This was a story with a little magic and lots of community help. The download format gave me some difficulty with a lot of blacked out pages and then when I would go back there was a few more written pages. I think this lead to my 3 star rating. Tessa is a real estate agent and buys a house that is put on the market. It needs a lot of love. Lots of obstacles stand in her way but she preservers and there is a happy ending.

I LOVED the newest installment in the magical realism series - Jennifer Moorman is one of my new favorite authors!! While I thought Tessa was a pain in the butt in the The Baker's Man - I adored in this book. I immediately felt for her and her loss and she immediately gained a cheerleader. Its amazing to read a GOOD CLEAN magical love story - that extends beyond just the two mains - but encompasses the entire community. Thank you to Netgalley and Jennifer Moorman for an advanced copy of A Slice of Courage Quiche in exchange for an honest review

It is a well-crafted story with captivating characters. This story was heartfelt and sweet. Tessa grabbed the chance to do something for herself, but when family and friends started ridiculing her, her confidence in her ability began to wane. Paul had itchy commitment feet, and meeting Tessa brought back the joy and the need for a more permanent relationship. It took a disaster for Tessa to find her true path in life. With a bit of whimsical magic, a derelict Victorian house, and an enchanted garden, they embarked on a life-changing path.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher. I really enjoyed this book! It’s the first I’ve read of Jennifer Moorman’s and I am going to have to find her others to read next.

Tessa's condo has flooded and she needs somewhere to stay temporarily. She decides to move back with her parents but Cecelia suggests an alternative. From then, Tessa attempts to resume life as normal while the flood subsides and arranges accommodation plans. Meanwhile, she meets Paul - a rocky first encounter - and discovers magic. It takes time for the plot to commence as the story provides readers with extensive information about the characters featured, particularly Tessa and Paul. This is a character-driven story.

Tessa Andrews is a well organised person but when she receives a key to a run-down mansion all that changes for her. This is a book that is cosy, fun, mysterious, magical and easy to read. I enjoyed it for what it was but I can't say it is a favourite for me.

Fun, entertaining and enjoyable.

Thank you NetGalley and Full Moon Press for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Unfortunately, this was a DNF for me. I love the magical realism genre and I was eager to read this series, however it just didn't click for me.

A nice cozy mystery that was well written and had very relatable characters. I am looking forward to the next book in the series

I received an ebook arc from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The cover and premise was exactly what I was looking for.

This book was a steady 4 stars most of the read, until my first tear dropped. I was so caught up in the characters and what they were going through. Moorman spung a glimmering tale filled with food and small town love.

Some things were predictable but that didn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the story that was unfolding. And it was nice watching Tessa grow more confident.

This was just the touch of magical realism I needed and I would suggest this book to those that love Heather Webber and Sarah Addison Allen.

If you enjoy magical realism, especially Southern magical realism, then Jennifer Moorman is an author you should add to your TBR stack immediately.

I had the pleasure of finding her books years ago and once I heard that the Mystic Waters series would be refreshed and re-released, I knew immediately that I had to revisit the books. A Slice of Courage Quiche is the third book in the Mystic Waters series and it was as delicious as the many mouth-watering foods mentioned throughout. The plot follows Tessa, a character you may recognize from previous books in the series, as she navigates a life that has been (literally) flooded with one hard decision after another. Along the way, she learns to trust her gut and her own instincts, finds romance, and most importantly, a place to call home.

Jennifer's books always include poetic prose; descriptions of Southern architecture, food, and history that will make you feel like you're in a small town in the Deep South; and symbolism that both takes your mind on an adventure and your heart to new places. She really has a knack for taking an object - such as a skeleton key, seemingly haunted house, or a simple slice of quiche - and making it mean so much more through her mastery of magical realism. It's what attracts me to her stories over and over again and this book was FILLED with that lovely sort of magic.

From the dreamy Paul to the dreamy dishes served (Paul excluded, ha) this book was a delight to read. Tessa is a character we can all relate to at one point or another in our lives, and the cozy, hopeful small town vibes provide an escape in book form. If you're looking for a book you can read in one sitting that will leave you feeling happy and hopeful, then pick up A Slice of Courage Quiche or the first book in the series, The Baker's Man.

Thank you to Jennifer, Full Moon Press, and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.

I quite enjoyed this book as it checked off so many things I enjoy: southern fiction, yummy food descriptions, magical realism, humor and likable characters. Tessa’s life is turned upside down when her condo floods and she loses everything. She has a history of poor decision making which causes her to lack confidence in sorting out her future. I loved Tessa and her journey in this book! It was a wonderful and new story I’d never read before. It is about taking chances and having courage to follow your heart. The setting of Mystic Waters is southern perfection! The historical home, the cozy diner… I wish I could visit right now. There is a love story and so much more to enjoy in this novel. Fans of Sarah Addison Allen will love this book. I am so glad to have discovered Jennifer Moorman and will be promptly reading her other books! Highly recommend you get lost in this feel-good-magical read!

This was such an enjoyable story! I loved the setting and the characters and the magic of Mystic Water!

Tessa is a real estate agent dealing with her own flooded condo and helping all her neighbors find places to stay. She's also taken on selling a historic mansion in the area. After she settles into an apartment above the local diner, she takes on the mansion - the next thing on her list. One of many lists - she's made mistakes in her life in the past, so now she makes lists and has to have at least three people agree with her before she makes any decisions. In the meantime, the Borellis' prodigal son, Paul, a travel journalist, arrives home and wants to move into the apartment. And against her own thinking, Tessa decides to buy the mansion herself and remodel it. That's when all the magic of the area comes into play. It's such a fun story, the monologue between Paul and Tessa is entertaining.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

What a sweet and uplifting book. I enjoyed all of the nice and sometimes quirky characters in this novel. I loved the historic house and that Tessa was so passionate about it and repairing it. Just an all around feel good book with a little bit of magic thrown in.

This is a rerelease of a old book. I really enjoyed this magical realism southern book. You follow Tess and her life is upended by a terrible flood and how she recovers while buying a old historic home in need of repairs. There is a bit of romance mixed in. I will definitely read more by this author.

I really like this magical series. Tessa wakes one morning to find her condo filled with water from a flood. Needing a place to stay the couple owning the breakfast place where the bakery used to be offer her the apartment upstairs. When their son returns home after five years the magic starts to happen. A lovely read.

This is one of those books that just makes you feel good reading it. It's a lovely book about family and friends, a little romance, drama, and a touch of magic. Thanks to an untimely flood, Tessa is currently homeless when Trudy Stelle, the current owner of Honeysuckle Hollow, decides to sell the property. It is one of the oldest historical homes in Mystic Water. It doesn't take long for Tessa to realize this is the house she needs. A Slice of Courage Quiche is a gem of a Southern novel you will not want to put down until the last page is turned. Thanks to author Jennifer Moorman, Full Moon Press, and NetGalley. I received a complimentary copy of this ebook. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This book was like a home-cooked meal; warm and comforting. From the beginning, I felt at home with the characters, and at home in the setting. Food was a significant theme in this book, and that was something that I enjoyed, even if it did make me feel a little bit hungry to read it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy to review.
