I just finished this book and it was the first time reading the author. It did not disappoint! The book revolves around
domestic violence and what extremes women have to deal with!
It was intense and heartbreaking at times but it draws you in to the last page!
I will look forward to reading some of her other books!

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

There’s not a lot revealed in the blurb on this book which doesn’t leave much room to describe the plot. Elise and Sean are enjoying a rare night out when they come home to find the police have been called to their house. An anonymous caller claimed that their baby was missing from that address. But Elise and Sean rush inside to find their baby daughter, Kitty, is just fine and their older daughter, Megan, is having a perfectly normal night babysitting. So, what’s going on? It turns out that Elise is full of secrets and knows exactly who would pull a stunt like this.

Thus follows a story with two narrative timeframes – one now and one fifteen years ago. The reader discovers how what happened back then leads to what’s happening now. It’s a pretty typical story with a surprising ending and I wish more of that creativeness had been present earlier in the book. It’s a quick read, good for when you want an easy mystery that’s not too complicated. I’ve enjoyed this author’s other works, which are similar to this one. If you’ve enjoyed her other books and know what to expect, this one won’t disappoint.

This talented author has written a page turner. The subjects in this book are painful but realistic. The main character is hiding from her past. Someone finds her. This is terrifying. She tries to protect her family to no avail. She remembers her past. It is now her present. Intrigue at its best. Secrets kept me guessing. The outcome is a huge surprise. I liked this book because although it is fiction, at times it reads like nonfiction. Don’t miss this story. It is heart wrenching.

I haven’t enjoyed all of Wendy’s books but I sure liked this one! This book is told from different viewpoints as well as past and present regarding Elise’s life. I felt scared right along with Elise but also frustrated with Megan as to wanting answers. I powered through this. I did guess what would be the truth around Megan though. Def recommended!

The Night Out by Wendy Clarke is yet another addictive, propulsive read from this not to be missed author.

Elise is happily married to Sean and together they are raising two daughters. Returning home after an evening out, she is horrified to find the police waiting. Someone has reported an infant missing, and Elise nearly collapses with relief to find her own sweet baby snuggled safely in her crib. Could this be a simple mistake, or a warning that someone knows something about the past that she has been running from for fifteen long years?

This one had me flying through the pages with unease, and the anticipation of what was about to unfold. Ms Clarke can always be relied upon to deliver a winner, and she has done it once again.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

While not my favorite book, it is a quick interesting read that went fast and kept me wanting to know more. There were some good twists, but it is a bit triggering with the abuse the main character faced. I’m glad I didn’t see where the story was going all the time, it kept it interesting. I also liked the duel timelines.

This was my first book by this author and she wasn't really an author who was on my radar previously however that has now changed.

The premise to this book really drew me in and the opening chapters had my heart in my mouth and dying to know what was going to come next.

The author created a real sense of tension in Elise's character that kept me intrigued right through to the end of the novel.

Really enjoyable novel and very easy to get lost in it.

Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
