A cute, colorful story that will be a great read for children! For kids who want to learn about marine transportation, this will be a good introduction for them

I enjoyed that this book is from the point of view of a container ship. It discusses everything the ship carries and experiences. the ship may be so big, but it is such a small part of the process. Kids would need prior knowledge of shipping containers to really understand this book.

This is the perfect book for anyone with kids in the maritime industry. With much of the population unaware of how large of an impact maritime shipping has on the global economy, this is a wonderful tale for kids to have an idea of how these goods arrive. Suitable for ages 5+.

"I Ship" by Kelly Rice Schmitt is a great pick for little ones that are fascinated by monstrously large machines and modes of transportation. I can see kids wanting to pore over the illustrations to catch all the details of what goes on inside the ship and the people who work on a cargo ship!

Raise your hand if you daydream about cargo ships...anyone? Well, you will after reading this fascinating picture book, I Ship: A Container Ship's Colossal Journey by Kelly Rice Schmitt. I didn't know I wanted to know more about what I didn't know!

Kids of all ages will enjoy the tale, as a massive cargo ship narrates its life hauling containers across the ocean. Readers will learn about the docks, the loading and unloading process, and the many items hauled across the globe via ship - as well as how the ship and its crew cope when problems arise. Even more information appears on the last couple of pages, cheerily separated in multicolored rectangles (hmmm...cargo containers?).

This will be a wonderful addition to most elementary school libraries! It's an engaging, entertaining study of a topic most people never consider.

I wanted to provide appropriate feedback on the book "I Ship," so I decided to read it to my 2-year-old son. After reading it, I found that we both enjoyed the book. Personally, I found the text of the book to be more engaging than my son did, he is still too young to fully comprehend most books. However, to him, the true measure of a good book is if it rhymes and if it has cool artwork/pictures. In the case of "I Ship," it meets both of these criteria. The illustrations in the book are really cool, and although I typically prefer books with photographs, "I Ship" allows us to search and find objects and boats in the artwork.

"I Ship" is a beautifully illustrated story of a container ship moving from port to port. Straightforward dialog pairs with detailed illustrations to tell the story of the ship at sea, what it's carrying, and why it goes from place to place. With some gentle suspense as the ship encounters a thunderstorm at sea, I think this will be an engaging book for little ones, especially those that love planes, cars, trains, and things that go. I especially loved the end pages that give an overview of international trade, jobs related to the story, and some fun facts about container ships- as well as an awesome seek and find on the endpapers. I will most certainly be recommending this book as an addition to our collection.

I loved the labels and colorful illustrations. The story stays with just enough explanation to keep young children interested. I liked the length of the book and it would work nicely as an introduction for art drawings or project. I plan to use this book when it comes out with my students.

I Ship is an educational journey around the world with a huge container ship. We get to see what it takes for goods to move around the world in the global economy. We visit the port for loading, the canal that was blocked and the long way our ship needed to take on a detour to deliver the stuff it was carrying. Then came the long voyage, the loneliness at sea, big storms, and finally reaching the destination port.

This was a fun story told in rhyme, and the blocky illustrations were perfect with the containers on the ship. This book is a wonderful lesson to understand that many of the things we buy and use come from far away, and the journey to get it to us is not simple or easy. In a global economy, it's important for kids to understand this. Wonderful book for homes, classrooms and libraries!

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this advanced review copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review on the book!

Transportation books are a hit at my library and I cannot wait to add I Ship to our collection. I Ship follows a container ship on its journey to deliver different goods and resources to schools, hospitals, and other community spaces. Along its journey, the ship runs into different challenges, such as travel delays and weather conditions, but the crew and the ship itself remain calm and steer the ship to where it needs to go. There is a FAQ section and glossary in the back to explain terms used in the book, the purpose and impact of container ships, and the different jobs folks may have working on these ships. The illustrations are simple and colorful. There is not too much text on each page and what text there is flows pretty well. This is a fun and informative read that will appeal to young readers (and the adults reading to/with them)!

I Ship was a fun picture books for kids that could be used in many different ways. It was neat to see the shapes, colors, transportation, goods and services and so much more incorporated into one picture book. This is a book that I know littles will love and I can't wait to add it to my classroom!

As a librarian, I am asked every day for picture books about transportation and this will be a wonderful addition to our collection. Although this is a fiction book, the back matter is full of fascinating facts about the global shipping trade and a merchant mariner provided input on the book! The illustrations are lovely, with an almost collage like quality. Jam Dong uses interesting artistic perspectives in some of the illustrations that make a great visual impact, like an image of the boat cut in that gives a look into what every container hold, "I'm a floating treasure trove" and a two page spread that is mostly blue with the ship viewed from above, "alone in the ocean, I'm tiny - a drop of color on a canvas of blue." I also loved at the very end the suggestion of re-reading the book as a "seek and find" activity - there's so much to discover on each page!
