Another brilliant book by Anne Ursu, featuring all the things we’ve come to love about her work: lyrical, engaging writing; humor; atmosphere; and authentic MG characters. This one has spooky vibes. Young readers will love it.

Middle school is hard, it's even harder when you've just moved into a new house that just might have a ghost in it's walls thats making you sicker and sicker. Violet Hart and her family are moving into the house on Katydid Street... from the moment she steps into the attic she knows something is off, especially with the creepy wallpaper but she's hoping it's just nerves. Violet is already dealing with a lot, with trying to navigate friendships (both new and old), a older moody grumpy sister and the fact that she has a stepdad now as well as the fact that her body for some reason is getting sicker and sicker and her nightmares are getting worse. Violet doesn't now what is happening to her but she knows it has something to do with the house... or rather someone and now she'll have to find a way to save herself before it's too late. This was such a fun and creepy story!! It really captures the changing nature of friendships and the anxiety of trying to figure out your place in school as well as creating a spooky story! This is the perfect reads for fans of Coraline and spooky middlegrade books!
