This was the first novel I read by K.L. Slater, and I am looking forward to more now! It was a slow burn, but also quite twisty as the plot picked up pace. A fun, quick read!

Neil has a new job as Estate Manager/Head Gardener at Seaspray House. A year ago he had an horrific accident that left him paralysed. His wife Lottie became his carer as it was thought that he would never walk again. But he has now made a full recovery and landed this new job. Lottie is pleased to be moving as their son Albie has been bullied at his school and believes that this will be a fresh start for them all. They are living in a small cottage next to Seaspray House which is also owned by Neil’s new employers Ted and Neeta. They seem too good to be true as they readily offer to help mind Albie as they were unable to have children. Neil is very grateful for all their help but Lottie is very suspicious about them. But when she witnesses some suspicious activity from her bedroom window and sees someone in their house when it is empty she becomes obsessed they they are hiding something and are not who they seem to be. Why did the last tenants of the cottage suddenly leave under a cloud? As the story unfolds Lottie is drawn into a game of deception and betrayal and worries for the safety of her family. This is another gripping read from K L Slater and a highly recommended read.

K L Slater's book takes me out of my reading slump. The Story of The Bedroom Window takes place in a small town near York. Lottie and her family moved to Nottingham and are grateful for the opportunity they got from their employers. Neil and Lottie's move helps them settle unresolved issues amongst them. Neil is employed as a landscape artist for the Seaspray Mansion.

Seaspray Mansion is a beautiful house with an intimidating presence and a mysterious persona. With subtle changes that are happening around her, she feels frustrated, especially since Neil doesn't notice and tell her she is being paranoid. Along with Lottie, the readers also embark on a journey to find out the truth about the mansion and its owner.

The book deals with a lot of sensitive topics including, mental health, addiction, and how social standards cloud our judgment. Given the story is set in a small village, it has a small pool of characters. Neil and Lottie narrate the story. And there is another timeline from 25 years ago. The book picks up the pace gradually.

The ending, however, is a complete surprise and will blow the reader's mind.

Overall, it is a 4 star read.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of the book.

This was such a clever book, and I enjoyed all the twists and turns throughout the story. The antagonists were truly awful (that’s a good thing) - it made the book hard to put down because I needed to see what would happen! Definitely recommend this one.

This is yet another brilliant book from K. L. Slater. This book was suspenseful, well paced, and compelling, and kept me up well past my bedtime. There were twists aplenty and an underlying sense of unease whenever the neighbours appeared. Of course every time I put my amateur detective skills to use, the author threw the plot in another direction proving I’m less Consulting Detective Sherlock Holmes and more Lieutenant Frank Drebin of Naked Gun fame.

Lottie and Neil were likeable, while Neeta and Ted, both nice enough, kept bringing up the hairs on the back of my neck. All the characters felt credible, and Neil’s wanting to have a fresh start after such awful work related injuries felt relatable.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I think it’s my favourite from this author to date. I can’t write a review like this without obviously recommending the book to any readers of suspenseful, psychological thrillers. I gave The Bedroom Window, by K. L. Slater, five stars, and can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Struggling a little with this review, I like KL Slater a lot and have a lot of respect for their writing, but I'm not sure this one was for me.

The focus on the paranoia of the main protagonist made me a little uncomfortable, it all seemed to come from the trauma of her mother leaving her when she was 13 and seemed to take very little responsibility for any of her 'resulting' actions.

I will say that Slater is still second to none on being able to create an ominous and foreboding tone through seemingly innocuous events.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4!!

Thanks so much to Netgalley.co.uk and the author K.L Slater for the opportunity to read this book in advance of its publication date in exchange for an honest review.

I loved all of K.L Slaters previous books so I was delighted to get approved this one and started it straight away.

I always really enjoy this authors books, I love her writing style and how gripping the plot always is. Her books are fast paced with short easy to read chapters and the story always pulls me in from the get go. This one was no different and I really enjoyed it.

A perfect holiday read.

Slater's defo one of my must read authors and I need to drop everything to get stuck into her books as soon as they're released. I am never left disappointed.

While I didnt think this latest one was her best, there is no denying Slater sure can write a thriller book well. I was hooked from the first page and just couldnt put it down. It was full of twists and turns and difficult to predict what was going to happen which is my favourite type of read.

I read this one in one sitting as I just couldnt put it down until I found out the ending.

What a great twist at the End too!!!!

K.L Slater has such a talent and I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next.

This is the first K L Slater book I’ve actually read in print as all the others to date have been listened to on audio.

I found this a bit of a slow burner to begin with but once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down!

The story runs along two timelines… present day and 18 years earlier and both are equally good stories that eventually tie in together.

I particularly liked Lottie, the main character who was beyond flawed but really likeable. I often found myself questioning whether she was a reliable narrator and I’m not sure whether that was the authors intension or just my over active imagination!

This psychological thriller was gripping, full of suspense and had twists I just didn’t see coming!!

I really enjoy K L Slater’s style of writing and have a few more on my list left to read, which I can’t wait! She is now a guarantee on my TBR pile with every new release.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I whixxed through this book, switching my feelings of villains and heroes on almost every page. As the author switched voices and time spans I kept reading, hoping to see more through the bedroom window. Have a great read and see if you can figure everything out. I'm still working on it.

I’ve read other books by KL Slater that I really enjoyed so this was an automatic request from me. This one was a bit slow for me, sad to say. I did like the creepy vibes it was sending and I wanted to know the mystery around the family.
Thank you to KL Slater, Bookouture, and Netgalley for this ARC.

Out of all of this authors books, of which I have read them all this was my least favourite. The beginning and middle just seemed drawn out, yes it got better in the last 25% but normally I get through them so quickly and I have to drag myself away. It seemed almost stilted in places and usually I read the whole book thinking "oh my god how does this author do it every time" yet this one felt like I was reading a book that was written by someone else.

Readable but not fab in my opinion

The Bedroom Window by KL Slater. Pub Date: May 19, 2023. Rating: 2 stars. I've enjoyed KL Slater books in the past, so I was surprised when I found myself bored and not interested in this story as I was reading. The premise is mysterious with a family moving away due to the father getting a job to help support. But where they move to has a lot of secrets and creepy vibes. What happened to the family that lived there before them and why are the neighbors/owners so mysterious? This story dragged on for me. Hopefully others enjoyed it more than I did. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review. #netgalley #thebedroomwindow

This was a great mystery as to what happened to Claire & Kay. You had to feel for Lottie what she went through over the years. Great characters and a good ending for this one. Recommend.
