Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Bantam and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC! When I requested this galley I was not aware that it was the second book in a series. I did not feel that I absolutely had to read the first book as the story referenced the first book, but did not spoil anything from the previous plot. I will say that as soon as I finished this, I requested the first book from my local library. Ava Glass created the perfect female spy story. I have always been a huge fan of a well-written spy story and this one shot right up to the top of my list. Emma is very well characterized and I loved reading everything through her POV as she navigated her emotions on a very intriguing yacht and beyond. The setting was pure perfection and the characters were vividly drawn, I felt like I was right along Emma the whole way. I would most definitely suggest this to anyone looking for a new spy series, especially a female spy! Loved it!

This is the second Emma Makepeace novel about a young spy. I found this one a little too predictable to enjoy, but it is fast-paced!

Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy, but all thoughts are my own.

The Traitor is the 2nd book in the Emma Makepeace series, and it’s another winner! When a M16 agent is found murdered in his apartment, Emma goes undercover as a steward on the yacht of a Russian oligarch, believed to be involved in the sale of chemical weapons, and a suspect in the agent’s murder. Things go sideways in a hurry, as Emma’s identity is revealed by a double agent in the British government, putting her life at risk. As in the first book, there is nonstop action here, with Emma facing one threat after another. Fairly straightforward plot, some interesting characters and a breezy writing style make this an enjoyable read. Looking forward to more in the series. I received a ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I requested to read and review this book for free from Bantam an Imprint of Random House Publishing Company. This is the second book I have read by Ava Glass and it was fantastic. This book can be read anywhere but by a mature reader! This book has mystery, drama, suspense and a hint of romance. When working in intelligence having a social is super hard. Trying to figure out who can be trusted and who can't is very hard. What happens when you aren't sure who to trust? Do we ever truly know a person? Can money and power by happiness? Emma is back in another mission to find out the truth about these things!

I bought into this plot line a bit more than the first book. While I didn't write a review for the first book, I did give it 3 stars based on the writing despite at some points not quite buying into it all.

One of the biggest mysteries in this story seemed rather obvious to me, and I would have thought it would have been obvious to our protagonist, but it was still handled well, and suspense was nicely built up.

Looking forward to the next one in the series.

I didn't know that this was the second book in the Emma Makepeace series until I started reading and realized I knew this character and really liked her. I'm glad to know this is a series and I hope there are many more. They are full of intrigue and action, making for a very quick read.

I had the privilege of reading Ava Glass first book, Alias Emma, so I was thrilled I have been given the opportunity to read the ARC of The Traitor.
Ava Glass does not disappoint! This second book with Emma Makepeace as the main character is just as thrilling as her first. Lots of twists and turns; intrigue, mystery, and maybe a hint (just a hint) at romance. My kind of book.
Thank you again for the opportunity to read this ARC #TheTraitor #NetGalley.

The Traitor by Ava Glass is the second book in the Emma Makepeace series. A very gripping fast paced adventure! I really want to travel on The Eden because the descriptions were so good!! Can’t wait for the next one! Thank you NetGalley for letting me review this book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review The Traitor by Ava Glass.

The book is a sequel of Alias Emma and takes us on a high stakes, engaging spy adventure through London, the Mediterranean Sea, and many other locations. Emma Makepeace (not her real name, of course) is a young spy trusted with an undercover mission to identify a mole inside UK intelligence helping chemical weapons dealers.. I enjoyed getting to know Emma better in this follow up novel. I had a hunch about the mole from the beginning, but I still enjoyed the ride until Emma figured things out. I'll absolutely follow her along on future missions.

I'd recommend this book to any fans of the spy genre who want a change from the usual male-dominated genre. I'm always on the lookout for female lead thrillers, and the Emma Makepeace series fits the bill.

The second spy thriller in the series featuring Emma. I love the fast paced action that comes with these reads. The yacht setting made this a fun read as I also enjoy the Below Deck series. The action and chase scenes in this book kept me glued to the pages as couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. It wasn’t as intense as the first book in the series, but that made it a great read as one could catch a breath before the next action scene. I love this heroine and cannot wait to see more from this author. Ava Glass has become a favorite and must read author for me.

Thank you for inviting me to read this latest edition in the Emma series. I highly recommend.

I was a huge fan of “Alias Emma” so was excited to read the sequel; this did not disappoint. 9 months following the previous book, we follow on with Emma’s story. Fast paced, with great characterization, action and dialog, I really enjoyed this and read this in almost one sitting as Emma goes undercover in the south of France.

I would highly recommend this book to those that enjoy political thrillers, spy novels and action plots. I hope there is a third in the series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for sharing an eARC of this book with me.

Having read Alias Emma, I was eager to get my hands on the sequel. I was not disappointed. As a matter of fact, I think this books is better than the first one. The action is solid, the characters both simple and complex and the pacing is solid. On a side note, the sex scene was thankfully more PG-13/TV-14 than R/TV-MA (which is a bit cliche IMHO). Overall, a nice summer/beach read with hidden depth.

Thank you Random House and Netgalley for sharing the upcoming installment of the Emma Makepeace series. This was enjoyable, but lacked the punch of the first novel. I still like the character a lot, and the action keeps coming, but parts of this story didn’t grab me. I will probably keep reading the series.

Thanks NetGalley for an ARC of this book. This is the second in the series. It can stand alone, but you will enjoy the first one too. Emma works for MI6. Her mom thinks she works in the foreign office helping diplomats. In this book, Emma is sent to a yacht owned by a Russian drug dealer. Emma soon becomes friends with his mistress, Madison. Then, like any good spy book, someone figures out who she really is. She is compromised because someone one at MI6 is a traitor. It’s up to Emma and her boss to find the traitor and stop him or her. This book is fast paced. It would be a great beach read but I don’t see it being a book club selection. I’m pretty sure that someone somewhere will pick this up for a movie and that would be brilliant. Enjoy

The Traitor
This book is wonderful. It is spies, oligarchs, super yachts (six stories, two swimming pools) tasteful cuisines, deluxe hotels…you are caught up in those settings. Elegance in Europe. But, our heroine, Emma Makepeace is a British spy with a small, very elite group based in London in this twisty tale of espionage. The author has done a fantastic job of developing protagonists, good guys, they are your cohorts in tough spots. Your heart races as Emma faces another close-up call. You really feel as if you are there. But wait, one of these ‘good guys’ is
a traitor. Great job!!, Emma!
I really recommend that you read this book…mystery, suspense and more…enjoy, as I did.

Another great entry to this series, a little bit more character development made for a great sophomore effort, can’t wait for the next one.

I LOVED the first book in this series, Alias Emma. I was thrilled to get my hands on the sequel, even though I knew it would be a tough act to follow. I still think Emma is a fantastic character and I enjoyed the 'process side' of being a spy. I would describe the story and plot for The Traitor to be a bit more standard than the first book, but still very enjoyable.

For a large part of the book, Emma is undercover on a yacht and cut off from any support and help. It makes for fast and intense reading as she tries to accomplish her mission while keeping her cover. I love how bright and fearless Emma is. and how she's so driven. I don't feel like I've read many female driven spy narratives with a character like that.

I didn't find the conclusion of the story to be all that surprising, but the book was absolutely a pleasure to read and I'll be hoping there are even more missions for Emma Makepeace to tackle in the future.

I have mixed feelings about this one -- it was entertaining to a degree, but I didn't totally buy into the story line. Things seemed pretty simplified, and I had difficulty picturing the main character as a spy. I didn't really understand the title either, as 90% of the book had nothing to do with the traitor.

Overall it was ok -- was well-written but just didn't connect with me,

3.5 stars, rounded down to 3.

I received a complimentary copy of the novel from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Did not enjoy this entry into the series. Emma is.. not a good agent. And the technology made it feel like it was taking place in the early 2000’s. I was not particularly impressed.

It was wonderful to be reunited with brilliant spy (from Alias Emma) Emma Makepeace in this well-paced, energetic thriller. There is treason, romantic tension, financial crimes, and a dash of Below Deck energy as a significant portion takes place on a yacht where Emma is posing as a stew.

I was riveted by the Traitor and enjoyed cheering Emma on as she skillfully searches for information on who may have brazenly killed an MI6 operative. While I was a wee bit disappointed that I had correctly guessed a plot twist, there is still plenty of suspense and action to keep you entertained from start to finish. 4,5 stars.

Thank you very much to Random House Ballantine and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

P.S. Is it too much to hope for an Emma and Michael reunion in book three?!
