Another excellent standalone novel by John Nicholl.
Similar to other novels John links previous characters at crucial parts and works well for continuity.
Fast paced and realistic and highly recommended.

I've read many books by this author and was so excited to be approved to read this ahead of everyone else! WOW! This is a fantastic psychological thriller that will absolutely make you double check to make sure your doors are locked at night. I loved everything about this book from the first page to the very last. I highly recommend that you get your hands on this book the first opportunity you have!

I do enjoy this authors books & this one was no exception! I was hooked from the start & flew through it to find out what was going to happen!!!

The book opens with Daisy, pregnant and in jail awaiting trial for the murder of her husband James. She is writing her story of her innocence for her unborn daughter. She tells the story of how they first met, fell in love and how James went missing on their return from honeymoon. His body was later found on the beach. The police are struggling to make any headway with their investigations. Then Oliver turns up and worms his way into Daisy's life. He was an old friend of James from university and we soon realise that he is not what he seems. This is a story of secrets and revenge with so man unexpected twists and turns that will keep you gripped. A highly recommended read.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last.
The story is told from the point of view of one person and that is Daisy, the bride.
They story begins when the couple stop at a service station near on the way back home from their honeymoon and James goes missing from there!
The story continues with a lovely pace and you are hooked in wondering what happens next.
It’s a psychological thriller with some lovely twists and turns, absolutely fantastic. I didn’t guess how it would end at all.

The Bride is a gripping original read. Keeps you guessing and saying to yourself just one more page. Till that one more page becomes you reading the entire book in one sitting, as you cannot put it down as you just have to know what happens next.

This is a brilliant story that hooked me very quickly. It’s unique and unlike any other book I’ve read.

This is told from our main character Daisy’s perspective and is completely unpredictable. Daisy is determined that her unborn child will know the truth about events that have taken place. This is a tense read with plenty of pace. You easily become caught up in the story unfolding.

I’ve loved daisy, she’s a great character and one you can’t help but want the best for. However, Jamie and Oliver are both vile. I certainly wasn’t upset at Jamie’s disappearance.

This is everything I’ve wanted in a read and I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Sipping thoughts: Secrets, lies and deceit. That is what you get as you read any of Nicholl’s books and this one does not disappoint. Who is telling the truth and what happened is a recipe for a good thriller. The way the narrator, Daisy, tells her story as she is on trial for the murder of her husband is such an opening grabber. I enjoyed this and will be reading more from this author.

John Nicholl's books always hook me from the start with a wonderfully tense and gripping storyline and The Bride is no exception. I absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to discover Daisy's story and find out what had happened to her new husband, James.

The tension is palpable throughout as Daisy tells her story about how she so quickly went from being a bride to a widow. We meet Daisy, widowed and pregnant, when she is remanded in prison and writing her story for her unborn child. As if that wasn't enough of a hook, the mysterious circumstances surrounding her new husband's disappearance and subsequent death had me doubly hooked.

I loved how the book is written in Daisy's voice and it really felt as if she was speaking out loud to me as I was reading. You can't help but feel sorry for her when her happy days as a newlywed are cut so devastatingly short. I couldn't read fast enough to find out what had happened to James and how Daisy has ended up on trial for murder. I had many theories and I'm delighted to say that all of them were wrong!

Addictive, twisty and tense, The Bride is an incredibly gripping psychological thriller that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I have not long read The Cellar which was a rather dark and twisted read and I was expecting that same feel from The Bride but this was much more tamer, yet still a gripping thriller.

Dairy Earl newly married, pregnant and also newly widowed she is writing her story from her prison cell where she is being held after being arrested and charged with alleged murder of her husband James. She is determined to clear her name for her unborn child and find the truth behind his death. Told in the form of flashbacks before and after James murder we are treated to what life was like for these young lovebirds who have been together since high school and all through college. 

This once again a gripping thriller form Nicholl and that twist at the end! Oh boy I had to read it several times!

This is a slow-burn psychological thriller that ramps up the pace about three quarters of the way in.

There’s plenty for the reader to speculate on as the first person narrative is delivered almost as a stream of consciousness, reliving moments from the past in the guise of a memoir for the main character’s unborn daughter.

There’s definite intrigue as you start to second guess who is telling the truth about what happened to James as the couple returned from their honeymoon, and it’s easy to come up with several possible theories along the way.

The way the story is relayed makes it quite hard to feel much empathy for amy of the characters, with each seemingly hiding dark secrets of their own. I was desperate to know what James’ parents were concealing.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and there was sufficient suspense and twists in the plot to keep me interested until the end.

This was the first book I have read of John Nicholl's and it won't be the last. This was a totally gripping psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping ending, that will keep you reading late into the night. I liked that this book had short chapters that made you feel like you were flying through it. I will be recommending this book!

I have to say I found this slow 🐌 paced. We are told this whole story from Daisy POV whom in currently in prison she is taking us through the whole journey.

Why is Daisy in jail while awaiting a murder trial although she loved James with every fibre of her being? And who is the enigmatic Oliver, and what drives him?

I wasn't anticipating the ending at all, but it was just like wow. This was really excellent.

I know that I did enjoy this books, but unfortunately I read it a while ago so it's difficult to leave helpful feedback. Must remember to review books straight after I read them. I do remember it was good though.

How does Daisy, a new bride, end up on trial for the murdering her husband James? James disappears from a rest stop while returning from their honeymoon. Daisy is frantic and eventually turns to a dark figure in her husband's past for support. You will have to read the story as it unfolds in Daisy's first person POV to find out how she ended up in prison for murder!
