This Is another amazing book that is at the top of my Assassin's Creed reading list, because Kate has manged to create another passionate and jaw dropping adventure that is full of plot twits and philosophical looks on the franchises important moments. Alongside her last book Magus Conspiracy,The Resurrection Plot is another story that I believe all fans new and old should read.

Assassin’s Creed: The Resurrection Plot is by far my favorite piece of transmedia for the series and possibly of all AC titles. It is a book that fans of the series should read after finishing the first as it is well supported as a follow-up, but it can stand on its own as enough backstory is provided to new readers. For those that are new to the series, The Engine of History trilogy is a great introduction to the property as it is a fantastic piece of historical fiction that would stand out in any gamer, historian, or reader’s library. The praise I have for Kate Heartfield’s work continues to grow as her acknowledgements to the community that she has found a home in, as a fan-favorite writer, is heartfelt and a nice thank you. I wish only the best for her as she brings The Engine of History to a close.

Once again, Heartfield strikes gold; the sequel to 2022’s The Magus Conspiracy is action-packed, narratively gripping and visually striking, just as much as the video game series that it’s based on.

The Resurrection Plot is fast-paced, and somehow I read through it even quicker than its predecessor. Seriously, I was on chapter 14 before I looked up and saw that it had only been an hour. It’s almost as if the very characters themselves are reaching out from the page to say “Where have you been? There are adventures to be had!”

It’s the mark of a magnificent writer who knows both her audience and the source material so well that pre-existing characters who were once name-dropped in the Magus Conspiracy are now full-fledged attendees to the show. All of this is done without stepping on the toes of established canon, and even extending it more than a little bit.

Set the year following my favourite in the series Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015), the novel hardly steps on the Frye Twins’ toes. We’re treated to the well-connected world, the master writer at play, able to pull out a reference to history or lore as if breathing. Of course, as an archaeology student, I had to fawn over the lavish descriptions of Egypt and the ancient ruins there.

In a very meta sense, Kate Heartfield partially resurrects the characterisation of some personal favourites that I think many in the fanbase once believed Ubisoft had finished with. It’s utterly refreshing to see in a franchise full of male protagonists that we let two female protagonists from two different stories just be friends. Evie and Pierrette’s companionship is delightful and speaks of a rich history of female friendship that is rarely told in such franchises.

I had enjoyed the first book in the series The Magus Conspiracy a lot and am a fan of the Assassin's Creed video game series. This book had a great concept in the series and I loved the history elements in the story. The characters felt like they belonged in the Assassin's Creed series and were written perfectly. I enjoyed the way Kate Heartfield wrote this and can't wait for more.

"If only they hadn’t all turned on her, they’d be together now. She felt a little of the resentment returning, waiting to be nurtured into flame. She resisted. Somewhere Gamal would be working on the problem, lantern or no lantern. That was what they did, after all, she thought with a bitter smile. They worked in the darkness to serve the light."

Assassin's Creed: The Resurrection Plot is a thrilling adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Set in 19th century Europe, this globetrotting tale follows the Brotherhood of Assassins as they try to stop the Templars from taking control of the future and eradicating free will.

The main character, Pierrette Arnaud, is a fierce and determined Assassin who is not afraid to take risks to uncover the truth. Her old friend and teacher Simeon Price also makes an appearance in this story, adding depth to the plot and reminding readers of the past events that brought them together to fight the Templars in London.

The story is full of twists and turns as the Assassins race against time to stop the Templars' nefarious plans. The writing is engaging and vivid, transporting readers to exotic locations across Europe and Africa. The attention to historical detail adds another layer of richness to the story, making it feel like you are actually living in the 19th century.

Assassin's Creed: The Resurrection Plot is a must-read for fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise, as well as anyone who loves a good action-packed adventure. Whether you are new to the series or a longtime fan, you won't be able to put this book down until you've reached the thrilling conclusion.
