Ok. Cats. Everyone loves cats, right?
Parenthood. Young kids. Struggles. Many know those everyone knows way too well.
Combine those into comics where there are cats, not humans. It becomes cute AND relatable. And also funny.
The sense of humor in those comics, the raw reality through humor, and the adorable art make this an awesome read.
I see this book as the perfect gift for young parents, or for those raising a family of any kind. There are ups, there are downs, there are the good, the bad, the ugly, and then everything in between, including love and fun. All with a healthy dose of humor.

I have definitely seen a few of these strips on the Internet and thought they were fun but reading them one after the other for a longer amount of time was a bit grating to me. I'm definitely not the target audience but that shouldn't really mean much good is still good no matter what you are.

Charming, whimsical, and incredibly honest, Parenting is Weird does a great job showing the ups and downs of parenting, in all its silliness. It's forthright without trying to scare you, meaningful without being too self-important, and funny without downplaying the real emotions and challenges that come from becoming a parent. That's impressive to manage in four panel comics where all the characters are animals! It was a clever and thoroughly enjoyable read!

This was a fun set of comics. I don't have children but have worked with them and spent close time with family members. I love the art and I love that this also has stickers and a "flip page" for animation. The comics themself were funny and worth the book itself. This would be a great gift for my friends and family with kids.

This book was CUTE. Oh my god.

Chesca's stories about family and parenting are so real and so funny. They show the struggles and the joys of parenting in the modern world. From interactions with other parents, to dealing with your kids' school, to simply how to spend time alone or with your spouse while parenting, there's a bit of everything in here.

It's hard to say what age this book is for. I think kids will laugh along with the antics of the kids in the book, the gorgeous colours, and the art style, they'll love the stickers, and the flip-page chapter openers. Meanwhile, I think parents will love the stories, they'll love the relatability.

Chesca's comics are wonderful, and I can't recommend them highly enough for readers of any age. Though there is some cursing in one of the comics.

I'll definitely be recommending this to all of the parents I know, and buying copies for some of them as well!

Thank you NetGalley for this digital copy.
Adorable and funny. This is a great read even for non-parental units. I did read most of these already on their site however the extra pictures are cute and the insights on parenting between chapters are nice additions. I believe the hard copy even comes with stickers!

I’ve really enjoyed reading these comics online as they came across my Facebook page. To see them all collated was awesome! If you can snag a physical copy of the book, I’d highly recommend it. The flipable art pages don’t work well on eBooks!

I've really enjoyed Litterbox Comics, and I was truly delighted to get an eARC of Parenting is Weird through NetGalley. There's some really great strips shown throughout this book, including some of the ones I loved best (although it was missing some of my favourites, naturally) and some that I hadn't had the chance to see before. It isn't a perfect comic, but it's a ton of fun. It has a great sense of humour about real things that parents go through. It's definitely worth the read, especially for folks who are already fans of the webcomic.

First of all I want to thank netgalley for providing me with this graphic novel.

parenting is weird, tells us in the form of short stories the lives of two parents with their young children, how they manage to adapt to parenthood, all this in comic format, where he tells different experiences, in a funny way, the beauty is that the book in The physical format is interactive, something that cannot be fully enjoyed in digital, for me, even though I am not a mother, it was fun to read the experiences of these two parents and their children, so I feel that it is something that everyone can easily read, in different stages of his life.

I give it 4 stars out of 5.

Cute cartoons about parenting small children, with cute cats galore. Hause fictionalizes her experiences with two young sons into sweet and chaotic cartoons featuring a loving family of cats. Guaranteed to make parents chuckle and friends empathize, this is a nice gift for the parent of toddlers in your life.

I’ve been following along Litterbox Comics for a while now, so when this book was announced, naturally I was very excited.
I didn’t expect all the text explanations/stories in between the comics, but they only made the book more special, giving background information and structure.
The comics themselves were funny and cute and probably very relatable to parents. I really enjoyed them and found many I didn’t know beforehand.
All in all a fun read.

In my opinion, this comic is really enjoyable to read and funny. The comic is about what is like being a parent and raising children. I first heard about the comic from Instagram, but didn't bother to read the comic until I gave the comic a chance. Parenting is Weird is a slice of life humor comic that centered on a family of cats. You have Fran, the mother, Joel the father, and their two sons Vincent, the oldest and Cooper the youngest child. One thing that I really like about this comic and why people should read is that this comic shows that parenting isn't as easy as it seems. Parenting is hard work and I think anybody with kids can relate to this comic.

I really like the character designs and art style in the comic as the art style is unique. I also adore the character expressions in the comic. Out of all the characters, Fran is my favorite character because she often says the funniest lines in the comic. And she really cares for her sons. I like how close the family is to each other. There are other characters in the comic, like the teacher and the family's neighbor, but I do the cat family the most.

Overall, I do really enjoy this comic. The characters are very enjoyable. The art style, character designs, and expressions are great. I think this is a comic that most parents can relate to them. I highly recommend reading this comic.

I may not have kids but that did not stop me from loving this book. “Parenting Is Weird” is a fun collection of comics and some notes from Chesca about her life and parenting. As someone who is thinking of having kids in the near future this book made me really excited instead of nervous. When I think parenthood I get so anxious because I am still a kid at heart how could I parent a kid? But Chesca shows through her wonderful art that no one knows what they are doing. Surviving the day is enough sometimes. It’s also very helpful to laugh at the situations that life brings you, such as your child’s favorite cuddly being the Creeper from Minecraft and we all know what that looks like. Chesca made a book that shows parents aren’t alone and no one has to be perfect and that kids are insane. Parenting Is Weird and everyone is just doing there best and that’s great. Truly a great a read, so adorable, I can not wait to buy a copy of this book (and no it’s not just because I want the stickers that are included)

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I was on Instagram a couple years ago (before my ADHD deemed it necessary to get rid of social media altogether), I found these little comics and thought they were great. Unless it's published in a collected volume I suck at keeping up with web comics, so I slammed the request button when I saw this pop up on NetGalley.

Being a parent is truly strange, and Chesca Hause illustrates that really well here (pun intended). We have some patrons with littles, and some of the things they say just send us into fits of giggles. One little guy was asking his mom question after question. He gets right up next to her and says, "Mama? Where are you?" With a confused glance at me and my colleague, she says, "I'm right here, bud."

One of the things that make this collection really memorable is the unique spin with the different animals, not to mention the cat traits incorporated in how parenting goes. (I.g. the 3AM zoomies) It's easy for modern comics to get a little cheesy or for the jokes to fall completely flat. But that doesn't happen here, and I even found myself laughing out loud with a few of the comics.

All that to say, this is a great little collection, for sure.

An amusing graphic novel about parenting but it is portrayed through a family of cats. It is humorous with good artwork and amusing stories that everyone can relate too.

Firstly, a big thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for allowing an advanced look at this!

I do enjoy Litterbox Comics and love this collection! Each section has a little message from the creator and has the comics grouped with a theme. I think this is an excellent addition for fans and the perfect gift for parents (even better for nervous new parents). You'll laugh and feel better seeing each challenge and joke page after page. It's a perfect mix of every parent's challenges with some bonus jokes from the animal world. The joke about hyenas giving birth was extra funny for someone that previously fell down that rabbit hole. Seriously, only Google that if you are not afraid of having an "OH MY GODS" moment.

It's an honest take, and that makes you love it even more.

The only thing I will say is that quite some fun is taken away in the electronic viewing of this. Obviously, it's meant to be in paperback, especially with the little moments of showing how to flip the pages to have little flip book animation jokes and the last pages of little stickers. If this were to be offered as an electronic version, I would hope some edits would be made to make it obvious it's for readers.
