Je n'ai pas pu terminer ma lecture car il s'est archivé avant que je puisse le lire en entier, mais j'avais entamé une bonne partie et j'aimais beaucoup. La vibe automne / halloween est vraiment super chouette. Les personnages sont attachantes, j'aime la représentation qu'on y trouve. Elles ne sont pas des personnages clichés, elles sont intéressantes avec un vrai arc narratif.
J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé les dessins et la composition de cette bande-dessinée, qui était d'abord un webtoon et ça se ressent car c'est visuellement très beau.

A really fun and enjoyable witchy read. Really enjoyed the graphic novel style which isn't usually my typical way of reading, but it was a nice changed. Highly recommend to read during the spooky season.

This was certainly interesting, and I'm definitely always here for a good girl gang and witchy story. But I felt like we didn't really connect with any of the characters or really understand any of their relationships with one another. Definitely an intriguing idea, but I needed a little more from this one.

I’m not an avid graphic novel reader but I did enjoy this one. I feel a little let down by the lack of LGBT relationships but it was nice to see some character representation. Overall a cute spooky read perfect for this time of year. 🎃

Coven was such a fun graphic novel! This reminded me of a fun, light version of the craft. I did figure out part of the twist at the very end but it didn't affect my enjoyment in any way. I would really love to read a sequel of this!

I've really been into witchy graphic novels lately, and was excited to be granted a review copy of Coven by Taoys Merakchi. It's a dark fantasy story about a group of witches who have to fight against a powerful enemy that threatens their world. The book has a lot of action, magic, romance, and twists that kept me hooked until the end.

The main characters are Lila, a young witch who has a mysterious past and a hidden power; Remy, a charming and loyal warlock who is Lila's best friend and love interest; and Zara, a fierce and cunning witch who leads the coven and has a secret agenda. They are all well-developed and have their own personalities, strengths, and flaws. I liked how they interacted with each other and how their relationships evolved throughout the story.

The plot is fast-paced and full of surprises. There are some scenes that are very intense and emotional, especially when the characters face danger or betrayal. The author does a great job of creating a vivid and immersive world, with rich descriptions of the settings, the magic system, and the history of the witches. The book also explores some themes like identity, loyalty, trust, and sacrifice.

However, I felt that the ending was too rushed and left some loose ends. I won't spoil anything, but I was expecting more closure and resolution for some of the characters and the main conflict. It seemed like the author had to wrap up everything in a hurry, without giving enough time to develop the final events and their consequences. I was hoping for a more satisfying and coherent conclusion, or at least a hint of a sequel.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Coven and I think it's a good addition to Taous Merakchi's bibliography. It's a thrilling and captivating story that will appeal to fans of dark fantasy and witchcraft. I would give it 3 stars out of 5, because I liked most of it but I was disappointed by the ending.

Overall, I thought Coven was pretty great and I hope there will be more installments in the future. I first chose to read Coven because of the artistry, which was done in the chef kiss style. Even the conclusion had a twist I did not anticipate and even answered some questions I had. It aided in the coven's upgrade to a 4 star rating. I suggest it to everyone who like the witchy 90s atmosphere, a friend group where each character has a unique personality, and those looking for a short read.

Perfect spooky gothic book for this time of the year. Great art and the illustrations were amazing. Would love to read more from the author again

First of all I want to thank netgalley for providing me with this graphic novel.

Eve, Diane, Lily, and Morgane are young rebels with a mission. The beloved elm tree in the four old friends' local park is slated for felling, and nobody seems to care. Appalled, the girls decide to try to save it using witchcraft. Against all odds, their ritual works! Soon after, strange phenomena awaken them to a terrible reality: a Demon of Chaos has somehow been invoked, and it is hell-bent on destroying them…

a group of friends accidentally summon a demon, however they only wanted to be able to protect an ancient tree in their city, the positive side is that they can be saved, the negative side is that now a demon wants to kill them.
and they must also cope with their love relationships and see if they can save their friendship.

I liked the story as well as the drawing, however I found that the story was very short, I went from a moment of tension to being saved. I expected something more, maybe with a couple of more chapters I could have developed the story and the relationships of the characters a little more

If you’re into witches and darkness, this might be the graphic novel for you. Coven is about four girls who try to save a tree a both public protests, and a bit of magic protection. These girls think that they have done a great job by saving this community park until they all get invited to a party where everything goes wrong, mostly in-fighting and girl nastiness. They learned that they have released a demon by doing their invocation incorrectly, and now they must put things back to rights. Overall, this book was a slow read. The story wasn’t bad, it was just long. The wrap up was semi-expected, and while not completely true to form for these types of books, completely believable. The artwork is nice and typical but overall, the genre has been done better. This wasn’t bad wasn’t the best, but there will be an audience for it.

Not putting this one on Goodreads because I don't want to hurt the people involved, but I really struggled to get through this one. I love horror comics, witch stories, and stories about women bonding, but this one just seemed clumsy and amateurish at every step. I found the art unattractive and inconsistent, the characters annoying, and the story pretty predictable, without a lot to recommend it. The protagonists are pretty shallow and awful to each other, and I wound up without any idea why they were friends, apart from some sort of vague hand-wavey thing about sisterhood. I never really got a sense that they liked each other or had anything in common, and I didn't really care about any of them.

Give me all the witchy vibes, please. I adored this one - girl power and friendship that can hopefully save a tree. This one surprised me with some unexpected twists and turns, but I really enjoyed it and would love more!

The illustrations were a bit underwhelming for me. As for the plot, it was a cute YA version of friendship and coming of age.

This was my first time reading a comic book formatted book but I surprisingly found it a lot easier than I initially thought I would but feel that this came down to the book! This was such an easy, fun read and perfect with it coming up to Autumn. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I have any complaints with the book, however nothing spectacular happened which is why I cannot give this 5 starts as much as I would have liked to.

I was pleasantly surprised with the cliffhanger ending and will definitely be picking up the second instalment when that is ready!

Very ineresting story and amazing illustration (which are the thing that attracted me more to this title).
It was a fun and enjoyable read!
Even though I´m not a grafic novel expert, I really enjoyed this novel and it was easy to follow.
Definitely raccomend!

Lily, Diane, Morgane and Eve are trying to save a tree from being cut down. Unsure if their efforts are going to works, they come up with the idea to try witchcraft to see if that would help save the tree. When things go well, they are ecstatic! Proud of themselves and what they’ve done. That’s until strange things start to happen and they wonder if maybe they messed up.

The art style of this was so lovely! It worked well with the story. It was so clean and precise. The colors were exceptional. Using it well to get certain aspects of the panel to pop.

I had so much fun with this. The relationship between the girls was wonderful. It was clear how much they cared about one another. Their friendship was wonderful and something I always love to see in stories.

The ending had a hug twist that came out of no where for me! I loved it - hated it too but that was because it ended in a way where this feels like a standalone. It’s a great standalone, but the witchy vibes, the friend group, it’s all something I personally want more from.

If you like quick reads, witchy vibes, and a strong friend group, pick this one up. It’s a fun ride.
