This is a very detailed and practical guide to understanding the full extent of intermittent fasting. Additionally, it provides specifics on how intermittent fasting affects hormones and how there are different ways to practice intermittent fasting.

This book was really informative and easy to read. I didn't feel like I was getting bogged down in the intricacies of research, but was glad to see that it was clearly backed up by plenty of scientific findings. It also had plenty of real life examples, and the author's own personal journey as well, which I enjoyed.

One thing I wasn't so sure of was the conflicting advice it gave on when women should fast. Having also read Fast Like a Girl: A Woman’s Guide to Using the Healing Power of Fasting to Burn Fat, Boost Energy, and Balance Hormones by Dr. Mindy Pelz, I was confused to see that Megan Ramos advocates women fasting at any time of the month - which Pelz suggests is untrue.

I'd recommend this book as an intro to fasting as it gives some great advice in a clear and easy way to understand. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc of this book.

This is a really interesting book dealing with fasting to optimise health benefits. I liked the analogies used to illustrate science which made it easier to understand the way of eating in practice. Its really useful for diabetics and guides you through the various stages of fasting and how to do it safely.
There are real people's own stories to show how effective this way of eating is which makes it seem more achievable.

I thought this was an interesting read, which was well written and supported by research. It has a good approach and starts with a very gentle introduction to fasting. I am mildly curious and I thought that this was a good place to start to learn about fasting. I don't feel quite ready to commit just now, but this is a book I will return to when I am ready to try! My weight has begun to creep up and this may be the strategy I need to keep it under control and feel good again.

If you're struggling with your metabolism and hormone health, this book is a very informative resource. The author shares easy-to-follow fasting protocols and valuable insights to help you achieve lasting results.

Much of the info would be interesting and apply to men too, but I understand this book targets women. They're often the ones seeking preventative solutions, which naturally provides a lot of research and data to inform the content of the book.

I've been doing IF for years now so a lot of this was a refresher. I started by reading Jason Fung's The Obesity Code (where I was first introduced to Megan Ramos). Then, I read another book that helped me experiment with the "clean fast" – and that made the process feel a little easier for me; that's when the weight started coming off.

With this book, I can really appreciate the number of people Ms. Ramos has worked with and the resulting data from all that. I hit a plateau and this book offered some ideas about what could be going on, and presented some strategies to implement and the motivation to try them.

Come for the weight loss, stay for the health benefits. This book is a great resource and reminder of why I enjoy IF.

I loved reading a book by a woman for women's health. Sometimes you need that straight in the face info to see the changes needed. I enjoyed reading the text and using that for my own health journey. So much of what the author wrote about, we've seen and we know that women's bodies are different then men's and it was a refreshing take on righting ourselves and moving our journey along.

This book is great for those that want to find out more about Intermittent fasting, I found the background really informative, however did get a little frustrated as I felt that at times it circled the fasting rather than actually just telling you how to fast.. This book tends to focus more on longer fasting such as a day at a time up to multiple days, whilst I think most people are more suited to the more common fasting methods of 16:8 etc.

If you want to find out the science behind fasting then I would reccomend

This book provides a wealth of information regarding fasting, health, and the way the body works.
This book goes being what your average doctor knows.
I have a friend who's a doctor and she told me that they have one class on nutrition and that doctors in general don't know anything about nutrition.
Get this book, take notes on it. Bookmark the pages and highlight. Then bring it to you next doctor appoint and be prepared to advocate for yourself. This book could save your life.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this in response for an honest review.

I’m sat somewhere in the middle for whether I liked this or didn’t. It’s VERY informative. Full of scientific knowledge. A lot of writing. …and yes it’s all good information but I feel like I just read a text book. I liked the tables for the intermittent guides. I found it useful that it talked about high fat ingredients to break fast with. I would have loved some example recipes of what to eat at different times of the day but I suppose that’s going to be very different depending on need. Overall, useful but not sure how much I will take from it.

This is super informative for anyone new to intermittent fasting. For those who are semi familiar with fasting, it's a great refresher. The research backed data and science speaks for itself and is detailed in this book. I especially liked the format and layout that made it an easy read and not intimidating.

While this book seems promising for women who want to learn how to intermittent fast, I think it can be pretty misleading. The author claims that women can easily intermittent fast and it's healthy for them, but a lot of research out there contradicts this and suggests that it really isn;t good for women and is only good for men. The body of a woman and a body of a man are very different so while fasting may work very well for me, the hormones women have and the levels at which they have them make their bodies not an ideal space for intermittent fasting. In fact, it can be very unhealthy, dangerous and actually lead to weight gain, rather than weight loss. I'd caution women against taking anything in this book too seriously and to strongly consider not fasting. Do your research, and don't take this book at face value. With that being said, some parts of the book were good and accurate, like the sections explaining what hormones are and what they do, especially when it comes to women, and the section that states that women with disordered eating histories should not fast.

This is actually more than I was expecting. Rather than intermittent fasting, this book details how to completely fast, like days worth. I think I have too many health issues for this, but others may love it.

Intermittent fasting is the 'thing' at the moment and something I'm actively looking into through blogs. So the chance to check out a book on the subject was a welcome read.
This book covers it all and I mean all. From the chemistry and biology to the steps and the benefits. It's a heavy read and a little bit more in depth than I was looking for.
I was looking for a casual intro.
This book is great for those who want the full look at the new old eating habit.
Grab this book for a change in mindset to diets and fads.

I just finished The Essential Guide to Intermittent Fasting for Women
Balance Your Hormones to Lose Weight, Lower Stress, and Optimize Health
by Megan Ramos

Just a quick synopsis of the book….

In The Essential Guide to Intermittent Fasting for Women, Ramos shares:
- Easy-to-use fasting protocols that can be incorporated into your busy schedule
- Information on when and how to eat to feel full and energized
- How intermittent fasting can support your health through fertility struggles, PCOS, perimenopause, and menopause
- How balancing your hormones and stress levels can help you avoid weight gain and depression
Designed specifically for women of all ages and their unique needs, this go-to guide provides you with the steps to take control of your health—for good.
As someone who does IF on a daily basis, I found myself realizing that I had holes in my own knowledge and learned so much from this book. I have rheumatoid arthritis. It is horrible. I have gotten to the point where I have managed it thanks to IF. It’s not 100% under control but that seemed like a win. This book made me see that the way I was doing IF was excellent for just weight loss but not for the healing properties that I need.

I decided to try and implement some of the suggestions she made and I already feel a difference. This book will help you change the way you view food, how it helps us with healing and make you feel better all in all. Excellent for weight loss and my sleep is better.

It’s easy to follow, and has some amazing meal times set in the book.

Highly recommend this one for anyone who wants to try IF and needs to have it set out with simplicity or someone who knows IF and needs this for reference

5 stars!! Thank you to @greystonebooks and @netgalley for my gifted copy

Megan Ramos shares personal insight into her and her clients' experiences with fasting. I loved reading the success stories and how intermittent fasting improved so many lives. This is a great resource for anyone looking to gain personal insight into fasting.

I liked the step by step recommendations of how to start your journey. I am a beginner and appreciate the slow steps to making lifelong habits. But, also, as someone who is newer to intermittent fasting, I was a bit suprised at the recommendation of such long fasts (48 and 72 hours). I wondered about how healthy it is for a person to be without food for so long.

I will be starting my journey by following Megan Ramos' recommendations. I enjoyed the stories and will follow her path to fasting.

This is a pretty clear explanation of how intermittent fasting works, but it gives little guidance when it comes to dietary choices during the eating window. Part of me likes that, because I think these books often focus on a very low-carb diet that is unsustainable for most people, but another part of me believes folks who buy a book like this are looking for more specific guidance. I think the very long fasts that the author advocates for are possibly a bit dangerous, so I'm iffy about how safe this book is for most readers. Dieting almost always results in weight cycling, which is worse for your health than just staying fat. And yes, intermittent fasting IS a diet.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance reader's copy of this book.

This is very good book and guide for intermittent fasting. It is well written and easy to understand. She gives advice and tips to help the reader through the intermittent fasting process. I have followed Jason Fung and
tried intermittent fasting. I have lost about 12 pounds. I have gained the weight back. This book helps me to understand more about how intermittent fasting works. I would like to try intermittent fasting again.
Thank you to NetGalley and grey stone Books for the ARC of this book.
