I loved this book, full of great true facts, and witty 'corrections' (the latin for honey badger being "stinkbombus ferocious" being a favourite)
This would make a lovely gift for a middle-grade kid, or to read with a child
I received an advance copy for free from NetGalley, on the expectation that I would provide an honest review.
What an original concept! This is a book about animals with a bad reputation to help the public know them better. It's a fun format too: scribbled notes are peppered on each page offering fun facts on each animal (for example, the Komodo dragon is a "bad parent", but you'll have to read the book to find out why!!). I thought the made-up scientific name for the orca was also spot-on. The humor is a great asset throughout this book, and that will definitely appeal to the adult readers.
Packed with a ton of factual data, it's an interesting read that strays from the usual children's books about wildlife.
Absolutely adorable, hilarious and educational. Would 100% buy this for my kids. Witty and enjoyable by parents and kids alike.
What a fascinating book that brings together a list of marvelous animals and the way they must be fearsome in order to survive! It’s full of personality and puns and interactive moments where the reader will be awed by what they just have learned. Perfect for young curious minds eager to know more about the various animals on Earth.
Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for letting me review this book. This book had some interesting facts and I even learned a few things along the way. This is a fun read if you have a kid interested in animals.
Loved this book! A fantastic read for any child who loves learning about animals. Great humor but also lots of excellent information. A fun read for parents and children together. Can't wait to purchase a copy for my nephew.

Super fun with fantastic illustrations. Animals are the best 🐍 🐺 🦅 Fabulous!
This book is great for both kids and adults! The illustrations are fantastic and the sense of humor kept me entertained on every page! Also where can I start a petition to change the latin names of some these animals?
What a fascinating read! Filled creatures both familiar and new, there is a plethora of information to digest and share with others. The sections of text are short and the cartoon-style illustrations, perfect for younger readers, add to the charm of the book. This is definitely one I'll be purchasing for our school library as it will fascinate, delight and disgust our animal-obsessed children in equal measures.
This book was a big success with my 7 year old, the illustrations are lovely and the animals are imbued with personality, which lends itself to interactive reading - ‘what do you think this Siberian tiger had for dinner?’ etc. We’ll be gifting this one widely!
This book has just the right amount of humor and factual information. I also really enjoyed the cute cartoon drawings of the animals. It's a fun way to learn about the natural world and people of all ages will be able to enjoy this book.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.
This book will make a great addition to every child's bookshelf. My son and I loved reading about all the different animals!
Truly a wonderful addition to any curious child library! I read with my daughter and she loved it! Full of useful information for both inquisitive children and or adults. Tons of infortsion completely unknown before picking this book up. Also right on time for a project my daughter is doing on wildlife!
Philip Bunting back at it again with another brilliant & fun educational picture book. An absolute dream for the child, but even better for the adult reading it with said child.
I am 26 years of age & I have so much joy reading Philips books.
Smart, witty & very ‘punny’ !
The Worlds Most Atrocious Animals is definitely a great title for little ones (& 26year olds like myself) to learn about the known ‘scary animals’ in a more fun, lighthearted & humorous way. I have honestly just learnt so many things about these different animals & it’s purely from the quickness of this book!
I cannot recommend Philip Buntings books enough, but especially this!
Thanks NetGalley for providing this to me - a big Philip Bunting Fan!
Are these animals scary or atrocious? Are you SURE? Find out in this fun, educational title that helps to explore animals that are typically deemed scary by children. This is perfect for kids of all ages and is amazing for any child's library. The whole household LOVED it.
Loved this. Will be buying for my.kids. interesting, informative and funny! Absolutely wonderful read, and lovely illustrations too.
Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books, Happy Yak, and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy.
The World's Most Atrocious Animals is fun of facts and funnies! The illustrations are wonderful and engaging. There is plenty to love for all children. Science nerds will love the scientific name for each animal and all the descriptions. Less science minded kids will love the jokes and puns. All three of my kids, aged 4-11, loved it!
The World's Most Atrocious Animals by Philip Bunting is such a great children's book! Our whole family enjoyed it from cover to cover. The puns, jokes, sassy descriptions, and hilarious renaming of the scientific names for each animal mad the book fun and interesting. The facts were all well researched and very cool to read about. I loved the bright illustrations and how each animal seemed to come to life on the page! If you're looking for a unique children's book this is the one to get!
Beautiful illustrations! Wonderful facts on so many animals, creepy crawlers, and even ocean dwellers. Full of jokes and humor. Would highly recommend!
The artwork in this is absolutely beautiful. A fun and stunning little read with lots of information and little jokes through out. Perfect for kids learning about the animal kingdom or even just to flick through and read the annotations whilst enjoying the drawings. Big fan of the jellyfish! The layout is great!
