Another great book from Rosanne Parry. I love recommending these books to readers of any age because you learn new information about the animals in the story and the story keeps you engaged throughout. Looking forward to reading more of Rosanne's work in the future.

Sky is a horse born free, and although life in the wild isn't always easy, he will always love to run. He appreciates his freedom all the more after it's been taken from him: he's captured and trained to run for the pony express. But Sky is a clever horse, and when he sees a young boy fleeing the express, he makes up his mind to flee too, searching for his home waters and a way to bring his family back together.

I'm not a huge fan of reviewing all the ways humans have messed up the environment, but this book takes a careful hand to the topic and focuses on believable horse characteristics and factual information. The writing is beautiful and clever, and the storyline inspiring. I even liked the synthesized voice of this audiogalley, which somehow managed to capture the curious nature of this horse without ever getting too down. Overall, a fun little story with a truly endearing character. This book also offers a lot of room for continued discussion.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

My nine year old son read this title. He is a voracious reader. He has previously read Black Beauty. He loves horses, which is what made he want to read this book. He considered this one just okay. The historical element of the Pony Express was interesting to him... with moments that were exciting, but mostly he considered it slow.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving us the opportunity to read this book!
