I've come to realise that sometimes we might absolutely LOVE an author BUT not every series/book.

I've devoured previous books - The Boyfriend, The Girl Who Came Back... - BUT I just can't seem to get into the Whitecliff Bay series and have realised it's just not a series for me.

It most definitely doesn't put me off the author, just this series personally, I think purely for the fact that I can't connect with any of the characters and the pace feels too slow to grab my attention.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

Kerry Wilkinson, The Ones Who Are Hidden (A Whitecliff Bay Mystery Book 4), Bookouture, May 2023.

Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with this uncorrected proof for review.

Kerry Wilkinson has once again combined appealing continuing characters, Millie (and her son Eric, and divorced husband and his new wife) and Guy (and his nephew), with a new mystery that they must solve. At the same time, their stories are given more substance with each interaction between them and their family members. Some continuing stories reach resolution, cleverly associated with issue brought to the fore through the investigation, while new questions arise – hopefully, another book in the series will be written to resolve these. In the meantime, Kerry Wilkinson has begun writing other material (the Sleepover series) so we might have to wait. For me, the manner in which Wilkinson raises issues, and uses the continuing characters’ development as well as the new investigations to resolve these, is worth the wait.

This work brings together Millie and Guy in an investigation that has its genesis thirty years in the past. Oliver, Eric’s guitar teacher finds a tattoo behind his ear and meets with another person with a similar tattoo. They were victims of a cult when they were babies, and one sinister adult member of the cult remains intent on reprisals against them and the woman who rescued them. Other story lines also link with past relationships and actions and are played out alongside the mystery of the tattoos.

Wilkinson’s characters remain appealing, even after questions are raised about their honesty and motivation. Millie is left with serious questions about some of her friends. However, she finds the strength to deal not only with this, but the most serious issue in her life, custody of her son Eric. From Book 1, of the Whitecliff Bay Mysteries Millie has evolved from a character whose life is precarious because of the death of her parents, and questions about her role in this and her affair and its impact on her personal and economic status. She has become a successful investigator as part of her friendship with Guy and has dealt with a close friend’s duplicity. She has found answers to some of her questions, and those that remain are worth pursuing. I hope that Kerry Wilkinson returns to Whitecliff Bay to answer these as I have found the series a genuinely engaging read.

This is perhaps my most favorite book series from Kerry Wilkinson, and I'm going to pick up the other books on Kindle soon. It's not your usual thriller nor a cozy mystery. I would say it falls somewhere in between and is almost like a comfort read for me. I can't wait to see what happens next in the small town of Whitecliff.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

This author is incredible - I haven't read a book of his that didn't have me engrossed, turning the pages, keeping me guessing. Whenever I read one of his books, I make sure I have nothing else going on as once I start, I have to finish - his books are that addictive. And this one was just wow! I loved loved loved this incredibly suspenseful, absolutely wonderful read.

This is book 4 in the series, but the first I have read. The book starts off with an interesting premise- how can 2 total strangers have the same mark behind their ear? As you start getting into the book, the savey reader will quickly guess why and might make some assumptions. AH, but there are some twists in this mystery! All is not what it seems! With a roller coaster ending, this may be a book series for those staying home this summer!

The fourth book in the ‘Whitecliff Bay’ series by author Kerry Wilkinson, and I have loved every one. It ended with a huge cliffhanger and I just can’t wait for the next one. Absolutely loved this series. My thanks to Kerry, the publishers and Netgalley for this ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author, for the free copy of this book. This was, again, a great read from the series Whitecliff Bay Mystery. I am so invested in Millie's story, her friends and the mystery each book brings. The mystery to be solved in this book was so unexpected and interesting. The author's storytelling style is so easy to follow and so enjoyable. From beginning to end, this story was fascinating, uncomplicated and engaging. Loved this book and series!

This one had my attention from the start. Having a hidden tattoo, you don’t remember getting. Someone else having the same tattoo and story. Tell me more. I didn’t want to put this one down. And like in the previous installments, there is more than just the one story keeping the reader engaged.

With each new book, I like Millie and Guy a little more. While this book focuses more on Millie and she has a lot of character growth in this one. She is forced into standing up for herself and I applaud that. She was always a little pushed by her circumstances and now she is creating her path.

This series reminds me a little of a TV crime series. There is a stand alone mystery in each book, but the characters have issues and develop throughout the series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but you get a slightly bigger picture by reading them all.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy of "The Ones Who Are Hidden" in exchange for my honest review.

This is book #4 in the Whitecliff Bay mystery series. It takes place over 8 days and continues the story of Millie Westlake and the odd adventures that she accidentally gets mixed up in. This time she is in the wrong place at the wrong time when she witnesses a robbery in a shop. Then her son Eric's guitar teacher Oliver asks her to find out why he has a tattoo of a flower on the back of his ear. Then they end up meeting other people with the same tattoo which puts Millie in danger once again.

Guy also has some adventures with someone claiming to be his son. Millie may have finally found a way to get full custody of her son back from her ex, Alex. She also figures out who told the press that she was having the affair with the MP.

The ending is very open so it seems that there will possibly be more books in the series - more stories to tell.

I am loving this series.
Millie Westlake just seems to attract weird happenings so if anything strange is happening in Whitecliffe Bay you can guarantee Millie will be involved.
The stories are intriguing and the added elements in her love add to the story.
Can’t wait for the next one.

This is the Forth book in the Whitecliff Bay Mystery series and I must say this series just gets better and better. If you enjoy an intriguing plot with really likeable characters then this series is for you, I would recommend reading the series in order to fully understand some of the on going issues with the main characters.

Having been totally hooked on the first three books in the series I was delighted not to have to wait ages for the next one to come along! Millie Westlake is collecting her son from his guitar lessons when his teacher Oliver shows her a small mark behind his ear he'd not noticed before. On closer inspection it looks like a crude tattoo of a daisy. When a woman living close by has an identical tattoo it becomes a mystery that needs answers. Again Millie calls on Guy & his extensive archive of Whitecliff news for help & they uncover something none of them could have guessed.

This book takes the spotlight off Guy as Oliver & Millie do most of the sleuthing. It was a pleasure to meet the various characters again. One of the things I like about these books is the life that goes on around the mystery & the development of events in their lives. It was a very enjoyable read & I hope it won't be too long before we return to Whitecliff. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

When Oliver finds a tattoo behind his ear that he doesn't remember having done he turns to Millie to see if she can find out what the tattoo means. They were not expecting what would happen once others found out about their tattoo.
This book was fast paced throughout and I really enjoyed reading it.

Millie seems to have a life surrounding mysteries. Recently divorced and then in the midst of a robbery that has a mystery of its own. Her son's guitar player asks her about a small tattoo on his ear. He never knew it was there, and doesn't know what it is about. He finds another local woman who has the same tattoo and the same story. Where did these come from? After digging around and with the help of her God father Guy, they learn about the local cult that was in town, but was burned down. Oliver and Millie realize that their clues seem to be hidden in plain sight. It leads them to a woman who has most of the answers and leads them to danger at the same time.

I really enjoyed the book, this was my first time reading a book by the author. I would read more of this series. The cult story was interesting it brought at thrilling mystery pushing me to want to read more. I did like Millie, and was glad she decided to confront some of her issues in her life. I can only hope to get what she needs since the book kind of left a cliff hanger.

I've been so hectic with book tours that I still haven't managed to read books two and three yet, but I will be, because Wilkinson is a really talented author and I'm loving this series.

Back in Whitecliff Bay we join Millie Westlake once again as she sets out to solve another mystery. What exactly are the daisy shaped markings, what do they mean?

The plot is intense, intriguing and takes us on a fast paced ride through Whitecliff. The more I read of them, the more I'm becoming invested in the central characters and can't wait to read more about them in future additions.

Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.
