I enjoyed this non-stop British spy thriller with a female James Bond-style driven heroine. Loved the plot and the exotic locations!

Fast paced and tension filled, The Traitor kept me intrigued and guessing from beginning to end. This is a book that I will buy for friends and family.

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Ballantine for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Another 5 star book from Ava Glass. Thrilled that I was given the chance to read another ARC in this series, which is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Emma is such a great character - again, I have to liken her to Sydney in the TV show Alias: strong, independent, kick-ass. This one was also edge of your seat, intense, keep you up late, don't want to put it down, action packed. Given the fact that the first part takes place on a yacht, you'd think it would limit the action and suspense. You'd be wrong!
Even when you've figured out who the titular character is, your heart is racing along with Emma's to see how it all turns out. I would say that you don't have to read the first to understand what's going on in Emma's world, but why deny yourself? Go read both of them!! Would give this more than 5 stars.

“After Emma” was an absolutely brilliant and clever spy novel, and now Emma Makepiece, central character of that thriller, has returned. This time, she’s on a case wherein a young MI6 numbers analyst was found macabrely stuffed into a suitcase in his locked apartment. As in the first book of the series, Emma has to go it alone without agency support when she is inserted undercover on the yacht of a Russian billionaire. Worse, she’s a tad suspicious of her on-land handler. He has a marvelous Scottish accent, but something is off. What I loved about Emma before stands true: she’s capable and intelligent and can overcome obstacles in a way that makes this spy novel pulse-pounding and spectacular!

My thanks to pseudonymous author Ava Glass (read the acknowledgments of “”Alias Emma” to figure out who this is) who is championing a modern day heroine in Emma Makepiece. We definitely need more female spies! 5 stars!

Thank you to Random House/Ballantine/Bantam and NetGalley for a free advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

As a huge fan of Alias Emma, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read an advance copy of The Traitor. I loved this one as well. Once again, Emma had a harrowing espionage assignment, this time on a yacht without nearby backup. She had to try to do her assignment and keep herself and others safe while worrying about a possible traitor within her organization. I flew through the book, finding it very exciting and intense. I enjoyed revisiting the continuing characters, and I found the villains she investigated very scary. I also liked the various locales where she traveled. Although this book could be read and enjoyed without reading the previous book, it would be a shame to miss the fabulous Alias Emma. I highly recommend this book, and I can't wait for the next addition to the series.

“The Traitor” was a good sequel. An MI6 analyst is found in a suitcase in his flat, killed by a nerve agent, VX. He had been tracking the finances of two Russian oligarchs with homes and.business in England and elsewhere, and who were suspected of providing chemical weapons to unsavory individuals and nations. The investigation was terminated prematurely (budget cuts), but the analyst continued the investigation on his own, and to his own peril.

To uncover the secrets, including the identity of a presumed British traitor working with/for the Russians, Emma will go undercover on the yacht of one of the Russians, Volkov. She will be essentially unsupported, as recent events have made Volkov, and especially his bodyguard, extra suspicious and cautious, making it nearly impossible to bring any type of communication or surveillance equipment. Adding to the confusion is the erratic behavior of Volkov’s young American mistress, Madison, whose primary interest is partying hard. Her behavior creates complications for Emma, who wants to protect Madison without compromising the mission (an impossible task).

The story has plenty of action and intrigue. Although the identity of the British traitor is not too hard to figure out.

Read Alias Emma and loved it, didn’t know this one existed but so glad it was offered. Loved it just as much as the first one! Emma is always getting herself into way too many situations, and manages to keep her wits about her all the time., even when she is on a boat in the middle of the ocean. So many twists and turns in this one, and a couple of surprises along the way. Emma is like a female James Bond💜💜 Very entertaining story! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
