The fifth book in this series. Marissa has worked for Patrick for five years. Will a fake relationship lead to something real for them? A great read and I liked how it is told from both points of view.

Marissa Barrett finds herself married to her boss, Patrick Dominic after she turns to him for help. Due to her family, especially her brother, she finds herself in a dangerous situation and Patrick would do anything to help, even have a marriage of convenience. Yet neither of them counted on an attraction between them.
The relationship between Patrick and Marissa is well developed, particularly as they are a couple that work so well together. Their relationship is believable with easy going dialogue between the characters and their family members. Whilst I have read several books in this series, this can be read as a standalone story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Patrick and Marissa clicked in business, but could they add a personal relationship without damaging their working relationship? Marissa’s brother… seriously bad dude. I love it when the siblings rib each other. Light read for a summer day.

4 star Review Kiss Me (The Donovan’s #5) by Samantha Chase
Kiss Me was a well written story that ticked a number of boxes for me. This time we have Patrick Donovan and Marissa Barrett’s and it was an enjoyable read.

It was good to be back in Laurel Bay with the often interfering Donovan family. When Marissa asks her boss Patrick for help the last things she expects is to find herself married to him .

It was entertaining to watch the push and pull dynamic as their story unfolded. Patrick has been attracted to Marissa for some time but was determined never to act on it until fate gives him the perfect opportunity.

By marrying Marissa for a year, he will keep her safe from her family but he had no idea how difficult it would be. The other Donovan’s did what they do best and poked their noses into the relationship and that made for some fun times. .

However, what happens when fake feelings suddenly become real? One click and find out.

"Kiss Me" is the fifth book in Samantha Chase's "The Donovans" series. While I haven't read any of the other books in the series, I was still able to understand the characters fairly easily. This book centers around Marissa, whose drug addicted brother is causing her serious security concerns. As a result, her boss and friend, Patrick, offers to let her move in with him. While her security issues continue, Patrick offers to marry her to provide her further protection.

While I typically enjoy the "marriage of convenience" trope, I had a hard time believing the relationship between Patrick and Marissa. The chemistry between the two just wasn't believable and I found myself skimming through the second half of the book. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I read the book and I can't say that it's bad, but I can't say that it particularly impressed me either. The beginning was promising, I liked the chemistry I felt between Patrick and Marissa. As the book progressed I found it more and more boring and I couldn't wait to finish it.This does not mean that I will not read more of Samantha's books because I have already read several of her books because her writing style is simple and beautiful.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you NetGalley, PR Valentine and Samantha Chase for this opportunity.

This was a fun read and one that I really enjoyed.
The characters are very relatable and so lovable, you’ll want nothing but the best for them.
I adored the connection and chemistry between Marissa and Patrick.
The storytelling in this book is captivating.
From the beginning I was sucked into the story and enjoyed every second of it.
These books have been such a joy to read.

This is the third book that I have read in The Donovans book series. I loved Marissa and Patrick as characters, but something was lacking in this story. I think it's because there really wasn't any tension or obstacle in the way of them being together. Everyone in the Donovan family accepted their marriage, and they seemed happy together. Even though it was a marriage of convenience, their marriage turned physical pretty early on. They both cared about each other for years because they worked together, and they clearly both had feelings for each other.

There was a lot going on with Marissa's brother and mother, and I don't think it really went anywhere. I know they needed a reason to have to get married quickly, but it just didn't make sense to me.

I love checking in with the Donovan family, and I have enjoyed other books in the series. I look forward to the spinoff series with the Donovans cousins.

Thanks to NetGalley and Valentine for an ARC of this book.

KISS ME!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! I love the Donovans series! You can't go wrong with any Donovan book. Kiss me captured me from the beginning. Patrick and Marissa are so cute together. Both fighting their attraction to each other from the start. 5 years!!! Marissa works for Patrick and Patrick has always kept things professional, even though it is extremely hard for him!
Marissa needs help, her family always puts her in situations, very unfortunate situations which could cause danger. You really feel for Marissa. I had tears right along with her. Patrick strikes a perfect deal for them. Both thinking of course, feelings aren't going to get in the way! Little do they know, feelings are hard to resist when living under the same roof. They battle the ups and downs with family, the relationship, and their true feelings for each other. In the end love always win.
Pick up Kiss Me and enjoy the story of Patrick and Marissa. An added bonus is all the other Donovan's that we have grown to love! I love their banter! It just makes you smile and laugh!
Enjoy!

I love that Patrick and Marissa's story was saved for the last.
Patrick is the quite kid that you forget about until they have something to say then all eyes are on them. Whereas Marissa would have loved to be the one that is forgotten about. We knew that it was going to be them in the end if you have read the other books in this series. How they get there is what's new. I love all of the interaction between the Dovovan family. I just wish that we got to see more of Marissa's then just here brother. Maybe some of the visit's that she had with her mom.

This really fell flat for me. The premise is absolutely something I usually enjoy but there was really no chemistry between these characters. It’s not a taboo workplace romance, everyone seems pretty accepting and they don’t hide their relationship (obviously, it’s a marriage of convenience), which is totally fine I enjoy sweet romances as well but this isn’t sweet either. They have stilted conversations back and forth and most of the time the hero Patrick seemed to think heroine Marissa was oblivious or kind of dumb (this is all my impression/interpretation). Things like she’d say “do you remember (blank)?” And he’d reply “uhh yeah you mean yesterday?” weirded out in his internal monologue. Some variation of this happened many times. The whole thing was awkward.

I thought maybe the spice would help my rating but it’s mostly fade to black and feels like it’s happening to different characters. I have no clue why they were even interested in each other. The other non-romance plot got extremely repetitive and the third act conflict was pretty random.

All in all I would’ve DNFed if it wasn’t an ARC. Thank you to NetGalley and Valentine for the opportunity to read this, I really wished I enjoyed it more.

When life throws Marissa Barrett into complete upheaval, she turns to her boos and good friend Patrick Donovan for comfort. What she never saw coming is the plan that Patrick devises that not only gets her family situation under control but also gives him the plus one he needs to attend his sibling's wedding while at the same time keeping his mother off his back. But the plan to marry gets blown out of the water when close proximity leads to passion igniting. Will the "marriage" become more than either one of them ever saw coming? Or will this be the beginning of a HEA? Once again Samantha Chase gives her reader the best in family drama while also giving them beautifully written characters and a storyline they wil not want to end. Each and every Donovan book in the series has been better than the one before and this one tops them all.

Kiss Me is the fifth book in Samantha Chase’s “The Donovan’s” series. This book features Patrick Donovan and Marissa. Patrick is a real estate guru and much of his success is due to Marissa, his assistant and, recently, close friend. Marissa’s homelife is anything but good, and when a series of events turns her unpleasant family relations to dangerous, she needs a quick fix. What better way to fix your problems than have a marriage of convenience?

Samantha Chase has done it again in this newest book, she somehow manages to make a super romantic book with a deeper emotional plot full of family drama. Kiss Me might just be my favorite of the series so far. The two MC are so lovable and you want to root for them. As usual with this series, there is a perfect amount of sexy:romance:emotional ratio.

If you don’t like a marriage of convenience trope, prefer a spicy romance or are triggered by abuse, then this might not be the book for you. Overall, I really loved this book and it was such a quick easy read. Anyone that loves romance with a deeper emotional plot will absolutely love anything written by Samantha Chase. As always, I will be on the lookout for her next novel!

Kiss Me by Samantha Chase, book five in The Donovans series, is a marriage of convenience story between Patrick, the last Donovan sibling and his assistant Marissa Bennett. Marissa finds herself in a dangerous situation with her family, mainly due to her no good brother Daren, and needs help. Patrick Donovan would do anything to help his assistant. She has been helping him run his business and holds it together. All his siblings are in relationships and getting married, so his meddling mother puts her focus on setting him up. When Marissa needs some help from Patrick, he comes up with a solution to benefit them both. They marry for a year, in the hope that this will give Marissa the support and security she needs to stays safe as she battles her brother and Patrick's family stops setting him up in dates. What neither counted on were the deep feelings they had buried coming to the surface and complicating things as the sparks start flying. This is ultimately a romance that has good looking characters, a great supportive family and some drama. We also get to catch up with the other four siblings and their significant others, plus we meet some new family members as well… meaning more Donovan books in the future. I highly recommend Kiss Me to other readers.

I LOVE Samantha Chase! I’m a major fan-girl when it comes to this gal - show me an upcoming book release in her name and I’m desperate to get my hands on it! I’m working through her back catalogue as well. This, The Donovans series, is definitely my favourite and I’m so excited we’re about to get a spin-off for their cousins!! I was sad when I thought this was the end…

I thought a couple of the others in this series were my fave - but I was wrong. This one - this is my fave! It’s sooooo good, and Patrick has so many hidden depths we didn’t know about until his assistant Marissa needs his help when her Mom is hospitalized and her low-life brother is creating major (scary) problems for her. He comes to her rescue not just with a spare room and friendship, but a marriage of convenience to get her brother off her back. What happens from there is where the story goes off the rails and gets really good and why it’s my favourite in the series!

I completely and totally recommend this one to every romance reader out there - but you’ll want to read the whole series to get the background history of the whole Donovan family (all the characters feature very prominently throughout).

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley and Valentine PR, and this is my honest feedback.

I enjoyed Kiss Me by Samantha Chase. Patrick and Marissa make a nice couple and I'm glad they got their HEA. There is a bit of suspense with Marissa's brother, but to tell you the truth, that was my least favorite part of this book. I really didn't see that as a good reason for them getting married except in a romance novel. I guess we needed that as the catalyst, but it didn't work for me as a way out of her situation - i thought it would just escalate it. Other than that, I was happy with the way their love story developed. It is a strong 4 star read. Thank you NetGalley and Samantha Chase for an ARC of Kiss Me.

The final Donovan sibling is getting married. Well, a marriage of convenience anyway. Patrick asks his assistant, Marissa, to marry him, to help her out of a sticky family situation. And sparks fly pretty quickly. We also get to catch up with the other four siblings and their significant others, plus we meet some new family members as well… meaning more Donovan books in the future?

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Kiss Me to come out July 18, 2023.
