Eighteen books in and I don't know how she does it. And by "it," I mean keep coming up with new cases that are meaty enough to keep my ADHD-battered interest. In addition, not only do the cases remain compelling, but also the stuff beyond the cases. Sometimes in detective stories/police procedurals, I find myself wanting to skim through the personal life drama, but that's not the case here. I'm always eager to see what's going in the lives of Kim and her crew. On that note, I'm very nervous about what's going to happen with the storyline left dangling in this book, but I still want to find out.

My thanks to Bookouture for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘Deadly Fate’ by Angela Marsons.

This is Book 18 in Marson’s popular D.I. Kim Stone series of police procedurals set in the West Midlands. I have read and enjoyed six of the previous books in this series and hope to eventually read them all. While there are some ongoing aspects linked to its characters, each book can easily be read as a standalone.

The case in ‘Deadly Fate’ involves the discovery of the body of Sandra Deakin in an overgrown graveyard. She died of multiple stab wounds. It turns out that Sandra was a medium, though one who only did private sittings.

The last people to see Sandra alive were a group of women who had a session with her the night before she was killed. Kim and her team soon learn that each of the women is lying about why they wanted Sandra’s help. So there are plenty of suspects to investigate.

However, when there is another murder they realise that there is more to the case than they first had thought. I won’t say more in order to avoid spoilers.

This was another complex, multifaceted case for Kim and her team; though I was especially interested in the focus on the subject of spirit mediums. Kim Stone has to confront her own scepticism about whether communication with the dead is even possible.

Overall, another top notch police procedural from Angela Marsons that is bound to please her many fans.

An intriguing case for Detective Kim Stone when the body of a woman is found murdered, stabbed eleven times, in a graveyard. They learned that she was a psychic and liked to touch the head stones as she walked her dog. Her team arrives and begins processing the scene and it seems that they will have plenty of suspects to investigate. There is the man who found the body and had been arrested and charged for stalking another woman, the priest who had banned the psychic from the local church, and a group of women who attended the psychic’s last event. When a psychic from a hotline center is murdered in the same manner, Kim fears that they have the beginning of a seral killer. She and her team must find the killer before more lives are lost. Her team is also investigating the natural death of a homeless man who gambled away his marriage and life. Can they find justice for this man and his family? Along with the step-by-step investigation, I always enjoy the interaction and comradery among Kim and her team. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Angela Marsons D.I. Kim Stone is hands down one of the best series I have ever been graced to read. I was so pleased when I was given the opportunity to read Deadly Fate! This, as per usual, was so well-written that I got automatically sucked into the drama and the events surrounding it. I don't want to give a lot away, but I need book 19 ASAP!

Thank you, Netgalley and Bookouture, for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Any of the books in the Kim Stone series are an automatic read for me, and I am very happy that I read this one too!

Kim becomes embroiled in a case where a psychic is murdered, a middle aged woman, and then a 19 year old man is murdered with the same MO. What could these two people possibly have in common? It is a mystery, indeed.

Are psychics real or are they charlatans? That is a good question, and one that Kim and her team need to answer, in one way or another. As always, Kim's team use their strong skills in various areas to figure out the who and why of the murders. I love all the supporting characters in these books, so much.

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Just as Kim Stone was settling down to worn on her beloved bike she gets a call. A body has been found in a churchyard. She has been savagely stabbed. This was an attack that was deeply personal, but why? The last people to see her alive were a group of women who attended met at a yoga class but had been at the home of one of the women for a get together. The victim was a psychic- was this fact central to her demise? As another victim turns up it looks like this may well be someone who wants to uncover their deception.

As always this was an engrossing read. However somehow something seemed missing- nothing that I could put my finger on & nothing that prevented me from giving it five stars. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book

Again with the fantastic writing. Seriously though, a book should not be this good. I started this book during a day of travelling and it was the easiest journey I ever had because I didnt notice any of it (shout out to my husband for steering me through the airport so I didnt have to look up from reading).

BUT!!!!!!! there is one little flaw in this book...the thing with Stacey. Personally I feel by now she would know better than to keep this kind of thing from anyone.

Deadly Fate is the 18th book in the unputdownable Di Kim Stone series. Yes you’ve read that correctly book 18, my word where does the time go. I remember reading the first book in the series ‘Silent Scream’ back in 2015 and now 8 years later we are onto book 18.
Deadly Fate is yet again another absolutely brilliant read by Marsons. We are almost immediately brought into the action when the body of Sandra Deakin is found on church grounds and then a few days later the body of a young man is found. Is there a connection between these two murders ? Not to be done with just trying to find the killer or killers the team are also looking into a cold case going back 10 years.
Wow! This book had me firmly gripped to the edge of my seat and I was buried into my kindle until the very last chapter. Angela Marsons is definitely in my opinion the Queen of Police Procedurals. I have read every single one of this series and they honestly just keep getting better and better. As I was reading this book I often felt I was out at a crime scene with Stone and Bryant or in the incident room back at the station with Penn and Stacy so well are the characters and place descriptions described. To sum up, Deadly Fate is an utterly gripping crime thriller that once you start reading you won’t want to put down. As for the ending .. all I can say is can we have book 19 like yesterday please !

Thank you to #Netgalley and #Bookouture for the copy of #DeadlyFate by #AngelaMarsons
Kim Stone is back with all the gang and it’s like greeting old friends. Kim, Bryant, Penn and Stacey all such different characters but work together so well.
You don’t need me to tell you the plot it’s in all the blurb. You just need to know this is one series that you mustn’t miss.
I always say I’m going to take it slow and make the book last, but I get caught up in the story and the books read before I can catch my breath.

You’ve done it again Angela !!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

D.I. Kim Stone is still going strong in this gripping and hard to put down addition to this fantastic series!

Should the psychics have seen their deaths coming?

In Deadly Fate, Kim is on the hunt for a killer who is targeting psychics. The murders are horrific and appear to be personal. Why would someone want to kill them? That is the question that Kim and her team are tasked with answering. As they begin their investigation, Stacy, one of the investigators, has caught the attention of a stalker.

The stakes are high in this book as the body count is rising and Stacy appears to be in danger. Marson has the team working non-stop in this pulse pounding and tense book. I could feel Kim's determination to solve the case. She puts all her energy into her cases and this book was no exception. This book shows the team’s investigation skills and small glimpses into their private lives. Being that this is the eighteenth book in the series, readers know the team and it is always a pleasure to learn more about their lives. This also means that when they are in danger or being stalked like Stacy, it gets emotions flowing and hearts beating.

Marson presents readers with suspects, and I did my own super sleuthing along with the team. I was shocked at the reveal and did not see it coming at all! I love it when that happens. Plus, the book ends with a nail-biting cliff hanger! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

As always this was a well written and well thought out book that was gripping and hard to put down! This is one of my favorite series and I highly recommend it.

This is book 18 in the Kim Stone series and I don't know how Angela does it but it's still just as good as book 1. I highly recommend reading in order because Kim and the team have grown so much and they're just such fantastic reads. I love Kim and her team. There are so many great characters and they work so well together.

The psychic element of this book was so interesting and I really liked that even though the tricks of the trade were shared nothing was proven either way. Kim's message at the end was equal parts beautiful and heart breaking.

The case had me hooked and I had no idea who it was. Stacey also has an issue going on on the side and it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger which isn't my favourite type of ending. I am now stressed for the next book because I love Stacey and I don't trust Angela to not stomp on my heart.

Deadly Fate is number 18 in this fantastic series. The main plot this time is that someone seems to be targeting psychics to be viciously attacked and murdered. Is it a rival, a disgruntled customer, or just your friendly neighbourhood stalker/psycho? We all know Kim Stone will sort it out. But what was interesting about this book was the questions asked about the psychic industry. I actually learned a fair bit about their methods but what I liked was despite being a complete sceptic myself the book left room for possibilities. In another plot Stacey's in trouble and certainly isn't in for an easy ride in the future. All I can say is Oi! Angie Marsons! Step away from my favourite sidekicks! I won't be able to take it if something happens to Stacey....or Bryant...or Penn. Nor Devon. OK not a sidekick I know but just NO!

But that's all in the future. For now I'm very happy with Angela Marsons latest novel. And I think you might be too.

Absolutely love this series - Kim is a badass! Unfortunately, this one showed a completely different Kim. She seemed unsure of herself, second guessing, soft ... not what I've come to love about this character. I get it - the last couple were super intense, and no one comes out of those experiences unscathed. In my opinion, Kim was a little too soft for someone with her personality and background.

With that being said - my only negative about this book - another seriously solid addition to the Kim Stone series. I can't wait for the next one!

Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.

Detective Kim Stone is in a race against time to catch a killer who has brutally murdered two local people who worked as psychics. Will she be able to stop any further bloodshed?

When I hear that there is a new Kim Stone book coming out I don't even read the blurb, I just know that I'll be reading it because I know that it will be a great book. I can't claim to be a psychic but I was definitely right about this one!

The prologue was brilliant, incredibly intense and haunting, which instantly drew me into the clever plot. The character development is out of this world, definitely the best I've seen in a series and I enjoyed how the events in Deadly Fate added to that.

I love how Angela Marsons can take a new topic, often one that I'd not given much thought to before, and really shine a light on it. It is clear that her research is thorough because everything from the characters to their jobs and lives comes across as so genuine.

Whether you're already a fan of Detective Kim Stone or not, this book is a fantastic read.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

WOW what a read I was hooked from the first page until the last, the subject is very interesting and must have taken so much research but it is very intriguing, loved the way the stories entwine, it still had me guessing right to the end, these characters are so interesting and likable and you get just enough "home life" that the main story is not secondary.

Leaving us on a cliff hanger is not fair lol ........ roll on book 19

At the risk of sounding like a broken records I did not want to put this book down once I started it!! As an enthusiast of the DI Stone books for a long time I already know that regardless of the plot the books will be well written with a dash of humour and a lot of Kim Stone stubbornness and sass!

In this 18th instalment of the series the book delves into the investigation of a well know and loved local psychic who is found brutally murdered. “She should have known” I hear you cry! Yes the irony is not lost on me!

Followed by 2 more murders within the psychic community the story twists and turns between suspects and theories! This book also discusses the validity of psychics and their powers in a very interesting way. Who are the fakes and what are their tricks?!

As it’s a long running series the characters are already well developed with back stories and it’s nice to also see a previous character pop back up in a story line!

The ending to this books leaves a proper cliffhanger though which I hope leads nicely into book 19!!

Another excellent 5 star book for Angela Marsons and it’s nothing less that she deserves!!!!

As a long term fan of the DI Kim Stone series, I was looking forward to this instalment. Found the premise of exploring the legitimacy of psychics. Whilst the team is still showcased, this book featured Stacey. It was interesting to see how the homeless man and stalker storylines would tie in overall. As expected was a great police procedural and an excellent page turner. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Thank you to the Author, Publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC.
