This was one of the strangest books I've ever read! I felt like the plot at first was really strong like there was a pretty good build up to the sequence of events but then everything clashed. I got lost in some places. I felt like there was just no plot halfway through the book which kind of disappointed me because the start up was pretty good. I just felt like so much was going on at the same time. It got chaotic at one point

From the title, the blurb, and the cute cartoony cover I was expecting a lot more from what I got from this book. I was expecting a rom-com, or maybe a plot? I loved the concept of the book though. It had potential is what I'm saying!

The time travel thing isn't for all authors. I kind of felt like the author herself couldn't figure out if the timelines were lapsing or not. This confused me a lot.. I also couldn't tell who the main characters were and who the main love interest is because everything was happening at the same time

I gave this book 3 stars because I did enjoy a few things:
1. I liked that for once, the male MMC was a bit large in size too. We don't see this representation of characters often, so I was impressed
2. We saw different ethnicities and different backgrounds so I enjoyed that too because I found it interesting to know that back time (in different eras) all kinds of people were scattered around the world
3. I loved the idea of a matchmaker that sends you back in time to find your person and the whole Kairos business was intriguing
4. The relationship between Ada and Cel and Ada and her brother was really cute!
5. Ada is funny and witty and she has her own charm
6. I liked the accuracy with the makeup and hairstyling and dressing up and all the events and situations in the different timelines. Sometimes I'd forget and then when they mention stuff, I'm like oh yeah this is what happened back then. I also found it impressive that having a degree in history or anything related to history is a requirement needed to work at Kairos

In conclusion, it's worth giving it a try. It's quite easy to get through! The concept of the book was compelling to me!

Lots of formatting issues with the book it was almost unreadable! I was definitely the wrong audience for this book. I found the MC annoying. The plot was boring to me.

"The Once and Future Fling delves into the intriguing concept of time travel as a means to discover one's ideal romantic partner. With the promising premise of a delightful romantic comedy, it had the potential to be a hit, but regrettably, it fell short of expectations.

Throughout the narrative, I found myself grappling with uncertainty regarding the primary love interest among the two male lead characters. The lack of clarity in this aspect left me somewhat disoriented. Moreover, the consequences of tampering with the past were underexplored, making it challenging to relate to the consequences of meddling with time.

The characters in the story felt somewhat one-dimensional, making it difficult for me to form a meaningful connection with them. The relationships, particularly between Ada and the two male protagonists, lacked depth and authenticity. Additionally, significant chunks of time elapsed in the plot without notable developments, leaving me puzzled.

One saving grace of the book was the endearing relationship between Ada and her brother, Teddy. Teddy's character injected a touch of humor into the narrative and provided a welcome distraction from the convoluted storyline.

Overall, while "The Once and Future Fling" had an intriguing premise, it struggled to deliver a cohesive and engaging romantic comedy, leaving much to be desired in terms of character development and narrative clarity."

I selected this book because the cover was cute and went in blind. Had no idea this was a book about time travel and romance, mixed with mystery and part sci fi.

After having broken up with her ex Sam, Ada was branded as a home wrecker by the media, as Sam was a politician and it was highly publicized. Little did they know that Sam's marriage was truly over, though that was never corrected and Ada's name got dragged through the mud. Added to this Ada is being stalked. She thought if men in her time weren't decent enough, maybe it was time to try men from different time periods, since time travel was possible. Ada takes on the services of a company Karios and her first encounter doesn't go down so well in Regency London. Her next trip to 1922 has her caught up with a gangster named Henry and her ex Sam has travelled back to this time to win her back. Sam engages in some dodgy dealings in this time period which sets off a whirlwind of events that follow Ada.

The idea that time travel was used as a way to date is a very unique concept for sure! If you can’t find someone in your own time, just travel to another period where suitable bachelors await.

I did find Ada's decisions frustrating at times. She was willing to go back to Sam who didn't really seem like he had the best intentions for her, and there was a point where she was willing to settle, just to not be alone. I thought her interactions with Henry weren't something you'd fall in love over. Her life was at risk at some points and they really were in two different worlds. If she didn't read online the time period in which Henry would die, would she have gone back? She really did have a saviour complex and I'm not fully convinced by their love story.

I enjoyed the murder mystery element of the story. Her best friend Cel and brother Teddy were enjoyable characters. Ms Little was peculiar and I was wondering what her angle was during the book. I imagine if time travel was discovered that the types of regulatory bodies and laws mentioned in this book would be the reality to preserve history. As some of the events are occurring you can definitely piece together what's happening to Ada.

I'm a bit 50/50 on this one. Parts of it I liked reading, other parts I was asking myself why I was still reading.

I'll be honest; I DNFd this one fairly early in. The cover and blurb are clearly selling romance, and the content of the book don't line up with that expectation. Even then, I enjoy mysteries and adventures, so the marketing mismatch wasn't my biggest problem. I had two main issues. The first is the amount the lead character seems to body shame herself. I respect that not every curvy person is comfortable in their own body and there is realism in that. I also know myself well enough that it was going to make me upset for the whole book, just so many snide comments about her own eating and body. Second, one of the two main love interests, right at the beginning admits to basically stalking the lead. That's when I had to get out. I refuse love interests who engage in super creeper behavior. If a guy bribes someone to get your location, stakes out the place for days, and then tries to talk you into leaving your entire life behind, it's terrifying, not sweet.

Really enjoyed this. A fun and original story. The writing isn’t without problems and there are some colloquial issues but it worked ok for me. This book would be fun adapted into tv.

Fans of Sci-fi, historical romance, and fantasy you will love this book😉.

Our heroine Ada is a plus size woman has some insecurities and self-trust issues and has always felt less and like she doesn't belong in the present time among these people and she is seeking marriage and love.
Kairos Dating Services had the answer for her , they are a matchmaking service that allow time travel through time to find the perfect match for you.
This service was perfect for Ada as she is looking for her Mr. Darcy but things won't be easy especially when she will get stuck in a love triangle and other difficulties.

A very different read from what I used to. It was funny part romance and part adventure but of course the read.
So make sure to check it out once its out.

2.5 stars. This book has such a great concept! Time travel has been invented, and a matchmaking agency called Kairos allows clients to time travel in search of love. Unfortunately, the plot and characters were all over the place and needed a much tighter edit. I wanted a little grounding in the time travel process - I understand that it is hard to write a time travel novel (I could never do it!), but it never works for me if the mechanics of it are vague and make no sense. The love story - a woman torn between (in my opinion) two poor choices - needed a lot more depth to get me to buy in. This is a busy, messy novel that I might have loved to read 5 or 6 drafts down the road. Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group/W by Wattpad Books for a digital review copy.

I loved the premise of The Once and Future Fling so much! A cute romcom with a time traveling twist! Ada and Henry were so sweet, and I loved every moment of their budding romance. I only wish there had been even more of them together. I also would have liked to have seen more of Henry in general. However, overall this one was so fun, and I do plan on reading more from Leigh Heasley in the future.

I was super drawn into the concept of this story. And I think for the most part, it did a great job and was a very captivating read. My one main drawback of the story is that it was pretty ambitious. The depth of the plot lines and the characters felt a mile long and an inch deep. Overall, I really enjoyed the story!

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

This book had an insanely interesting and original premise. Overall, this book was fine. It definitely wasn't my favorite but it kept me intrigued and wondering what was going to happen next.

One thing I couldn't stand though was all the comments on the main characters weight. I rolled my eyes a few times when I was reading it.

This was the time travel romance I didn’t know I needed! It was a really cute idea and I thought it was well executed. Sometimes the chemistry was not as strong as I hoped, but I think that had more to do with my expectations. This is a strong book in general and I think will appeal to a wide audience. There are quite a few laugh out loud moments coupled with some good angst.

This sweet, non-traditional romance with sci-fi elements follows Ada on her journey through past and present to find the perfect man and escape from the crippling reality of her own failed relationships.

Time travel is now a thing of the present and what has humanity decided to use it for? Historical matchmaking! When Ada is abandoned by the man with whom she thought she would spend the rest of her life, she decides to take a chance on one of these time-travel matchmaking services, Kairos.

After a dreadful first time-traveling date that ends in disaster, Ada decides to give Kairos another chance and meets Henry, a depressed, struggling musician who she finds handsome and endearing despite their somewhat lackluster date. Unfortunately, before she can make it back to the present after her lunch with Henry, Ada is thrust back into the arms of her old flame, Sam, who has decided to do a bit of illegal time hopping himself. A wild, time-traveling, gangster-riddled adventure ensues where Ada is torn between a future with Sam or Henry and she is forced to make some gut wrenching and bittersweet choices.

This was a fun and thought provoking read. It was interesting to consider the less often discussed ramifications of time travel, beyond your standard grandfather paradox or time loop. However, there was minimal romance and much more of a mysterious Sci-Fi element than I bargained for. The ending was a bit inconclusive, which may appeal to some, but I wanted a more defined future for Ada. All in all, an enjoyable read if you can handle science fiction but don’t expect too much spice. 🌟🌟🌟💫3.5/5

Time Travel is legal, and they do across-the-years matchmaking !!
Ada has had a hard time of it lately, what with a scandal that seemed to drop all the blame on her, and all the break-ins and creepy messages she has been getting lately. She'd like to find a nice Regency gentleman and emigrate to a different time. She has a nasty encounter there, and goes back to the Kairos Agency to try out another time period.
in the 20's, she meets up with Henry Levison and, after yet another horrid encounter, thinks she might just give it all up. She meets up surprisingly, with her first ( and disastrous) love, and thinks this might just be fated. He, however, is on the run through time, and wants her to come with him.
Adventures, accidents, shootings, excitement, and some smooches ensue. Ada jumps back and forth, with the help of her brother and work bestie, and finds she has to decide which man she wants to be with.

Lots of potential for a series here, I hope the author continues in this world. I would love to see Ada's brother Teddy get a match !

Great pacing in the book, lots of fun to read.
