this book!

Synopsis:
Amy and Greg, a happily married couple expecting their first baby, have their world turned upside down the night Greg doesn’t return home from his nightly routine of walking their dog. Kirsten and Nick, wealthy lovers with narcissistic tendencies, can’t believe their bad luck when they are involved in a hit-and-run, but refuse to take any blame or let this inconvenience destroy them.

My thoughts:
Questionable morals, secret lives, revenge seeking… this book has it all. Such a great fast-paced thriller, you’ll definitely want to add this to your summer reading list. The characters were well developed, the storyline was intense and plausible, add in some great twists and you’ve got a book that will keep you highly engaged through-out. Highly Recommend this book.

Reason 187 on why you should NOT have an affair...cuz if you mow someone down while off on a secret getaway, it makes doing the right thing even more difficult. Then again, doing the right thing wasn't really your strong suit anyway, now was it? Things quickly go off the rails for this philandering couple when they accidentally hit and kill a pedestrian out walking his dog, decide to run, move the body, and take the dog with them. Dumb decisions are made (even dumber than deciding to hide the crime), and spiral out of control quickly, with the wife left behind to wonder what happened to her husband on a mission to figure things out. Yeah, it was a little bit of a stretch on how fortuitious it was for her to able to figure those things out, but I loved how it all played out!!!

Kirsten and Nick are on their way home from an illicit tryst in Devon when they accidentally run over Owen who is walking a dog. As they've been drinking they immediately decide to try to cover it up, bundling Owen's body into the boot for later disposal. Meanwhile, Owen's wife is at home waiting for him to come back and eat his roast dinner. Gradually Amy pieces together what has happened and vows to get vengeance on whoever has killed her husband.

What I liked: This is an easy to read thriller. Kirsten is perhaps the best drawn character. She is selfish and snobbish and definitely doesn't deserve her husband and child. There are several chapters which are letters written from prison. The author does a good job of casting suspicion as to who might be writing these.

What I wasn't sure of: This should have been a really emotional read. Amy is left bereft and Owen's parents too. But I didn't really feel that this was adequately shown. The emotions are not powerful enough for what is, after all, a terrible injustice. The fury and sorrow at finding out just what happened was too muted.

Overall, an engaging enough read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Kirsten and Nick have been enjoying a romantic break in Croyde Bay, the problem is on their way home they accidentally run over and kill a man (Greg) Instead of sending for help, they decide to cover it up, they both have too much to lose. Poor Amy Greg's wife she knows something is wrong when he doesn't come back from walking Rusty their dog after a few hours. Amy calls the police , but they don't take her seriously and think he's just walked out - but why didn't Rusty come back? Greg's body washes up in the Thames and then the police begin to take Amy seriously.
Told in the first and third person and also with some letters from prison, it really keeps you reading until the early hours!!!!

Many thanks NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this. Netflix, take note I would love to see this being adapted for a series!!!!

What a great read that was. I always enjoy this authors books but this was exceptionally good. Amy and Greg live in North Devon and life is good. But everything changes one day when Greg and their labrador Rusty go for a walk in the heavy rain. Brilliantly plotted and so well written this is that often overused phrase ‘a real page turner’. Told in the first and third person from the POV’s of Amy and Kirsten, alongside letters from an unnamed prisoner, this is suspense at its best.

Briefly, with no sign of Greg or Rusty Amy contacts the police. They think he has simply done a runner and nothing happens until a body floats ashore from the Thames a month later. At the same time Kirsten and Nick were sharing an illicit break from their partners in Croyde Bay. After a drunken lunch they drive home to London but on route they have an unfortunate and fatal accident.

So the scene is set for a quite brilliant and compelling dark thriller full of deceit and revenge. We see how initial events lead to a path of destruction. You will not want to put this book down! A gripping and tense read with some great twists and turns, the ending ultimately satisfying and I loved it.

The Other Couple by Diane Jeffrey is a simply marvellous contemporary psychological suspense that had me mesmerized from the start.
Diane Jeffrey is masterful at her craft as she draws the reader in, leading us with our emotional responses to her characters. We cling on to the narrative for dear life.
The story is told in the first and third person from two alternating points of view. As such, we become intimately acquainted with the characters.
We witness the total desolation that comes with loss. “I have nothing left to lose. I’ve already lost everything.” Desperation takes over as a character relentlessly searches for answers, employing tactics that she never realized lay within.
The weather mirrors the action as Diane Jeffery employs the literary device of pathetic fallacy. As the storm clouds gather, they mirror a character’s inner turmoil.
All the characters are well drawn and realistic. Not all are likable, nor were they intended to be. Our responses are led by the powerful pen of Diane Jeffrey.
I loved the inclusion of Rusty the dog. His zest for life was infectious. It was easy to picture him bounding along.
The characters fell into the categories of innocence and experience. The ones in the former category were by far, the more likable.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Other Couple. It was an entertaining and gripping read. I paused only to sleep as The Other Couple took over my life for a few hours.
I think The Other Couple would make a fabulous Netflix series – any producers out there, please take note.
I received a free copy from the author as part of a blog tour with Rachel’s Random Resources. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

I'm not usually a fan of domestic thriller but this one kept me on the edge and turning pages.
It starts very strong and never stops keeping you hooked and on the edge. I loved to hate some of the characters and was surprised by the twists.
The solution was satisfying.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

My first Diane Jeffrey novel but won’t be my last! I totally enjoyed this psychological drama and was hooked from the beginning. Awesome characters that worked well with the alternating POVs and kept the stopping at a fast clip. Flew through this one and stayed up way past my bedtime.
Thank you Diane Jeffrey, NetGalley and HQ/Harper Collins for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed this book, the intertwining tales of Amy & Greg & Kirsten & Nick.
A book of love and hate and revenge and a wonderful plot of whodunnit and will they get away with it.
Most enjoyable read for a long time.

4.5 stars rounded up.

Kirsten and Nick are enjoying a weekend away until, on their way home, they accidently run over and kill a man. They should call for help - but they have too much to lose, and no one can know the real reason they're here. Instead, they make a split=second decision to conceal the accident.

Amy and Greg have just celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. Amy is expecting a baby and they couldn't be happier. So, when Grag fails to come home from a dog walk one weekend, Amy knows the police are wrong to believe he left on his own accord. Someone must be behind Greg's disappearance, and Amy won't give up until she gets justice - or revenge.

What a cleverly crafted plot this story has. The characters are well developed and likeable. I was hooked from the first page, and I couldn't put the book down. We follow a game of cat and mouse between Amy, and Nick and Kirsten. I was rooting all the way for Amy to get justice. Each chapter is told from a different character. There are also letters written by an anonymous prisoner throughout the book. The last 10% was the best part of the book. This is a tense and suspense filled read. The pace is steady. This is a well written and gripping read.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #HQ and the author #DianeJeffrey for my ARC of #TheOtherCouple in exchange for an honest review.
