As always, Ms Brunstetter has woven a beautiful story. It was one of the harder ones, because the intense level of sadness. However, as is the style of this amazing author, she brought realism of the Amish ways into an incredibly difficult storyline (showing how Amish people face the same intense pain and difficulties as everyone else, but how family and friends (and faith) can restore their very soul. I greatly enjoyed this story, as I always do enjoy stories by this author.

I will be recommending this book on my blog found at https://thefinalwordbooks.blogspot.com. I only publish reviews that meet a certain level of criteria, as I search for the very best work (in my opinion).

Thank you, Barbour Publishing, for this opportunity to read your books simply in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Barbour Publishing, an Wanda Brunstetter for allowing me to read an ARC of Letters of Comfort, book two in her series The Friendship Letters.
This is a very serious book dealing with the difficulties of depression and the struggle to overcome this problem. This is another problem of our society that is special to Mrs. Brunstetter’s heart.
The characters in the story are familiar to us that have read the first book in the series, but the author keeps us informed about each character so that the book could be read as a standalone. They are compelling and realistic.
This is Doretta and Warren’s story as each find friendship and comfort from each other after the death of William, Warren’s twin brother and Doretta’s finance. Each has to Learn how to lean on God again to carry them through this Tragedy.
Although this book is a bit predictable at times, it is well written and will offer encouragement to all who read it.

I highly recommend this 4-star book. The opinions are my own, and I was not required to give a positive review.

Letters of Comfort by best-selling author Wanda E. Brunstetter is book two in her series The Friendship Letters. This is a Christian, contemporary Amish fictionIt could be read as a stand alone with since the book shares characters with Book 1, readers might benefit from reading it first. The author does a stellar job keeping readers appraised on the activities that happened previously.

This is the story of Doretta. The book opens with Doretta and finance William joyfully counting down the days until their wedding. Then tragedy strikes in the form of a buggy accident and things swiftly change. Doretta is critically injured and in a coma. William is killed without her even knowing it.

From page I was invested in the story and its characters. My heart hurt for Doretta for the deep loss she had incurred. Her story was written in an open and honest way. This book shows ways that help those who are hurting. There is a strong message of faith woven throughout the entire fabric of this novel.

With themes of grief, depression, struggles, friendship, faith, and second chances, this is an emotionally charged story. Depression is handled in a realistic way. The characters are expertly crafted and believable. The dialog is authentic. For the most part the story is predictable, but the message of hope and restoration is genuine. This is a deeper, realistic subject series than most Amish ones that I have read. These issues are things that happen to everyone.

I highly recommend this book. It will stay with you and make you ponder over its finely crafted tale for a long time. This would make a great reading group choice. After the conclusion of the story, is a recipe from it. Following that are a note from the author, discussion question guide, and a listing of all of the books written by the author. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. A copy was provided by the publisher, but these are my honest words.

Letters of Comfort by Wanda E. Brunstetter has Doretta Schwartz in a buggy accident days before her wedding. When Doretta wakes up in the hospital, she learns her fiancé, William is dead, and she has suffered terrible injuries. Doretta finds herself despondent and grieving. Doretta’s letters helped her best friend Eleanor through a challenging time the previous year, and Eleanor is hoping she can do the same for Doretta. I thought Letters of Comfort was well-written with realistic characters and situations. I could feel the characters’ emotions. Doretta was struggling not only with her grief but with the limitations from the injuries she suffered. I could understand why she was in a dark place. It is good that Doretta has family and friends who love and support her. It will take time for Doretta to shed her depression and work through her grief. Understanding, love, faith, and encouragement are what Doretta needs during this challenging time. Warren, William’s twin brother, is grieving as well. He feels the loss of his twin deeply as do his parents. Warren and William were opening a health food store after William and Doretta’s wedding. Warren decides to proceed on his own, but he needs help in the store. He hires his girlfriend, but it is not a match made in heaven. Warren prays another solution will present itself to him. I like that we get to see how each character manages their grief. No two people handle the same way and I like that the author showed this in the story. The character’s relationship with God can help them with their journey through the stages of grief if they allow Him. I like how faith was interwoven into the story. Letters of Comfort is an emotional story (make sure to have a box of tissues nearby). I appreciated the humor sprinkled throughout the story. It gave some lightness to the story that was needed. Letters of Comfort is the second book in The Friendship Letters series. While Letters of Comfort can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading Letters of Trust first. It will allow you to get to know the characters and their back story. Letters of Comfort is a touching tale with an appalling accident, grappling with grief, a horse whisperer, workplace woes, helpful letters, a profound promise, and a gentle God.

This novel revolves around the struggles of depression Doretta has to deal with after a tragic accident. After the accident, it's interesting to see how the different characters handled their grief. Loved the support Eleanor gave Doretta through her letters. Busyness is not the answer but a closer walk with God is as shown through this story. This novel will touch the hearts of readers. Recommended.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. Another wonderful book by this author. I was so lucky to receive an arc copy of the first book in this series so it was just like visiting old friends. No matter how many other books I read before the next one in the series comes out, I always feel like I am able to just pick up because the books are memorable to me. I loved all the characters and I enjoyed the storyline also. I also love how the author will use an Amish word and then will use the English version in the next sentence so the reader knows what it means. I highly recommend this book.

When in the darkness of pain, loss and despair anyone can lose sight of the work God is doing. Wanda Brunstetter once again draws on her personal experience in life and writes a story involving another very serious condition that affects many people in various walks of life, including the Amish. Readers were introduced to the sweet and loving character of Doretta in the first book in her series that focuses on a trio of friends who boost one another up with letters. The series focuses on letters from friends, mainly Eleanor, this time, who tries hard to send comforting messages to her dear friend in mourning.
Two days prior to their wedding Doretta and her fiancé, William, are in a terrible accident that severely injures her and takes his life. The story moves forward as the happy young woman is thrust into a deep depression. I received an advanced reader's copy from the publisher through NetGalley and this is my personal and unsolicited opinion of the book. Depression is a potentially life altering condition that anyone should take very seriously. It is common in the kind of situation that takes place in the story. Severe injuries or illness, diagnosis of a medical condition and especially when there is loss of life. Doretta feels that her future has been finished, her promise to love only William for her lifetime becomes a near obsession as she mourns her lost love.
The story has a darkness to it. Mourning can be a dark place. It has a realistic take on how a person can react to such devastation. I like that the author didn't gloss things over. She added characters, including William's twin brother, Warren, who is also in mourning, using his own method of dealing with loss. There are others who are either overly concerned, a few who look to their faith in belief that God will carry the woman through, and a character so full of herself that she has no reasonable thought for others. This is a good story with solid scripture to help the characters and the reader.
I look forward to the next book in the series.

Doretta enjoys writing letters and corresponding with her friends to share friendship and to offer encouragement to one another. When a horrible accident changes Doretta’s life, it is Eleanor’s turn to comfort her best friend and help her through her trying times.

Through the support of Eleanor, her family, friends as well as her faith, Doretta is able to see light again amongst her darkest days.

I enjoyed this book very much and recommend it to lovers of Amish romance.

3.5 stars

As is typical of a Brunstetter book, it's a sweet, clean read story. While a bit predictable at times, this book is encouraging. I really enjoyed the letter angle of the story. Heavy topics, such as depression and alcoholism, are addressed. A key reminder of turning to God is present. This is first in a series.

Thank you netgallery for this ARC. My friends all know I love an Amish story. They always warm your soul. This book is the first I have read by the author Wanda Brunstetter. The story read more modern than other authors I have read, with most characters working off the farmstead and away from home. It wasn't focused on the church and Amish belief as others but focused on events and struggles that were difficult to overcome. Every relationship between all the characters in this story were unique and there wasn't a feeling of you would know how one would respond because "that's the Amish way". It was lovely to read an Amish story that had no mention of shunning and consequence for not holding the Amish belief but focused on reinventing and rebuilding yourself and relationships with all those around you, they are ever changing and evolving. Thank you Wanda Brunstetter for allowing me to be absorbed into this world and see it slightly differently to before.

This is a sweet story even though it was somewhat predictable. These books have been pretty heavy and it felt like a dark cloud over much of the book. The highlight of the book was definitely the letters and encouragement that Eleanor sent to Doretta.

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Letters of Comfort by Wanda E. Brunstetter is a great story of loss and healing. Doretta is about to married to William when a tragic buggy accident occurs just days before the wedding. Doretta is severely injured and unconscious; William does not survive. Doretta us thrown into a deep depression when she awakens and finds the l9ve of her life has been killed. She sinks into a deep depression and turns her
back on God. Can anyone help her navigate this dark time and come through it?
I found this to be an inspiring story of love, loss and eventually healing. The book deals with depression in an honest and straightforward way makes it easy to understand though the characters are at a loss as to how to help especially when their efforts are rejected. There is a happy ending for Doretta however.
I received an advance copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I am enjoying this series by Wanda Brunstetter. This book focuses on Doretta who has experienced a tragedy and goes into a deep depression. Her friend Eleanor sends her many "letters of comfort" to encourage her and to help strengthen her faith and pull her out of her depression. A visit to Eleanor helps Doretta with decisions she needs to make about her future which include her deceased fiancé's twin brother. I highly recommend this book and series. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

I have found the premise of this series to be interesting, exchanging letters by the Anish certainly isn’t new or unique, but having a novel written in this way held my interest. Doretta Schwart who we met in the first book offered encouragement and friendship to her friends by writing letters each month sharing her positivity and being there for those she cares for. In this novel, she is the one in need of positivity, friendship, and caring to get her through a difficult time.

Eleanor is there for Doretta just as Doretta was there for her during a difficult time. I felt so bad for the heartache and trying times that Doretta faced after the loss of her fiancé and the depression she suffered with. The support of Elanor, family, and friends along with her faith finally brings the light back to her darkest days.

Overall, I thought this book was engaging and the characters are ones you genuinely care about.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary of this book. All opinions are my own.

This is the second book in the Friendship Letter series .

Doretta Schwartz, along with friends, write letters containing their lives, struggles, and love. Doretta has always felt it to be a type of ministry, however, when her fiancé, William, dies, she changes from a very cheerful person, to one that struggles with a deep depression.

William’s twin brother, Warren, also is deeply grieving.

As time passes and Doretta and Warren become more friendly, feeling arise that neither are ready or capable of dealing with.

Will past promises keep Doretta from moving on with her life, and William from feelings of guilt?

I enjoyed this book very much and recommend it to all lovers of Amish romance.

Thanks to Barbour and NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Doretta enjoys writing letters and corresponding with her friends to offer encouragement and a shoulder to lean on. When her best friend Eleanor went through her own trying times, she reached out to Doretta by way of letters, telling her of her struggles with her newlywed husband, in which Doretta responded with advice. Suddenly, Doretta’s life is turned upside down by the tragic loss of her fiancée, William and Eleanor decides to return the favor of writing letters of comfort to Doretta. Even though Eleanor lives in a different county, she can tell through abrupt conversations and lack of response to her letters that Doretta has slipped into depression. When Warren, William’s twin brother, reaches out to Doretta to offer support even though he is struggling with his own loss of his brother, they begin to develop a relationship. Will this sudden friendship be enough to pull Doretta out of her depression? How will Warren’s relationship with Doretta affect his relationship with his girlfriend Margaret? Please read Letters of Trust first so you have a complete understanding of who the characters are.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review. All words and opinions are my own.

Doretta proved to be a faithful friend during the darkest time of Eleanor’s life. But when a horrible accident changes Doretta’s life forever just days before her wedding, it is Eleanor’s turn to comfort her best friend. Broken in body and spirit, Doretta spirals into deep depression. Unable to find her way out, she questions her faith in God and doubts her future can hold anything good. Eleanor’s encouraging letters go unanswered, until circumstances bring Doretta to a place where she can see things in a new light, and she finally reaches out to her friend, and God, for help. God has a plan for her future that may not be what she imagined, but it is a wonderful gift.
In book one of The Friendship Letters series, Brunstetter brilliantly handled the difficult topic of alcoholism, drawing from her own experiences with her father. In this book, she addresses depression based on growing up with her mother’s bipolar disorder. Everyone processes grief and loss in his own way. What matters is Who we turn to during our worst times. God can lift us out of our despair when we finally give up trying to do it all on our own. I eagerly looked forward to this sequel, and it was worth the wait. I would love to see more in this series.
