Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

In the bustling pace of modern life, it's easy to get lost in the noise and forget the simple joys that make life worth living. Michael Zajaczkowski's "The Owner's Manual to Life" is a beacon of hope in this chaos, offering readers a chance to pause, breathe, and reassess their priorities.

Zajaczkowski's book is not just another self-help guide; it's a heartfelt conversation with a wise friend who has been through the trenches and has come out smiling. With a blend of humor and gravity, the author presents 100 practical strategies that promise to transform the way we approach our daily lives.

From learning to trust oneself to dealing with difficult people, the book covers a wide spectrum of scenarios that often lead to stress and anxiety. What sets this manual apart is its lighthearted tone and the author's ability to make profound insights feel like common sense. It's as if Zajaczkowski is gently nudging the reader towards a happier, more fulfilled existence.

One of the most compelling aspects of the book is its emphasis on mindfulness and gratitude. The author reminds us that life is "rich and full of wondrous presents," and it's up to us to "untie the ribbons" of these gifts each day. This metaphor is a powerful call to action for anyone who feels overwhelmed by life's demands.

"The Owner's Manual to Life" is a kind and meaningful book that doesn't just tell you how to live but shows you through its own example. Reading it feels like smoothing out the bumps in the road, turning life's peaks and valleys into gentle rolling hills.

Michael Zajaczkowski's work is a must-read for anyone looking to reduce stress and increase happiness.

I think this book would be better suited for a younger audience. A lot of it was stuff people my age would know. It does have a lot of positive elements for people starting out.

The author of this book would like readers to be able to live life with more peace, joy and contentment. He notes that, while some people have a natural grace and equanimity, this is not true for all of us. However, he believes that we can all work toward that and this book is meant to help. The author wants to teach us how to problems solve with grace and patience. He does this with one hundred tips and many quotes. Just a few of these include Focus on the twenty-four hours ahead of you; Look out the other person’s window; How to guarantee you’ll be unhappy and many more.

This book can be read in order or just dipped in and out of. Readers will see which entries speak to them.

Many thanks to NetGalley and HCI Books for this title. All opinions are my own.

I didn't feel like this book met my expectations. It's a big thing to give a book a title like this, so I was super excited to read it, but I didn't really feel it. I've read many self help books, so maybe that doesn't help. I think it's a good book for high schoolers though! I think i would have loved it in high school. For now (I'm 24) it just didn't really match

Although I did enjoy this book I did not find it quite as inspiring as I thought I would. I gave it to my teen grandaughter who absolutely loved it, told all of her friends about it and keeps quoting pages to anyone who will listen to her. Maybe it was just me then !

The Owner's Manual to Life is a very easy read. My favorite part of the book were the quotes used throughout. The tips he gives are very simple and easy to follow.

This is a book of practical tips and simple strategies to help reduce stress and anxiety, and it's written in a way that's both informative and inspiring. It focuses on different aspects of stress reduction and happiness, and there are quotes, stories, and exercises to help readers apply the info.

There are some gems in this book, but the meandering way the author goes about them makes this book feel more juvenile than the author might have originally intended. Not that this is a bad thing however, and I think this is a good book for a high-schooler or soon to be college grad rather than anyone much older and established. Finally, this book like a cross between stoicism and mindfulness but explained through quotes and in really simple terms. It's a fine book, and I think flipping through this, one could find specific ideas that work and resonate for them.

The Owner's Manual to Life by Michael Zajaczkowski provides the reader with 100 practical, often lighthearted, and immediately useful tips, strategies, and techniques to help reduce stress and anxiety and to discover the sense of peace and happiness a person has been looking for.

Some of the tips that resonated with me were:
1. When one door closes, another opens, but it can be tough in the hallway. That is quite true. It's waiting for the other door to open that can cause unwanted and unneeded stress, but it's also what happens between the door closing and the next one opening that can be unsettling.
2. Don’t let yesterday use up too much of today. Great advice to not dwell on what cannot be undone but take what you have learned and move forward.
3. Feelings are not facts.
4. Live life with more peace, joy, and contentment.
5. Look out the other person’s window; this was a nice story and a good reminder that we don’t know what others are going through and to show some empathy and compassion.
6. I don’t have a rewind button in my life, but I do have a pause.

I really needed this book to learn to shift my mindset, to take a deep breath, and to know that this too shall pass rather than feel like a dark cloud is following me around and wreaking havoc on my life.

Some sage advice was to develop a healthy habit of searching search for and discovering the many gifts, joys, beauty, and surprises that each day offers.

You don't have to read this cover to cover. The lessons can be read out of order. I found some of the tips very helpful. I enjoyed reading this book.

I wanted to like this book. The titles/quotes are great and there's a lot of wisdom. However, I do think it's intended for a younger audience (like Chicken Soup for the Soul books). Also, I found the author swaying back and forth on some topics. Instead of a book, this could work much better as a mini video series or even a planner with bits of wisdom for each day!

One hundred life lessons that may have slipped your mind as you go about living, is the best summary that comes to mind when talking about this book.
It's the kind of book that you can read on a commute, on a weekend, or take in one lesson a day depending on what works for you.
You'll have heard of some of the lessons, but not the story that the author shares accompanying it-so that's what sets it apart.
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC, in such times we need a reminder that living is beautiful and worth it, and this book gave me that feeling.

Great reminders of life's little lessons! Not much new or mind blowing, but a nice afternoon pick me up.
