Full of twists and turns which I love in a book but it did feel a little rushed towards the end.

I don’t know if there will be a sequel to this but that’s how I felt the book ended and would love to read more!

A very clever plot which I thought I had guessed where it was going......................How wrong could I be !!!
Even the ending was a "What the ......................!!!!!" moment. Rona's best book yet and one I will definitely recommend .
Many thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC

And Breathe! WoW............The Bigamist by Rona Halsall was a Superb book and one of the best I have read so far this year. It was Brilliant from start to finish, with cracking twists and turns throughout and with a Superb twist at the end. This was a book I could not put down and I did not want to end.

If you want a great holiday read with brilliant characters that will have you fooled and then shocked whilst you learn more about them!

So don't judge - let this book take you on a roller coaster ride.......Hope you make it to the end of the book without shouting out aloud!!!

Rona Halsall is an author that always writes superb books Bit her latest The Bigamist was her best.......

I highly recommend this book..........5 Glowing Stars!

Big Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a bit of a wild ride! I was considering DNF'ing up until about 45% because it all seemed so obvious and predictable, but I'm glad I stuck with it because the plot took a big left turn!

I will say that I hated Emma pretty much from the very start, and I only hated her more and more as the story progressed. There were some loose ends, the beginning and endings both seemed rushed, when devastating things happened the characters didn't react appropriately (they would get over things and move on so easily) and some parts you needed to suspend reality really, but overall quite the read!

When Emma meets Sam she knows he is the man for her. But does Sam feel Emma is the only woman for him? A phone call will lead Emma to want answers but can she handle what she hears?

This book had twists and turns and I was wondering what was going on. However, while we are led to believe one thing I found myself being unable to trust any of the characters.

Halsall left me with an unexpected ending and I am a little unsure how to feel, but this did not take away from the novel and I simply want more. A great novel that will leave you wanting to turn the page.

This was a wild ride from the first chapter. Whilst the blurb and cover seem to give so much away, at the same time it gives nothing away and that was definitely my favourite thing about this book. The characters are well written, the pacing is perfect and it ended up leaving me gobsmacked. So good

This was such a great psychological thriller!!

The story starts with Emma meeting a man named Sam and the two start a relationship. Soon Emma gets pregnant and one day when she calls Sams number, a woman answered the phone claiming she is Sams wife. Is Sam leading a double life?

This was a fast paced thriller with lots of unexpected twists and turns. The author has written very well that the reader feel like they are watching some thriller movie and being on the edge of the seat. All characters are highly unreliable and untrustworthy which made the story bit compelling as to who is actually telling the truth. Emma is an unreliable character and so this made the story enjoyable. The ending to me was a bit confusing but unexpected. Overall this thriller worth five stars!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the arc. This review is based on my honest opinion only

As soon as Emma joins a bereavement group, she meets Sam. Sam is the brother of a woman named Faith, who is running the group. Emma and Sam fall in love and not only do they marry, but she soon becomes pregnant with his child. They couldn’t be any happier. Meanwhile, as an architect, Sam talks Emma into building her dream home. He is a very busy man, because not only is he building homes, married to Emma, but his work takes him away from home almost every single weekend.

One day while flipping through a magazine, Emma finds a photo of a painting that belongs to her, and that she thought was in storage, and she is beyond shocked. So she tracked down the now owner of the painting, and when she talks to the woman, the woman says she is Sam’s wife. How could this be, because isn’t Emma his wife? Well Emma wants answers and answers is what Emma plans on getting.

As I was reading as a story where the husband is a bigamist, my interest was definitely piqued. Sam is definitely hiding something from Emma but we soon learn that Emma has her own secrets. To say that I was shocked is an understatement. I am rating this book four stars because I am noticing more and more books are having an open ending which either leaves you speculating, or hoping for a second book. Other than that, this was not a solid read by Rona Halsall and I am looking forward her next book.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Emma finds love at a bereavement group, she lost her mum a few years ago, has suffered a miscarriage and her husband has been in an accident. Sam has lost his wife, they are introduced by Sam’s sister, Faith, who runs the bereavement group.
Emma and Faith become friends and before long Emma and Sam are dating, Emma can’t believe how lucky she is to have found love again.
Before long Emma is pregnant, they move in together and Sam who is an award winning architect is planning to build them a dream home.
Here begins a clever, if a little far fetched, game of cat and mouse, Emma becomes suspicious of Sam when another woman answers his phone, he is also secretive about the progress on their new home, she is concerned as she had given him a large sum of money from her husband’s insurance payout. Everything starts to go wrong, Emma has secrets, Sam has secrets, can Emma trust Faith, she feels alone with no one to turn to.
There are a few twists as the story unfolds, I felt the story was unbelievable and there were huge gaps towards the end, I felt there was chunks of the story missing and the ending was rushed and flat. I did not like any of the main characters and could not decide who irritate the most.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Bookouture for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review. My first book by this author.

Well The Bigamist was quite the page turner. It was a really good read but at times there were so many twists and turns that I started to feel a bit dizzy and struggled to keep the story straight in my head. I did enjoy it and the ending was quite the surprise.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Bigamist' by Rona Halsall.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Rona Halsall, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 5th July 2023.

This is the sixth book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'Her Mother's Lies', The Ex Boyfriend', 'The Guest Room', 'The Liar's Daughter' and 'The Wife Next Door' and highly recommend them all.

This novel consists of a prologue and 48 chapters set over 5 parts. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

Wow!!!! Well done Rona on another amazing success!!! An absolutely fantastic unputdownable psychological thriller. Extremely well written as are all Rona's books I have previously read with vivid descriptions that absorb you into the storyline. The storyline is chillingly realistic and it kept me on the edge of my seat and then on the edge of my bed until late at night as I just could not out it down!!! I really enjoyed trying to work out who was telling the truth and who was the real bigamist throughout this drama packed page turner. Just when I thought I had it all worked out, yet again, Rona proves that she is a writing legend and proves me wrong yet again!!! I will never admit that to my partner mind as he knows I am always right but a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Rona for proving me wrong!! I have read countless crime and psychological thrillers so it is getting harder and harder to surprise me but Rona manages it every single time without fail!!! I was captivated throughout and the storyline was absolutely rammed with secrets, loss, love, deceipt, suspense, tension, murder, twists , lies and red herrings all the way up until the very perfect ending. It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done, which with Rona it always is!) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture. The characters were very strong and realistic but also very unlikeable!!! It is normally hard for me to enjoy a book but dislike the characters but this is something else that Rona has an amazing talent with and regardless of how I feel for her characters she hooks me in each and every single time and I cannot wait to get dragged back into another one of this amazing authors books!!

Congratulations Rona on yet another HUGE success and for, yet again, managing to shock me when many fail. This would make an epic movie that I would love to see come out!! This is the exact reason you are one of my favourite authors and here's to your next success 🥂!!!

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and first chapter of Rona's 'One Mistake' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!

Overall an addictive, page turning, epic and action packed psychological thriller that will shock you throughout!!

Dnf - it just didn't hook me. It was a slow start and I gave it a few chapters to pick up, but it just didn't give enough to make me want to keep going and find out how it ended.

Rona Halsall is the Queen of the twisty, morally complex domestic thriller. One of my go-to authors, I don’t even read the synopsis anymore as she never fails to deliver a taut and tense story filled with unexpected twists. Her latest novel, The Bigamist, is no different, keeping me on my toes from start to finish.

The story is told in three parts by Emma. When it opens, she is eight months pregnant and excitedly anticipating the birth of her first child. But a call to her husband, Sam, turns her world upside down when another woman answers and she claims that SHE is actually his wife. But we soon learn that there is even more to this story; Sam isn’t the only one keeping secrets, and Emma also has something to hide…

Addictive, emotionally-charged, and surprising, I couldn’t put this down and flew through it in just a few hours. Well written, cleverly plotted and immersive, it had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. And the twists. Wow. This was jam-packed with so many of them that I got book whiplash! Every time I thought I might know where the story was going, Halsall delivered another jaw-dropping twist that forced me to reevaluate everything I thought I knew. How does she do that?! And that ending…Omg! I’m still reeling.

I’ve talked before about Halsall’s talent for writing morally complex characters that are easy to relate to, and Emma is a perfect example. As a reader we are put in her shoes, making us feel everything she does so we can empathise with what she’s going through. By giving us that connection to her I felt less judgemental when she made some of her desperate decisions and continued to root for her even after learning her secrets. And speaking of her secret - I did not see that coming! Even with the breadcrumbs Halsall sprinkled into the story it completely blindsided me.

Emma and Sam’s whirlwind relationship is full of red flags and love bombing. Even without knowing he was a bigamist from the start, I would have been suspicious and wished I could tell Emma to run. Through their relationship, Halsall explores coercive control and reminds us how easy it is to get so caught up in the first flush of love that we ignore the signs something isn’t right. We see how anyone can find themselves in that position and how things can snowball into the crazy mess Emma finds herself in.

Dramatic, gripping and unpredictable, I highly recommend this first-rate thriller.

If you want a book with so many twists and turns that it makes you dizzy then this is it.
It’s a very good read although I must say at times I felt the writing was a little amateurish.
But all in all, I really enjoyed it.
Thanks Netgalley.

The Bigamist is a completely unputdownable psychological thriller. It’s one of the best thrillers that I’ve read in a while. This book drew me right in from the prologue and I didn’t want to put my kindle down until I had finished reading it. Oh my word so many twists and turns. One had me actually gasping out loud and I had to scroll back on my kindle to make sense of it in my head. Superbly done by the author. All the characters were well developed but which ones can you trust. You need to read this brilliant book to find out. I would give this more than 5⭐️ if I could.

This book had so many twists and turns it was almost hard to keep up! There was a few chapters in the middle I wanted to give up and not finish, but I’m so glad I stuck it out! The ending was jaw dropping too!
