I really enjoyed this one!
I loved the small town coastal vibes and especially the vet element.

The characters were all amazing, I loved the moody boss, he was so relatable ngl

I do love a story set in the Scottish highlands! Similar to my last review, this is an easy read, one to curl up with and get through in one sitting. We follow Holly who leaves a city for a job as a vet in the Highlands. I liked the variety of characters, all very likeable and I was willing them on. It felt a bit like The Holiday film, not necessarily in plot but in the characters and style. A lovely holiday read.

This was an enjoyable read with likeable characters, a remote Scottish setting (which is a plus), fabulous friendships, a vet, and a host of animals, both great and small. In short it has all the ingredients of a romcom and doesn’t disappoint. I enjoyed spending time in the company of the characters and recommend it as a feel-good holiday romance.

Thank you Net Galley for this ARC. This story follows Holly, who moves to the Scottish Highlands to further her veterinary career. Here, she meets a host of characters and of course a potential love interest. I really enjoyed the setting and felt like it was really well integrated into the story, creating cozy vibes and a setting I felt immersed in. However, I felt the overall story fell short and I couldn’t fully connect with the characters and felt little investment in the outcome.

"Let's Just Be Friends" by Katy Turner is a sweet, lighthearted romance. Turner's storytelling is full of charm and relatable moments as it navigates the complexities of friendship and love. The characters are endearing, their banter and blossoming connection delightful. This book is a perfect read for those who enjoy heartwarming stories about the blurred lines between friends and something more.

Let's Just Be Friends by Katy Turner is a contemporary romance. Right person, wrong time? Or better off as friends? Holly Anderson needs to decide. Cheerful and confident veterinarian Holly doesn’t do flings. Falling in love is not in her five-year plan. Moving her entire life out of London to a fishing village in the Scottish Highlands is definitely not part of her plan. But then Holly’s life is turned upside down. She finds herself in tiny Eastercraig, where a run-down surgery, a gorgeous seaside home and two immediate new friends await. She has barely arrived when a tipsy Greg Dunbar lets himself into her cottage in the middle of the night. Greg is only back in Eastercraig to discuss the future of the family farm with his stubborn brother. He doesn’t know that Holly has moved in. Neither of them is looking for romance. They should just be friends, right?

Let's Just Be Friends is a romance with several layers. Going in I thought I would just be getting Holly and Greg's love story. Instead I get a story about Holly finding her place, making new friends, and figuring out life in a small Scottish town. The story visits several character's view points, and I thought the story line was great, and I loved getting to know the secondary characters and their stories so well. My only real complaint is that there was so much going on, so many stories to be told, that it sometimes felt like too much. I think the stories of Holly and her friends could easily have been divided into three books, giving readers more time to get to know each character much better. Since there was so much story I felt like any one character or part of the story got the depth and detail that they deserved. I felt like there are a lot or great moments and details to the story of Eastercraig and its residents that just did not make it to the page, and I will be keeping an eye on the author to see if more of it gets told.

Let's Just Be Friends is an engaging read with great characters.

I was very intrigued by the premise of this book. And thought it would get me into another new author. However, the story fell flat for me and was not gripping me as I expected it would. I tried my hardest to get into it but…

And because I wasn’t able to immerse myself in it, I wasn’t able to understand the characters. This was definitely a me problem and not a you problem,

This was a cute romance about 2 people that were not supposed to be together, especially since our heroine was only supposed to be in the Scottish small town for a year, and still planned on leaving. There were a lot of missed opportunities, which I understand in a romance, keeps a story moving along, but for this one, there were so many. Sometimes I don't want to work so hard when I'm reading a romance - in order to get to my HEA. This one did come, but the story didn't suck me in like others often do. I was able to put this one down. But it was still overall a decent read, perhaps a good beach read.

"Let's Just Be Friends" is a captivating and heart-warming tale that introduces us to Holly, a remarkable woman who, despite her intelligence and stunning beauty, finds herself in a remote corner of Scotland working as a veterinarian. Determined to focus on her career and not succumb to the enchanting allure of her surroundings or the people within, Holly's story is a journey of self-discovery and transformation.

The narrative unfolds as we witness Holly gradually breaking down her emotional barriers and embracing the peaceful and idyllic life of the Scottish village she now calls home. The author's skillful storytelling allows us to feel the serenity of the location and the genuine warmth of its inhabitants, which is instrumental in Holly's evolution.

Holly's interactions with the village's residents are beautifully portrayed, and over time, we see her opening up to new possibilities, especially in possible relationship with Greg. The slow-burning, tender romance that blossoms between them is both realistic and heartening. It's a testament to the author's ability to craft genuine, relatable characters and situations.

One of the central dilemmas in "Let's Just Be Friends" is Holly's struggle to love when her time in the village is limited and her past holds the scars of love trauma. The author handles this aspect of the story with sensitivity and depth, delving into Holly's fears and vulnerabilities. As a reader, you'll be rooting for Holly as she navigates her emotional journey and faces the question of whether she can truly open her heart.

While I initially thought i’d enjoy this book, I was sadly mistaken. Don’t get me wrong, the story was fun and the writing was great, but i found myself having trouble connecting with the characters and their point of views. I just feel the story deserved more depth in order to fully enjoy it. If you like friends to lovers and a small town setting, i’m positive you’ll enjoy this!

This is not a romantic comedy. It’s much more drama and the characters are not very likable. I do appreciate the arc in exchange of an honest review.

This was a fun, quick read set in the Scottish highlands. I loved that it wasn’t just about 2 characters, but that it included the love life of the 2 people working with Holly as well. At times I was wondering what was going on, but I’m not sure if that was because i was listening to the audiobook instead of reading the ebook.

All in all, i had a fun time listening to this one

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

I'd seen a few reviews of this book before reading which described it as predictable... and I must agree that it was quite predictable, but this was one of the few instances where the predictability didn't make the story any less enjoyable. I particularly loved the descriptions of the scenery in Eastercraig and I instantly found myself wishing I could visit myself. However as put as I loved this book, I think the ending was slightly rushed and could have maybe benefited from the inclusion of a couple more chapters to add to the depth that the rest of the story had.

This is a heartwarming romantic tale set in the Scottish Highlands. Holly and Greg, both reluctant to embrace romance, discover an unexpected connection. Turner's engaging writing and relatable characters make this a delightful read for anyone seeking a contemporary romance with a charming Scottish backdrop. Will they remain friends, or is there more in store? Find out in this captivating story

A MC that is a vet and the setting is in a small town in Scotland? Well, well, well don't twist my arm. The plot itself was decent, but I enjoyed the characters and the romance. It was definitely a perfect cozy read.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC

Oh my what a great book!
I love that with a romance you can predict the ending but not how that is achieved. I loved the build up of friends between Holly and Greg and combining it with the other relationship of Chloe and Angus.
I didn’t predict the other parts of the ending and finished the book with that warm glow and a smile on my face.
Absolutely loved it! Cannot wait for the next book by Katy.

Let's Just Be Friends written by Katy Turner was not my cup of tea. Usually I love dual timelines and POV's, I never had a bad experience with them, but with this book it was just so confusing, I felt like I couldn't follow along with the story with three different POV's and timelines. I feel like if it was less, I would have enjoyed this book more. I decided to put this book on hold for a little bit and come back to it, maybe it wouldn't be such a challenge to get through, but I was definitely wrong, it felt like such a challenge coming back to it. I applaud the character for taking a vacation when she needed one, but she was just too damn whiny for my liking. The only two things I liked about this book was the beautiful cover, and the Scottish countryside setting. Katy Turner definitely made me want to pack my bags and take a trip to the beautiful Scottish countryside. Looks can be deceiving, the cover says this book is "a feel good romance", but the characters just wanted to be friends, hint hint the title. Despite this book not being for me, don't let this review stop you, you might have better luck than I did, but I think i'm in the minority for this one.

THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND JOFFE BOOKS FOR AN ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!!!!!!

Holly Anderson is a cheerful and confident veterinarian, who knows what she wants, and where she sees herself in five years. Holly definitely doesn't do flings, and falling in love is NOT in her five year plan. I definitely held out hope for Holly, she mentioned how much she wanted to grow and be a better person, but all she did was whine and never bettered herself. Whiny women characters are just not a hit for me. Moving her entire life out of London was definitely not a part of Holly's five year plan, either. Holly decides to move to the tiny Scottish town of Eastercraig, to a run down, gorgeous seaside home. Holly has barely just arrived when tipsy Greg Dunbar just let's himself into Holly's cottage in the middle of the night. HELLO, DOESN'T HE KNOCK? DOESN'T HOLLY LOCK HER DOORS? Like, i'm sorry, but these characters didn't have any common sense whatsoever. Greg is only back in Eastercraig to discuss the future of the family farm with his stubborn brother. When Greg stumbles into Holly's cottage, drunk as a bat, he has no clue that Holly has moved in. But he still should have knocked on the door, right?

Greg and Holly both know neither of them wants romance, so they should just remain friends, right? Sometimes this book made absolutely no sense to me. Holly knew she wasn't looking for romance and she knows she doesn't do flings, so why was she doing it anyway? I have no clue, maybe i'm just over thinking too much of this book, but it just made zero sense to me. Like, if you knew you didn't want something, why wouldn't you stick to your gut instinct? Another thing I loved about this book was Holly's career as a veterinarian, I absolutely LOVE animals, so I thought that part was really sweet. Don't forget, these characters are adults, and they are acting like seventeen year old's. At times it felt like the love triangle trope was coming into play, which is not my thing in books. I don't want to persuade anyone not to read this book based on my review, but I definitely think i'm in the minority of not liking this book more than I had hoped. If you are an adult, and you are acting childish and whiny all the time, it's just not cute to me, it just annoyed me how the author portrayed the characters to act.
