This was an enjoyable book.
It was an easy comfort read and just what I needed at the time.
Holly finds herself enjoying the pace of the small seaside town and she fits in well and very quickly.
The relationships she builds and her growth throughout the book makes for good reading.

Thank-you to NetGalley, Joffe Books and Katy Turner for this ARC in exchange for a review

Sadly, this was not a book that I was able to get into. I didn't understand the characters and after while I lost interest.

Why does this girl have such a hatred for the scottish highlands... like instantly I was put off by that. However, I kept reading but there were too many characters introduced and the storyline didn't flow well. I thought we would see more of the main characters from the blurb but it seems we get more depth into the no main couples. I just couldn't stand Holly as a character and ended up dnfing.

Thank you up Author Katy Turner, Joffe Books and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions shared are my own.

I enjoyed the concept of the story and loved the imagery of the town and surrounding area. I'm not a runner, but these scenes were some of my favourite within the book and you could feel Holly's stresses disappear. I enjoyed the trio of Holly, Pablo and Chloe and found that their friendship and shared POV's made the book more enjoyable.

Where I struggled was in the romantic relationships between the different sets of characters. We didn't see an example of a healthy relationship; there was a lot of miscommunication and considering the book takes place across a year, an endless amount of missed opportunities and situations that seemed wasted. Because of this, I struggled to appreciate the final act drama and the ending as it seemed to all suddenly happen and resolve.

They say Love always happens when you’re not looking and that is exactly what happened to Dr. Holly Anderson Yvette who was sent to the Scottish highlands she was promised a nice job an ascot but when it was pulled out from under her 2000 herself being sent to an oceanfront town in the Scottish highlands her first day there she immediately likes her new coworkers and when she goes to see the little cottage she was given to live in she is amazed at how posh and nice it is. she even had fun at the local pub with her new coworkers Cloe and Paulo. The only thing she hadn’t expected was a roommate while relaxing in her Oceanview tub she hears a key go into the lock in before she knows it she’s confronted by Gregor Dunlap. After the dust settled and death threats are out the way he introduces his self and explains why he is there reluctantly Holly agrees to let him sleep over on the sofa but this will not be the last time he sleeps on her sofa and although she has no place in her life for romance she can’t help but feel attracted to the gorgeous Greg well Holly given to Love or stick to her plan and career agenda? This was such a good book I absolutely loved all the characters especially clothes and Powell and of course he’ll Holly and Greg. I don’t read a lot of romance books but love the ones with great plot and this is certainly one of those. What a great read if you love romance the you’ll love Let’s Just Be Friends by Katie Turner a definite five star romance. I received this book from NetGalley and Jafibooks but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

A huge thank you to Joffe Books for granting me access to this title via NetGalley. I have truly been enjoying reading my books by alternating between the text and the audio. It allows me to keep reading uninterrupted by...well, life.

Holly's life feels like it's all about to fall into place after working so hard to get where she is. However, when her placement is changed Holly struggles initially to adjust. Instead of her day to day being in London, Holly is being sent to a tiny fishing town in the Scottish Highland. Everything is so different. Fortunately, Holly's predecessor is letting her use his home in his absence and it's a beauty. Other than that, Holly is dealing with a curmungeonly boss who thinks she can do no right. With her future in the balance, Holly is determined to prove her boss wrong.

I liked the budding romance between Holly and Greg, but I really really loved her friendship with Paolo and Chloe. What a fun trio. This book is perfect for a rainy day to snuggle up on the couch and sip some tea.

Let's Just Be Friends by Katy Turner is about a Veterinarian, Holly, who moves to the Scottish Highlands for a Vet job for 1 year. She makes friends with Chloe and Paolo who also work at the Vet office. What is fun and unique for this story is that we get to see Holly's story with Greg but we also get to see Chloe with Angus and Paolo with Hamish. It's like a 3 for 1 book.

This book was misleading to a reader after taking in the summary and looking at the cover. You shouldn't judge a book by its cover but call it a flaw of mine. The storyline follows three main characters as they try to balance their work and love lives. We switch POV throughout the book between these three, which I typically love, but it was done so abruptly that keeping track of our POV was difficult. This could also be a formatting issue on my early copy. Sadly, the multiple storylines made it hard for me to connect to any of them. I did enjoy the Scottish countryside where the story took place. The author did not hold back on the fine details, and I now want to live there.

Thank you NetGalley and Katy Turner for the advance copy in return for an honest review.

Thanks netgalley for ARC
Debut novel that was marketed as a love story about a vet and a native of the remote Scotland village where she was temporarily working. In truth more a story of 3 coworkers and their love interests. I think book would have been more successful if ficus would have been in one couple which would have allowed for better character development. More stories of the townspeople and their pets could have also been added.

Sadly I didn’t enjoy this book like I was hoping I would. I hate to give a book a rating lower than three stars, but I struggled to come back to this book and sometimes felt it was a chore.

There wasn’t anything that kept me intrigued and at almost 30% in, the two main love interests had only interacted once. There was a lot of focus on the matchmaking of a supporting character instead of worthwhile mentions of our male lead.

The POVs were at times hard to keep track of because they were mixed within the same chapter and paragraph without division.

There were some enjoyable aspects such as the scenery descriptions, although at times I felt like there was more focus on that than the actual story.

Overall I really wanted to feel more chemistry between our romantic leads, and I was lacking a certain pull toward the book that I was hoping would keep me reeled in and intrigued.

What I liked- the small Scottish town. The author did a great job describing the small town of Eastercraig. I wanted to go there after reading this book.
What I didn't like- the multiple POV's. I found this to take away from the main romance. There wasn't enough time spent with the main characters to feel the chemistry.

This was really cute, really sweet and really enjoyable.
I found it to be slow in some parts, but overall I thought this was adorable.

Holly thinks she has a London vet job secured, but when that falls though, she has to move to a small village in Scotland for a year to work. There, she meets a cranky vet, two charming new friends, and Greg, who might make moving there worth it.

This book had all of the elements of a great romantic comedy! Holly and Greg swear to just be friends, but how else can that end? Chloe and Paolo and Holly's new friends who have their own romantic issues. And then you have her new boss, who is just miserable and cranky. And of course, the little village is just charming and has fun events for her to join in. The banter between all of the characters was entertaining and I was rooting for all of the couples.

My only complaint (and it's just a tiny one) is that the point of view kept changing from chapter to chapter. Normally that doesn't bother me, but with Chloe and Paolo not being main characters really, I didn't feel that I needed chapters from their POV.

Thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Somehow I have found myself reading authors from Europe (American southerner, here), and I am enjoying each one!

Holly finds herself NOT getting the job of her dreams, but rather being shipped north to Scotland for a yearlong veterinary placement in the Highlands. There she is met with whipping seas, timid secretaries, grumpy bosses and dashingly charming nurses. She and her new comrades find solace in their search, or in her case a defiant non-search, of available men in the quaint area.

This tale is full of friendship, self-discovery, stormy, rainy weather, paddle boarding, hairy coos, and those famous words: Let's just be friends. An LGBTQ inclusive novel, I found Katy's debut to be charming, plot-driven with appropriate character depth and development. There was plenty of comedic relief, only a little family drama, and nicely-paced omniscient POVs. I would recommend this for anyone who wants some depth to their romances, without the explicit spicy scenes. Well done, Ms. Turner!

Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for the digital ARC. This review is solely mine :)

Let’s Just Be Friends was a nice read, one to be experienced while it’s raining outside, curled up with a hot chocolate. I liked Holly’s story and really loved Wolfie!

I am always appreciative when I get a book from NetGalley for an honest review. I'm also a fan of a slow burn, but this one just takes too long. I read a lot of books, hundreds a year, and this one just didn't do it for me. Is it the worst I've read this year, no, but it is very, very far from the best. Sorry to say I probably won't look for more books from this author.

When veterinarian Holly's career plans are scuppered, she's force to accept a 12-month job in Eastercraig, a seaside village in the Scottish Highlands.

Resigned to making the most it, she befriends her colleagues, assistant Chloe and vet nurse Paolo.
After a chaotic childhood, Holly is determined to focus on creating a stable life for herself, and eschew relationships until she'd hit her career goals. That's tested when a stranger, Greg, lets himself into her rental home thinking it's vacant and Holly can't stop thinking about him afterwards.

Meanwhile shy Chloe has a long-standing crush on Greg's brusque brother Angus and Paolo, whose heart was broken by Holly's landlord Fabien, is struggling to meet men with a small population.

Let's Just Be Friends is a gentle, low drama, story of friendship and learning to adapt when your plans change on you. I do think that the synopsis needs a bit of a re-write as it's not just Holly's story, chapters switch between Chloe and Paolo.

I really liked the characters. I felt like I'd happily go to the pub with Holly, Chloe and Paolo. I like that Holly was supported and welcomed by both of them. However the characterisation of Holly's boss Hugh didn't fit the way his character arc was resolved at the end. He wasn't grumpy and missing his wife, his behaviour was downright abusive. He undermined her every step of the way and raged at everyone. How can it be explained that he was angry he'd found a talented vet?

This book was just an easy read and I loved descriptions of village and seaside life. However I did find that by the end, there were still a few loose ends that weren't quite resolved satisfactorily for me.

While I wouldn't want to live there in winter, I would happily pack my bags for a few months to live in Eastercraig as written by Katy Turner.

Thanks to Joffe Books and NetGalley for the ARC.
