This is book 2 in the La Rosalinda collection. This is a vivid story of a private grief, a secret painting, and one woman’s search for hope. Lillian visited Rose house 4 years ago soon after losing her husband and 2 children in an accident. Now she goes back and discovers a painting of her crying in the gardens. As the mystery surrounding the portrait becomes entangled with her estranged sister and the accident that claimed the lives of her husband and children, Lillian is forced to rethink her assumptions about what really happened that day.
Slightly more mystery than book 1, Ruby among us, this is a great story of human endurance.

Rose House is all about remapping one’s life. Lillian has lived with grief it’s like a comfortable coat. When she has the chance to love anew it’s like she was self sabotaging it so she could continue to cloak herself in sorrow. There is no timetable for grief, but I think some people find it easier to mire themselves in it instead of getting on with the business of living.
Kudos for Truman who had the patience to wait it out.
I didn’t much like Geena and thought Lillian did what she has to do at the time.

The Rose House is a nice book. I enjoyed the characters and the setting. Definitely some twists and turns that leave the reader guessing.

This is the sequel to a previous book - Ruby Among Us, which I enjoyed, so I decided to take a look at this one. I liked this one as much as the first. It was beautifully written, almost like painting a picture in the mind of the reader. There were some different characters in this one, but I warmed to them just as much as the characters in the previous book.
