Faulkner does it again. Satisfying twists and turns. Great job of storytelling through multiple points of view. The pacing is brisk and the writing strong. Devoured it in a single sitting.

Katherine Faulkner is rapidly becoming one of my favorite go-to authors! This is the second book I have read by Faulkner and it was even better than the first! Faulkner does a great job of keeping the reader guessing until the last page, while also leaving you wanting more! Faulkner does a great job developing her characters and weaving connections and plot twists throughout her books! I will be recommending to friends and am super grateful for the Ad a Cw readers copy!!! 5 stars for sure!

This is one you can't put down. The twists and turns of the plot combined with complicated and expertly crafted and believable characters makes The Other Mothers a winner. Told in alternating POVs from the reporter and the murdered woman, the story unravels and it is up to the reader to put the pieces together. The final chapters do seem a little rushed, but this is a great read.

Tash is new to the neighborhood. She brings with her Finn, her anxiety prone two year old son Finn and Tom, a doctor at the local hospital. Tash is a freelance journalist and hopes that Finn’s morning playgroup will give her the time to write an article, an article about the suspicious death of Sophie Blake, a young nanny. Without realizing that the local group of popular moms has connections to Sophie, she finds herself surprisingly quickly accepted into their group. Perhaps too quickly. As she researches Sophie’s death, she’s drawn deeply into the glamorous world of these women..and their husbands. While Sophie literally drowned, Tash is drowning in a world of expensive spa treatments, daily cappuccinos and croissants, brand name yoga pants and more. Tash is obsessed with her new friends and Sophie as she moves father away from Tom.

Katherine Faulkner’s new psychological thriller The Other Mothers, told in the voices of Tash and Sophie, is a tour-de-force. It combines a compulsively readable mystery with a look at the underside of motherhood, the fatigue, the endless days, the constant comparison to other children and the desire to fit in with the popular group, no matter what the personal cost. This mystery is a must read for book clubs everywhere.

Thank you to NetGalley, Gallery Books and Katherine Faulkner for this ARC.

Tash is a struggling journalist and new mom who learns of the mysterious death of a young nanny in her neighborhood. Eager to find playmates for her young son, she’s befriended by a close group of new mothers, and quickly becomes part of their inner circle. But as she starts to investigate the nanny’s death for a story, she discovers her new group of friends may know more than they’re letting on about the death. The Other Mothers is a spellbinding story filled with secrets, lies, and misdirections that will have your head spinning. The suspense drips from every page, and the dual timelines teases the details that have you feverishly flying through the book. Expertly told and plotted, this one will keep you up at night until you’ve finished! I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGally in exchange for an honest review.

The Other Mothers was a page turner, almost to the end. The author did an expert job at character building and side stories, but, sadly, the ending was way too contrived.

Mostly, I determine my ratings based on how much I hate to put the book down when life calls and how badly I want to get back to it. Given all that, this book would have been a five, but the ending was way too weak and brought my rating down.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review The Other Mothers.

This book was so hard to put down! The characters were all so interesting! At times I suspected everyone. The book kept me hooked until the very end. The shocks and twists kept coming, even at the very end.

This book certainly was a wild ride, but I'm sad to say I did not enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Greenwich Park. I was invested in the storyline but I found that the character development was lacking and that there were too many characters with too many affairs to keep track of. I often forgot who was who because they were not distinct people in my mind. Won't discount this author yet, but hoping her next book will be as good as her first! Thanks for the review copy, Netgalley.

I loved a lot about Katherine Faulkner’s newest release The Other Mothers. I loved that it kept me guessing up until the last chapter with a cast of characters that all felt suspicious yet grounded in reality.

The novel centers around Tash, a toddler mom and freelance journalist. As Tash begins to investigate the death of a local nanny, she befriends “the other mothers” in her son’s play group.

While the novel is a thriller, it also beautifully touches on the challenges of motherhood, marriage, and the desire to fit in. Additionally, Faulkner covers postpartum depression in this novel.

The book has dual POVs switching between Tash in the present and Sophie, the victim in the months leading up to her death. I loved the format but did occasionally wish for more from Sophie. There are some changes from Sophie towards the end that felt rushed and I was hoping would be explored more.

Overall, I think this is a wonderful and mature thriller!

The great @katherinefaulknerwrites is at it again folks!
This was another juicy mystifying cutthroat thriller I couldn’t put down. It reminded me of that old show that used to air on ABC way back in the day before streaming was a thing called Desperate Housewives and I devoured that show y’all! Don’t pretend you didn’t either! 😂
This book is packed with punches, extremely subtle hints and clues and possible multiple motives scattered throughout the entirety of the book BUT even still that ending left me shocked, appalled and breathless. Literally gasping for air here so send help. 😂
Want to thank @netgalley for allowing me to read this advanced copy of this amazing book to be able to share with you all so you may read it when it hits the shelves on 12.4.23. You won’t regret it. Perfect time to snuggle up with a truly great thriller and possibly have you questioning your upper class friends/mothers and what they’re trying to hide. 🤫 🧣 #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booknerds #bookaddicts #lovetoread #theothermothers #thriller #mystery

Hmmmm this was a good one. Lots of twists and turns with the two points of view from both the reporter trying to get to the bottom of a murder and the nanny that was murdered.

While I did enjoy the entire book, the final chapter fell for me a little flat which is why I didn’t give it 5 stars. There was a lot of complex layers and I just didn’t find it as good as her previous book “Greenwich park”.

When a nanny is found dead, Tash is intrigued and as a freelance journalist thinks this might be a great story to launch her career. She is also looking for a playgroup for her son. She is delighted when she is accepted by the other mothers into their circle. But when another woman is found dead, Tash begins to suspect that the ladies from the playgroup may be involved. As she receives threats she wonders what was the real reason she was accepted so quickly.

As a huge fan of Greenwich Park, I was so excited to get approved for this book! The Other Mothers is a thrilling second novel from Katharine Faulkner that begs to question - how well do we know our ‘friends,’ and how well do we ever know the truth?

Thank you to #GalleryBooks and #KatherineFaulkner for the ARC of #TheOtherMothers. Katherine Faulkner never disappoints when it comes to a nice, twisty mystery/thriller. The Other Mothers is no exception. Tash, a struggling journalist and young mother, finds herself drawn into the mystery of a local nanny’s death. Tash soon finds herself mingling among the more well-to-do mothers in the play group her son attends. As she tries to keep up pretenses with these more up-scale women, the mystery of the nanny deepens. This is a very enjoyable thriller with some incredible twists that will keep you guessing right up to the very end.

What I love about Faulkner's storytelling is that just when you think you have the answer, the murderer has been revealed, the story told, she tosses another twist your way. Her second domestic thriller was full of twists and turns and surprises. A very fun read.

Thank you to @DreamScape Media for the ARC. Wow, just Wow. This book had me guessing till the end. I loved how it was told in two POV. The countdown to Sophie murder was a cliffhanger after every chapter. I highly recommend this book if you want to read something you can not put down.

A pretty darn perfect neighborhood thriller, perfect for readers who love Lisa Jewell and Shari Lapena. Tash is a stay-at-home mother trying to resurrect her journalism career by writing a freelance article about a Sophie, a young woman found dead in nearby waters. As Tash begins to make mom-friends through her toddler son's new playgroup, she discovers a connection between the moms and Sophie, who was a nanny--but could this connection have something to do with Sophie's death?
