Another banger from Angela Marsons with all the twists and turns that makes for a fulfilling reading experience. Detective Kim Stone and her crew - Bryant, Stacey and Penn are investigating the brutal murders of psychics.

Marsons explores the concept of psychics and sceptics. Is there harm done if someone doesn't completely believe but it helps them with the questions they're seeking answers to? I liked the nuanced and balanced way the topic was tackled, which formed the basis as to why their victims met their gruesome deaths (not that they, in any way, deserved it).

As always I love the found family of the team, with special appearances by the every sunshiney Tink. I loved that Marsons allowed us to explore her insecurities and vulnerabilities in a lovely exchange with Kim. Kim is a bit out of sorts, while there were some great lines ('Sincerely, The Police') which made me cackle, I wonder if all of her trauma is slowly creeping up on her. As for Stacey - yikes for that cliffhanger and I have to say I am stunned she's not talking about it, especially given all she knows and the information she's been given access to.

I eagerly await #19.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Unfreakingbelievable as always.

Angie certainly knows what her readers want and she delivers each and every time. Another unbelievable read. Book 18, most series of books have got a little stale, a little samey by the time you get into double digits. This is book 18 and the stories and characters are nowhere near having had their day. There is still life, zest and umphh in each and every character and new story. Delivered each and every time with more grit, more power behind the stories. I really can not praise this series enough.
So much so, that after completing book 18, I have decided to treat myself and go right back to book 1 and start reading them again. So far it's just as good the 2nd time around.
I seem to say this with each and every book, so I wont disappoint and not say it - I don't know how the hell Angie does it, but i'm so glad she does. OUTSTANDING!

What do I like about these books?

Well, firstly the characters, we've certainly grown and aged with each other. I love the strength, determination and the wit of these characters. I certainly do feel as though I know them, as though opening each new book is like a telephone catch up with a friend you haven't seen for a while. I wan't to know what they are doing, what they have been up to at what point they are currently at in life. I feel i'm really invested in these characters.

Secondly the story lines, the crimes. Each time it feels fresh, It's exciting, i'm left wanting and needing to know what is going to happen. I then get to the end of the book and I want it to carry on, and on, and on... I think I could read these books forever and a day.

Kim Stone and her team are tasked with searching for a killer, when a woman's body is found in a graveyard. Quite a brutal killing that makes it look personal rather than a random killing. Now follows the who and the why and it's down to the team to piece together what could have happened.

I loved the psychic element that was weaved into this story line, it added something different. Something that really does get you thinking while reading. I don't think you particularly have to know about or like the psychic elements in this book but it certainly adds to the story.

Bravo, now ready for the next one. Angie really does like to add pressure to herself because we all know that the next book will be just as, if not more, epic.

Absolutely love these books how this author is able to keep producing storylines of this high calibre I do not know. The characters feel like family and the plot is always neatly sown up by the end. Highly recommend.

Many thanks for the advanced copy from NetGalley and the publish in exchange for an honest review.

I just love Kim! I know that she would be such a hard person to love in real life, but isn't that just the great thing about books, especially fiction. Everyone can further develop the characters to be something more personal. I am usually not a fan of books about psychics, but I absolutely loved this one! Marsons write about in an entertaining way, but at the same time explaining what it is about in an intriguing way.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love Kim's team, and I have gotten very found of the team members. Once again it was a unique, yet familiar read, that really captures the reader's mind, because it is impossible to focus on anything else than the book until the last full stop in the book. Abracadabra, she did it again! One of the best series ever written!

Another fantastic addition to this series, topical subject and superbly written. I cannot wait for the next one

The background on psychic reading and their tricks were interesting. The plot was good but one could see where the story is headed. The subplot with Stacey was stupid. Kim in this book was soft and subdued, not her usual self. 3.5 stars

Thank you for my copy of this book to read and review.

I have read all of the Kim Stone books in order so couldn’t wait to start this one.

I love the familiarity of the characters and I always know I’m going to enjoy these stories before I even start reading. I’m always hooked from the first chapter and this one was no exception.

It’s the first book I’ve read with psychic’s in the storyline before, and although this isn’t something that I have a particular interest in, it was definitely something different. As always, there’s interwoven stories, a list of suspects and twists throughout.

Although these books can be read as standalone, I would definitely recommend reading them in order as there is continuity with the characters and Kim’s background.

Always a 5 star read from me, and I’m already looking forward to book 19.

Stone and Bryant are called to the murder of a psychic. When they interview people at the last reading she did, it throws up several other threads of enquiry. Keats also tells Kim about a homeless man that has arrived on his table knowing that she will want to put a name to the man to give his family closure. When there are more murders, it seems that there is a tangled web full of lies and half truths.
Another cracking story.

would like to thank netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this brilliant book

a woman lies died in church grounds...she had been stabbed multiple times but it was the desecration of her face that caused the most upset

kim and her team are tasked with the investigation of this murder and its not long before they have a list of suspects to interview

but its not long before they are called to another murder scene with the same desecration on this victims face,

the only thing that the two murder victims have in common is that they are both psychics

and so begins the investigation but oh man that ending...now i cant wait for the next book in this brilliant series

OMG another epic Kim Stone novel from Angela Marsons! I LOVE this series, I read 16 in a row last year and everyone kept me guessing at the twists and turns. This is another excellent addition to this series - a great crime thriller novel. Highly recommend all the Kim Stone books and this is no exception!

And just like that I finished the 18th book in this series, how is that possible?! You may think that after this far into a series (that really must be read in order) things may feel a bit repetitive or stale but you would be wrong. Every time I start a new Kim Stone book I know I’ll be reading something fresh and that the author will put her own unique spin on a crime thriller and it’s such a fun experience to be guaranteed an amazing and captivating read. Also a for sure five star read is always nice too!

This time around the team delves into the world of psychics and that’s a concept I’ve always been fascinated by. One of those things I’m not quite sure I believe in or not but it sure was entertaining to read about. As always there is more than one case on Kim’s plate and the way the author bounces between these various plot points is just so clever. There’s never a dull moment and at times I was holding my breath as the tension was so high. I adore the characters in this series so much and there was an underlying thread running through this one pertaining to one of my beloved team members that raised my anxiety to an all time high. I know that’s annoyingly vague but once you read it you’ll know exactly what I mean. In regards to this particular plot point there was a cliffhanger type of ending which just made me totally desperate for the next book. All major plot points in the book are addressed perfectly though, this was just a little thread that I’m sure will be picked back up in book nineteen and I’ll be impatiently waiting its release.

Wow hard to believe we are at book 18 in this series, says a lot regarding the author's work and the quality of writing and story telling.

A woman's body is found in a graveyard, Sandra Deakin used to walk her dog daily through the gravesite but on this particular day someone was waiting for her and she was savagely stabbed 11 times with the last slash across her mouth. Kim's team are then thrown into action to find this killer but Sandra's hobby regarding her interest as a psychics will add an extra element to the investigation and it will not be long and they will have another victim. Again this team will see some horrendous acts and this will force them to dig very deep to solve this case.

Great to see all the team back together again but in this book Stacey is dealing with a stalker and this is causing her quite a large amount of grief. Twists, suspence and lots of action make this another wonderful book in this series. I cannot wait until the next instalment, always something to look forward to.

Thank you to Netgally and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions are my own.

DI Kim Stone is back in the latest instalment in Angela Marson’s thrilling series. This time around, in Deadly Fate, Kim Stone is investigating the murder of a psychic, Sandra Deakin, after her body is found in a church graveyard, where, a witness says, she used to visit all the time and speak to the graves. Now I would definitely say that I am a non-believer when it comes to psychics. I am interested in what they do, but I do not believe that they can contact the dead, but I can see how they can give some people hope and give people comfort. I was eager to know what motives there were for someone wanting to have Sandra dead, and if this was in any way linked to her supposed psychic abilities.

Angela Marsons clearly shows in her book how strongly people can feel towards psychics. There are those who will defend them to the earth, and there are those who will seek to smear their name and call them out as fakers. There are definitely plenty of characters in this book who share both of these views, which is what made this book really fascinating and this provides a number of suspects. You can see that Kim herself is a sceptic, but even she is open minded to the possibility that psychics might be able to contact the spirit world.

The investigation quickly becomes quite a complex one for Kim and her team, especially with the discovery of another body shortly after the discovery of Sandra’s. It raises fears that they might be dealing with a serial killer and that they may not be done with their crimes. There is also, as I mentioned earlier, a number of suspects in this book. This begins with the group of women who were the last to see Sandra before her death, when she performed a psychic reading for them, and you can see the strong feelings they have towards her. But could any of them have been capable of committing this crime? Angela Marsons does a brilliant job of raising the reader’s suspicions, and from one minute to the next, I was never sure who would best fit the bill as the person responsible for the crime. I loved how gripping this made this book and it was so cleverly plotted, especially as Angela Marsons brings the case to a dramatic conclusion.

Over the course of this series, we have got to know Kim really well and Angela Marsons has previously delved into the horrors of her past. There was a particularly haunting scene concerning this towards the end of the novel, which I really liked. You can feel the emotion pouring out of Kim in this moment, and I was gripped to the words on the page as I waited to see what was going to happen.

Deadly Fate is another brilliant book in the Kim Stone series, and I’m sure I’ve said this multiple times about this series, but it does keep getting better and better. I loved it.

After a rare weekend off, Kim is called out late on a Sunday night to a brutal murder scene.
Sandra Deakin was walking her dog in her local churchyard when she was stabbed multiple times and in a final barbaric act her mouth was slashed wide open.
Digging into Sandra’s life they discover she was working as a psychic. Her last booking before she died was with a group of women who were all looking for answers from her. Could this have been anything to do with Sandra’s death? Shortly after another body is found, killed in the same way. The victim worked in a call centre of a psychic hot line. Clearly someone is targeting those who make their living by convincing others the dead are talking to them.
I love Angela Marsons books, there is no messing about, straight into the action and they don’t let up until the last page. This one is no different. It grips you from the first page and does not let go. The characters are strong, the subject is very clearly well researched and makes for a brilliant story.

The brilliantly tenacious DI Kim Stone is back! With a cracking story. That sees her and her dedicated team take on a case involving the horrific murder of a so-called psychic.

And it's a case that immediately has the team asking the question, is there such a thing as psychic ability? And is that the reason why Sandra Deakin is dead?

But with a big potential pool of suspects. All of whom seem to be lying about something. How are the team ever going to find out?

Especially when another person working on a psychic hotline is killed.

Yet, that isn't the only problem facing Bryant, Stacey and Penn. As Kim has learnt of a homeless man, found dead with no ID as well as the kidnapping of a boy ten years ago. And she wants answers.

But these can't be connected to Psychic Sandy and her death, can they?

Not to mention, one member of the team is keeping a secret that might just turn deadly.

And with twists, shocks and surprises. Plus, a killer I did not see coming. This was another unputdownable read. And for anyone who hasn't yet read the series, what are you waiting for? Seriously! You are really missing out on one of the best female detectives I've ever read!!

I am a massive fan of this series, DI Kim Stone is my favourite fictional detective ever so I was thrilled to receive an arc of book 18. As always, Marsons dives right in and has you hooked from the get go. With 18 books, you'd wonder how does she keep the storylines interesting and different but Angela is a master of her craft so it's not surprising that she does!
I love the dynamic and bonds between the team, especially Kim and Keats, so I always enjoy being immersed in their world again and because these characters are so well developed, it makes becoming immersed in their all the more enjoyable. I feel like I'm back with my mates 🤣

Book 18 didn't disappoint, I really enjoyed it but I wouldn't list it as my favourite of the series mostly because of the psychic/medium plot didn't hold my interest so I zoned out a little there. However in typical Marsons fashion, there was a subplot running along in the background that was left open for the next instalment, which I'm now dying to see where that goes! If you're a fan of detective/crime series, I highly recommend checking out DI Kim Stone. This can be read as a stand alone, but I suggest going back to the start to get to know the characters and their quirks!

i love angela marsons books and kim stone they are so easy too read the team are easily likeable woth their own personalities the banter between kim and bryant and keats makes me smile.

I didn't want too put this book down the original murder is interesting add in the sode investigations as well it just keeps the reader interested though am a bit unhappy with Stacey in this one she should know better..

sid note: not knowing how i feel about psychics myself reading tgis gives you a different perspectove you get an idea how they work but also the comfort they give etc and it does make you think.

Another absolutely cracking book in this fantastic series, this is book 18 and the only series to keep my interest with this many books to date. I never get bored reading these books and tend to fly through them. As always a five star read.

Another fab Kim Stone book, which I inhaled in one sitting this afternoon - I don‘t know how Ms Marsons keeps doing it!

This one is about psychics and, like all the other books, I love how everything about the subject gets explained as we go along but without seeming obvious.

And this one has a cliffhanger at the end….or maybe you‘d call it a hangover to the next book. 🤔

Book 18 and it starts off with a bang, well not really a bang but the blade of a knife. Someone is killing psychics and Kim and the team try to figure it out before more die. How are the new murders linked with cases from the past?
And the end… can’t wait for the next book.!
