Storyteller’s Market

India is a country of huge contrasts with ancient traditions and modern ambitions, as well as ultrasophicated large cities and primitive villages. Those contrasts are highlighted in the story of a family that believes itself to be cursed. In a small village, this family grows, educates its children, and works hard. They suffer setbacks but prosper over time.

Two distant cousins from this extended family meet at college in the city, marry, immigrate to the United States, and have a son. Josh, the husband and father, becomes sick with cancer. While ill, he reconciles with his intricate family history.

The story has multiple levels and paths: there is a great deal happening in this book. If you liked A Suitable Boy you would like this book also.
