This is one of my favorite series with fantastic word-building and a compelling cast of characters. I love Becs, she's spunky and loyal. Asher in this book, is a bit of a letdown. Take him out of the series and the story stills reads as good as ever.
This is a fantastic series that all urban fantasy lovers should read.
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review

I came into Wish Magic not having read the previous 4 books, but the author did a good enough job cueing the reader into past events that I was still able to enjoy the story . (Though I am sure that fans of the series will be even more appreciative of seeing the continuing cast and enjoy the reminders of their adventures.)

I thought this has a decent world, with a likable MC and crew - and the djinn was a dastardly enemy. I will definitely be on the look out for the next book - there is obviously more in store for our heroine.

ARC courtesy of the publisher via NetGalley, Wish Magic is available now. This is an unpaid review.

When I started this book, I didn't realize that it was part of a series so I had not read any of the previous books. This turned out to make this book much harder to read, as throughout the entire book, I felt like I was missing something. After I finished the book, I went back and read the synopses of the previous books and this book made a lot more sense. For this reading, it was a 3 star read for me, but had I read the previous books, it likely would have been a 4/5 star read as I would have had much of the context that I was lacking. Without having read the other books, I found the plot to be as well developed as possible, the characters to be mostly likeable and the world to be fairly well built and described. I wouldn't recommend this book if you haven't read the rest of the series, but I feel like if you have, it would be a great continuation of the story!

These books are always better than I remember. This whole series has a wonderful combination of snark, heart, and mystery. Becs is a great reluctant hero.

When last we left our hero and her allies in the short story, Becs was still recovering from losing Asher in hell and trying to navigate having Gregory as an awkward friend. Yuck to the whole potential love triangle there, which Gregory manages to muck up at every turn. With the literal devil tempting Gregory, he is destined to backslide and this time it takes the form of crystal stealing/buying/collecting. Becs is still trying to figure out life without Asher when suddenly she doesn’t have to anymore - he’s back!

The theme in this book is about powers or lack there of. Becs finds herself teaming up with all manner of supernatural, but her two closest allies (or frenemies) end up being human. It’s this that drives all the terrible decision-making in this book. Gregory wants power and ends up releasing a djinn to get it. This, of course, goes all sorts of wrong and through a convoluted series of events puts Becs on the fae queen’s naughty list. But all that’s for another day - this book really does revolve around the djinn story but I have so many other questions! I am eager to see how Asher and Becs reconcile their newfound love and his lack of powers.

If you enjoy urban fantasy then this series must be on your to read list
Whilst this book can be read as a standalone I recommend reading the previous books in the series to set the world building and characters in place .

At the end of the previous book Becs is left distraught - only she and Gregory returned from Hell alive - both her father and love , Asher , died .
Now , months later , Gregory has asked Becs to take delivery of a package containing a large crystal , his reasons not exactly reassuring - is he returning to his evil "mob boss" ways ?
When Gregory accidently touches the crystal with bare hands a Djinn is released , an extremely powerful Djinn whose agenda does not align with Gregory's own desire for magic and power .
Gregory thinks he can control the Djinn but that is wishful thinking , there is only one thing to do and that is put the Djinn back into the crystal - and guess who is given the task to do just that - Becs ! Why must is always be Becs who has to set the world to rights , she who has the least power is expected to succeed
With the world around Becs in chaos the last thing she needs is another shock - Asher has returned , alive and is now a human but has some memory loss .

Who can she trust ? will they all survive not just the Djinn but also his family and Lucifer ?

This was a great read and I look forward to reading more in the future

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

This book pleasantly surprised me with its enjoyable storyline. Joining Becs, a skilled Summoner with rare abilities, made for a fun read in her adventures with demons, fae, and even Lucifer. When a mysterious crystal with a djinn inside arrives, courtesy of her friend Gregory, things get intriguingly chaotic. I had a good time with this book. The characters, especially Gregory and Asher, were well-developed and added depth to the story. Pinky, the adorable companion, was a delightful addition. Despite lacking flashy powers, Becs handles challenges impressively. The plot was engaging, offering just the right amount of action, emotions, and romance for an urban fantasy. While not perfect, I'm curious about what's next in the series!

Four and a half
If you enjoy urban fantasy then do yourself a huge favour and add this author to your must read list. This definitely works best if you read the books in order but each one does tell a whole story with a happy for now kind of ending. What you get is a tightly woven, yet surprising adventure filled with amazing characters and huge shocks along the way. It's emotional too with a smidge of romance but for this reader it's always just so surprising that Becs is expected to quite literally save the world without really having any powers ! This was a fun read and has left me definitely wanting to read more.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

This is book 5 in 'The Summoners Kiss' series and is fast paced full.of action.
Gregory the mobster boss has caused chaos yet again for Becs by releasing a djinn. Honestly, you think this man would know better from previous books! To make things even more interesting for us readers, Ash makes a re appearance, only he's now a human.
This book brought out so many emotions and made me love Pinky even more. I also wanted to yell at Greg and Ash.
This is a great continuation in the series and looking forward to the next book. Highly recommend for fans of urban fantasy books.
I was provided a complimentary copy from Netgalley which I requested due to my interest in this book. I have provided my own honest opinion.

Another winner! This series stays strong with the return of Asher and magical hijinks with the whole magical crew. Of course the resident gangster is causing trouble in a big way. Can't go wrong with this one, and can stand alone, but you really should read them all!

I have this habit of forgetting how much I enjoy an author until I read another book by them, and this is one such author. I was so very happy to be back in Becs world, and boy is she in for it in this one. I had so many emotions in this one, and I enjoyed every one of those emotions: Gregory and Asher just make me want to smack them, I want to cradle Pinky, and I want to just have a discussion with Joey. And really so much more. This was a roller coaster ride that I didn’t want to get off, and now I’m anxious to see how the end (Jemma, Jemma, Jemma) is going to affect the next book. This is a wonderful installment to the series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
