What a gorgeous read.
Let's start with the felines, and wow there are a lot of cats in this, for its a rather huge and busy cat sanctuary. And all the humans are volunteering there or working there, for their own reasons. They all have secrets of their own, and gain so much from their time with the cats.
I really enjoyed getting to know Sasha, Anna, Mim, Paul and Luke and their various dynamics. And the fight to keep the rescue centre in business after they are being kicked out of their current location is innovative.
I especially found I was drawn to Anna, who initially drove me bonkers with her overthinking every single thing, but once I realised just how and why she is like she is, I felt rather protective and just wanted good things to happen for her. And I also really liked Luke, who although going about things initially not in the best way, hangs around and slowly forms bonds with everyone, in a really heartwarming way.
This was the first book I'd read from Charlie Lyndhurst and I'm sure it won't be the last. I was drawn in by the promise of cats, but stayed for the complex characters and their changing relationships. It was a very
entertaining story to read.
Thank you to Hera and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
What a great concept that a voluntary role in a cat sanctuary is the place those struggling go to and find solace and support from each other.
A lovely light and uplifting story
DNF’d at 50 percent.
I’m sorry what the heck did I read, I expected something sweet relatable, heart wrenching but all I got was something that did not make sense. But I loved the cats aspect
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
A great idea for a book but it was a bit slow for me.
I’m a cat lover and the thought of a book set in a cat sanctuary caught my interest.
Unfortunately the book itself was not too interesting.
Unfortunately this was a DNF for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity.
DNF’d at 25% because this wasn’t for me. Very slow start and I wasn’t connecting with the characters. I never wanted to pick the book back up so I think I’m the wrong audience. I do think the writing is good and the premise has potential so I’m rating it 3 stars.
A sweet, comforting read about multiple characters in Essex who volunteer/work at a cat shelter.
I enjoyed the escapism, but I found the way the book focussed on mental health and one the character’s process with grief condescending. While I finished the book, I would not recommend to anyone who is struggling with grief, or hoarding.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the read.
Thank you so much for my copy. I recently adopted a cat, so was instantly drawn to the cat rescue storyline.
Overall I enjoyed this one, it had multiple characters each with their own stories throughout the chapters. I really loved that they all volunteered with cats as they were looking for some comfort in their lives. I was really happy to have LGBT+ relationship representation and happy endings for all of the characters. I would have liked to have had more on each characters stories as it felt a little rushed in parts.
I recommend this one, especially to anyone who loves cats as much as me!
Any cat lover, cosy lover, this is a book you can curl up on the sofa and read in an entire sitting. Thank you so much for this ARC!!
A story of friendship, cats and budding love affairs. Based around a cat sanctuary, Fluffy Paws, the story weaves together several friends stories as they struggle with money, finding a birth parent, rescuing and re homing cats, as well as looking for a new home for the cat sanctuary when the landlord sells their current base out from under them. Mostly enjoyable although felt a little disjointed in places, struggled to get into the book until over half way through. Lovely to read a book about cats though.
As someone who is a life long crazy cat lady I was naturally drawn to this book. It was light and enjoyable with some great characters but to be honest I would have liked the actual cats to feature more in the story
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and of course the author for gifting me this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Quite a chilled read but I didn't feel like much happened, but the cat lover in me enjoyed reading it.
I love cats so I was so excited to read this, but even though cats are mentioned in the title, they were definitely not the stars of this novel.
Sasha runs a cat rescue called Fluffy Paws outside of London and has 3 volunteers helping to take care of the cats. A young man shows up out of the blue and ends up volunteering as well. All of the volunteers, plus Sasha, have their own personal problems ranging from mental health issues to relationship issues to infertility. Being at the rescue helps each of them in one way or another.
There was a huge juxtaposition because while the writing itself was juvenile, the issues of each character were not. I found the characters to be stress inducing, probably because I’m going through my own stressful situation right now.
I found the resolutions to be vapid and the entire book read like it was thrown together over a weekend.
I seriously had my doubts with this one but picked it anyway because I was hoping for a cat filled heart warming book, but unfortunately all I got was a chest filled of stress.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
An interesting story of unlikely friends brought together by a cat sanctuary. Heartwarming.
Many thanks to Hera and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I love it as it's a well plotted and heartwarming story. The cat lover throughly enjoyed it and the read had a lot of fun.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I love how cute this book is . It's a lovely relaxing read. The dynamics of Luke and his adoptive parents are so heartfelt and real.Luke is looking for Sasha, the charity's director, who also happens to be his birth mother. Despite his adopted parents' reservations and Sasha's avoidance, he is committed to learning who he is. He discovers so much more. Every character has been hurt. They all are unaware of it, but they all require the friendship and support of the people they travel the road of saving the rescue and finding new homes for the cats with.
Paul, Anna, and Mim are present, and Mim ends up being the driving force behind a lot of the positive events. They develop a profound affection and purpose for the cats., this is not the book for you if you're seeking for cute cat stories. This article is about the staff members of a nonprofit cat sanctuary. They all dealt with concerns like loneliness, mental health, regrets, fear, etc. in their own unique ways. In that regard, it was wonderful to witness how supportive and loving they were of one another.
Really sorry but this was a DNF for me. I gave this book a try but I just couldn’t get into it. Rather too serious for a cosy read, the cosy in the title is a little misleading.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this story
I absolutely loved this book, a cosy sweet read with cats - whats not to love!
Thank you to Hera Books and Netgalley for the e-arc.
Volunteering at a cat shelter during dark times helped me immensely, so when I saw this book I bought it immediately! My wonderful experience was faithfully mirrored in the narrative, and the volunteers likewise had their own stories. I’m glad there was a happy ending for everyone. Such a lovely book to read on the beach, in bed - or any time you need cheering up! Loved it.
