Each year, for National Poetry Month, I write a column for Ms. magazine. I selected my favorite collections from the past year, and this year was one of them. I chose three words to describe each collection, and for this one, I wrote, "Birthing, haunting, hollering." I really liked this one.

Am I an expert on poetry? Absolutely not, but if Amber writes it, I’m going to read it. This collection of poems was haunting, beautiful, and powerful!

MIND. BLOWN. The best words I have to describe this are FIERCE and POWERFUL. Just WOWWWW- a whole lot of fire packed into this!

I've adored Amber McBride's YA novels-in-verse, so I knew this would be amazing. It is. I can't wait to see a finished copy with the proper formatting for the stunning poems, though.
