This is a book my heart has been longing for for such a long time. I enjoyed the different style of poems throughout the book.

We are taken on a journey through Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas. We experience jubilation, praise for the ancestors as well as the hurt and pain they experienced..

This book will be used in many schools and colleges as a means to explore Black life, feelings and history.

I loved the way this book of poetry is set up. There are 4 sections of poems, each with a combination of classic poetry and modern poetry. Each poem also has an Outro, which is a short explanation of the message each poem is trying to convey. All the poems are beautiful and I enjoyed every single one. Sometimes I didn't full understand the poems, in which case the Outro was super helpful in understanding the message. Overall, this is an amazing book of poetry.
