What a book! Don't miss this one.
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.

This book deals with a parent’s worst nightmare. The couple lost their child unexpectedly during his sleep as a teen. The boy loved football and his family had a hard time dealing with the tragedy. The Mom begin to find ways to keep his memory and love of sports. A really heart felt book.

It is a tragedy when a parent or parents have to bury their child. Children should never pass before their parents. But this is the case when 12-year-old Tommy Mark who was driven to be the next European soccer star who goes to sleep and never wakes up. To honor her son Nikki Mark makes a push to have a nearby park developed into a soccer park. This story tells two stories the first is the effort of family and friends to get this field developed and all the potential hoops and struggles they faced to get there. The second is Nikki's efforts to cope and grieve the passing of her son. Each person who goes through a tragedy like this will find their own way to cope but this mother definitely had some unique ways to grieve. Now I like Los Angeles, California but if the place in this story was never revealed in my opinion it would be pretty easy to guess where it took place as it is so Los Angeles and this part of my struggle with ready this story along with a couple others that I will not reveal in this review. I would rate this book 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

This was a fantastic story full of love, grief and family. The story of Tommy is one all too familiar for many unfortunately, a young life gone too soon. As a soccer player who loved the game, it was amazing to see the effort this family and community put into recognizing the dream of a young athlete. Where many families would try to talk their children out of traveling so far to play, they fully supported his dreams.

This is the first non-fiction book I have read in a while, as I tend to stick more with fiction and romance. I saw this story and knew I had to read it as someone who once held big dreams with soccer like Tommy. The TM23 Foundation is amazing and inspiring to so many. The fight this family went through to get the field built in the Lod Angeles Public park was one you often do not see the background of. Seeing the hurdles puts into perspective how much love this family has for not only Tommy, but his dream as well.

Thank you NetGalley, Nikki Mark, and Union Square & Co. - A subsidiary of Sterling Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
