I loved this book! I didn't know much about it or the author before I started reading, but I was surprised - in a good way.
The book starts in a way that made clear to me that I will be getting the escapism I needed. Romance and reality TV - the perfect mixture.
I read it super quickly because I was flying through the pages and oh - the tension between the characters: *gold*. Nothing is more important in a romance than good tension (not necessarily in a sexual way!) and this book had it.
The main characters are very likeable, the other characters are if not likeable then at least adding to my interest for the story. Some of my favourites are Sam and Cooper. And Emily's iconic mom of course!
I wouldn't say the book was perfect, but I really really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a romance and some escapism. Will I be reading more books by the author? Definitely!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC to review. As always, my opinion has not been influenced by this in any way.

Love Love Loved this book!!

The Love Rematch is the perfect second-chance romance book! When Emily's mum goes on National Tv and says her Daughter should be the next lead on a bachelor-inspired dating show, what Emily doesn't realise her ex who walked out on her 7 years ago is a producer on the show. Jake now has to find his ex a husband but what if he's not over her after all?

If you love the Bachelor franchise or any dating reality show then you'll love this story, I devoured this book it has all the best tropes and surprises you just don't see coming. Kay Marie was a new to me author and I'm so thankful I received an advanced reader copy of this book and I'm now going to go back and read her backlog of books!

“Emily Ann needs a man!” Or at least that’s what her mother proclaims to all of America from the crowd at a morning tv show! Next thing Emily knows she’s agreeing to date 30 men as the next female lead on the reality dating show The Love Match! Emily thinks this will be the perfect opportunity to finally get over her Ex who broke her heart 7 years ago and to promote her growing jewelry line. The only problem is that on night one of filming said Ex is revealed to be a producer on the show! Let the second chance romance begin!

I wanted to read this one because the idea of an off-set romance during the bachelorette sounded like so much fun! And I haven’t even watched the actual show in years! 😂

The Love Rematch is a charming easy read perfect for the pool. The main characters are sweet and the cast of side characters, from the male suitors to the other producers, are fun additions. The descriptions of the dates and travel for the show were spot on and fun to read! The big romantic gesture wasn’t at all what I thought it was going to be! The story is told in dual perspectives using the present tense but the author weaves in details from the first time they dated whenever something in the present sparks a memory from the past. This was a nice way to give context to their lasting feelings, but the execution felt clunky at times. I had to reread several passages.

The thing that’s keeping me from giving it the fourth ⭐️ is purely personal preference. There’s just too much reliance on the miscommunications and secret keeping for my taste. My tolerance for those tropes is very low these days. I also do not like to read characters that believe they’re unworthy of love simply because they had a terrible parent and believe that they too must be a terrible person. There are and will be plenty of readers who will be able to see past those things. While I might not have loved this one, the ending did leave me wanting to read book two in the series and I think the author picked the perfect main characters for it! *Closed door*

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my arc. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and reviewed it voluntarily.

I wasn’t expecting to love this book as much as I did. It’s so cute and it put the biggest smile on my face.

This was the first time I read a romance with a reality show setting and I loved the vibes. It was so much fun, I loved seeing the true reality of a reality show (because we all know what they show on tv is fake) and it provided me some laugh out loud moments.

I enjoyed the writing so much, it’s easy to read, and the author doesn't waste time repeating the same information. The pacing of the book was great, this is a slow burn romance, which I love and didn’t feel slow to me. Plus, we have dual pov, wich is always amazing to see in romances.

Emily and Jake won my heart so quickly. I love them individually and I loved them as a couple. They both had so many issues, so many insecurities and fears preventing them from truly living their lives and be 100% honest with each other. The problems in their relationship would’ve easily been solved if they just communicated, however, they were so young when the relationship fell apart and I understand they were not in the right state of mind to be everything each other deserved. I don’t mind miscommunication, as long and it makes sense to me, and even though I wanted to scream at them sometimes, their lack of communication wasn’t something that made me enjoy the book any less.

Something I love about second chance romance is getting to see those little moments when the couple looks at each other and reminisces on their past relationship. I loved seeing that connection, the love that’s still there, the shared memories. It makes my heart fluter and fills my stomach with butterflies. Jake and Emily have great chemistry, there was a lot of tension between them and I loved every second of it. They were both pining for each other the whole time.

This is a light, fun rom-com, but it does delve into some serious topics and I like the way the author handled them.

Overall, I’m so happy, this was such a great read. It’s a little cheesy at times, but it just feels so good to read romances like this once in a while. We all need cute and wholesome romances in our lives. I’m looking forward to reading the next book.

The Love Rematch is basically a"The Bachelorette" fan's dream. Emily Peters is foisted upon a show called "The Love Match" thanks to her mother's meddling. Unfortunately, her ex Jake just so happens to work on the show's crew.

It was a fun little romp, and there was a lot I really did want to like about it, but I found myself struggling to connect with the main characters for some reason. I think I didn't really like Jake -- to avoid spoilers, I found the reason for their initial breakup completely justified, and he really did the same thing to Emily again later in the book. Jake really seemed to think he knew Emily better than herself... Some of the descriptions were very beautiful, but some of the tropes were way too on the nose for my taste.

While I didn't exactly connect with this title, I will keep my eye out for the sequel. I already am feeling really good about the teased male lead for the next book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this eArc!

I adored this book; it's a second chances trope with borderline enemies to lovers trope meets the Bachelorette. Emily is our female protagonist who, because of her Mum's intervention, ends up bagging the lead for a dating reality TV, the producer of the show turns out to be none other than Emily's ex, Jake. I will add I loved that detail of Emily's Mum not being able to tell the difference between her twin daughters so that momen where Jake finds out Emily/Sam are going to be a part of the show (and the character build up of Jake in that moment) is *chef's kiss* for me. So many moments I really loved in this book. There are some minor trigger warnings which I will reference but otherwise I found the storyline flowed so easily and the plot is beautiful. I could not predict where the story was going to go which is nice for a romance novel and both Emily and Jake are loveable characters. It was heading for an easy 5 stars but I think the ending just dragged ever so slightly for me. It is a favourite of the year for me regardless and I can't recommend the book enough. Be sure to grab a copy on when it releases on 16 October 2023. Thank you @netgalley and @KaitlynDavis for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

ITS. SO. GOOD. The Love Rematch is a witty, fast-paced, and super-fun read! This book is a second-chance romance with a hilarious and realistic main character that will actually make you laugh out loud. Kay Marie does a fantastic job of making you fall in love with not just the MC but the supporting characters as well; I adored Emily’s sister!

My only critique is a minor one. While the overarching trope is second-chance, it also has ‘miscommunication’ vibes, which is not a personal favorite. But that didn’t stop me from absolutely devouring this book!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kay Marie for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Firstly, thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for allowing me to read an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I was honestly surprised by how much I liked this book. It ticks off a lot of boxes in the tropes that I like second chance romance, forced proximity, and dual POV. This book felt a lot like a mix of The Bachelorette (a US-based reality TV show)and Happy Place by Emily Henry.
The story was absolutely messy and chaotic in a good way. It even starts off in a fun way and will leave you gripping from page one.
I like how our main lead Emily wasn’t shown as a dumb and shallow character who trusts everyone easily. Infract she is shown as being vigilant and keeping her guard up. There was also good character development on Emily’s part as she starts making her own rational decisions and gets more independent as the story goes on.
The background for Jake felt derivative maybe because I have read something similar before. But it was so heartbreaking to read his part of the story and to know why walked away from her all those years ago. It’s always tough to see the male leads being shown as vulnerable but I loved it. I loved to see him grow and accept and forgive himself.

OHHH also I cannot wait for book two which is about two of our other favorite characters.

This will definitely be a tiktok/bookstagram hit when it releases.
Book release: October 16th, 2023.

"The Love Rematch" is a charming romantic comedy written by Kay Marie, which revolves around characters who have a shared past and unresolved emotions. The plot takes us on a captivating adventure as they reconnect with their history and embark on a quest for new opportunities. The genuine and intense chemistry between the characters makes the narrative endearing and relatable. Emily works at a family flower shop and runs a small jewellery shop at night. One thing she doesn't have time for is to date. Especially since she is still not over her high school boyfriend who broke her heart seven years ago.

That all changes after the clip of her mother begging, for America to find her a boyfriend. It goes viral and catches the attention of the hit dating show, The Love Match. She is the next bachelorette.

She is a bit reluctant to go, but it's only six weeks. What could go wrong at that time?

Well, her ex-boyfriend, whom she was pining for, works for the show. Actually, he is hoping for a promotion. He left everything behind to make it in Hollywood and it hasn't gone all according to plan.

Close proximity, second chance romance with a reality tv as scenery, provides for a very entertaining love story.

It's fun, it's romantic, and the characters are very interesting. I liked the storyline but found some parts quite confusing.

Great read. Read in one day and can’t wait for book two! The tension between these two was delicious, the ending of this book was heart felt and I’m excited to read more Kay Marie books. I think the only reason I didn’t give the book 5 stars is I wanted more grovelling. Haha!!

I absolutely loved this book! The perfect combination of fun and sweet… if you love second chance romances and reality dating shows, this is the perfect story and you won’t be disappointed. I will definitely be recommending this one!! Thank you Netgalley for providing me the ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review

I liked both MC--Emily and Jake--just fine. Their story was very predictable, and the "twist" at the end was also clearly obvious from a mile awhile. That didn't bother me.

Instead, I struggled with how much of the plot was just a literal recap of what happens on the Bachelor/Bachelorette. If you've ever seen previews or read one click-bait article about "behind the scenes", then you already know how this story is going to play out. It was something that I, personally, just couldn't get over in terms of lazy writing, which is a shame because the flow of the book and writing style itself were good.

Overall: 3 stars

⊰ 5 stars all the way oh my goooooood

First of all, I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!

The Love Rematch follows Emily Peters as she suddenly gets cast as the new lead for the dating show, The Love Match. Emily works in her mother’s flower shop and owns her own startup jewelry shop. Emily arrives to start filming for The Love Match, when suddenly she finds herself face-to-face with Jake, her ex who disappeared without a trace, leaving her heartbroken. Emily decides revenge is the way to go and sets out to do whatever it takes to sabotage Jake. But will Emily be able to go through with it when their attraction seems to still be there after seven years? And will they be able to overcome the secrets and insecurities of their past?

This book really took me by surprise, I absolutely loved this book and it is currently one of my top favorite romance novels!
The book is ticking all the right trope boxes for me; forced proximity, second chance romance, dual POV and much more. I absolutely loved the setting of the book, it gives off major Bachelor vibes and gives us a small peek behind the scenes of how shows like that work.
Even though the title pretty much already gives away that the story is a second chance romance, there’s still a lot of plot to be discovered and tension building in this book.
I love that we jump right into the story and take off running, it really motivated me to keep reading and finish more chapters. I’m also super excited that we get to read a book about the other two major characters in this book (not spoiling this, you’re going to have to read it yourself to find out!).

I absolutely loved Emily’s character and her story arc! I was happy to see her come out of her shell for the filming of The Love Match, but still staying true to herself. I love that she didn’t immediately trust everyone around her and kept her guard up, because usually with these tropes the FMC trust everyone IMMEDIATELY and it makes it so much more difficult to read for me as a person with major trust issues. I love that Emily is a boss babe and even decides, before things get serious again with Jake, that she’s not going to get engaged to any of the other guys. This really showed her growth and independence for me.
I loved Jake’s character almost as much as Emily’s and his struggle with his past was so heartbreaking to read. Feeling like you’re the bad seed in someone’s life is such a relatable feeling for me and I could really understand his thinking process here. Him being strong enough to walk away from Emily was such a big character trait for him and it was absolutely heartbreaking to read his process while doing so.

As I said, this book is one of my top favorite romance novels at the moment! I am so grateful to have received an e-arc from this book and am very excited to read the next book in this series. I will also be looking into the other books this author has written, because I love her writing style and the pace she set in this book.
All I can say is; if you are into second chance romance, forced proximity, dual POV, revenge story lines, please please please read this book! Mark October 16th in your calendars, because you might want to finish this in one sitting!

A book based on The Bachelor? Don't mind if I do. From the very beginning, there's no question of the chemistry between Emily and Jake (something that's been lacking lately in romance books!), and it's not a leap to believe the events as they happen because of that obvious chemistry. This was genuinely so cute, and if we don't get more Emily and Jake, I'll riot.

This is a second chance romance that takes place on the set of a reality show like “the Bachelor”. That is the premise and if this appeals to you, you will enjoy this book like I did.

Emily and Jake were each other first loves until Jake leaves one day in the middle of the night. They never expected to see each other again especially on a dating show where he is supposed to help her find a man to marry.

There’s just something I love about a second chance romance. It usually involves a man admitting to past mistakes and groveling. Who doesn’t love that?

This book has some steamy scenes but nothing to make you really blush over. I throughly enjoined it.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you NetGallery for the Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review :).

This book was such a pleasant surprise. I started it at literally 4:30 in the morning and I was so hooked throughout the day.
The premise of this book is so interesting and gripping. And the writing style was just wonderfully entertaining. I also honestly loved how past, future and the present interacted in a way that still made it easy to follow.
The characters themselves were super likable (except some, we all know who I’m then about (E)). But what I also liked in this book is that Kay Marie found a really nice way of incorporating diverse characters into the storyline quite naturally (which is appreciated).
I love that everybody had their own storyline, and the book itself didn’t just only focus only on the love story, but more on the character development Emily and Jake went through. The tension and interest was also always kept by the little things that got revealed bit by bit.
I also particularly enjoyed that the reality of the reality TV shows was depicted realistically because as a binge watched of trash tv or dating shows I’ve had my fair share of watchtime and loved getting a view of the things you don’t see.
I also loved the romance between Jake and Emily. It was just the longing, the pining and the general questioning, color me intrigued. It was just so beautiful to see the romance rebuilding while being in a conflict because so many men were competing for Emily.
This will definitely not be the last time reading something from this author because this just hit the spot. And I am SO excited for Cooper and Sam as they were my favorite characters besides Jake and Emily, of course.
