This was a fun read from an author duo I’d heard good things about!! Here are some of my thoughts:
- As someone who enjoys having a good amount of spice in my books, the spicy scenes were immaculate!
- Mack, the MMC, is a complete cinnamon roll with an (unexpectedly) dirty mouth. I swooned!!
- I didn’t love the FMC, Katy, at times. She could be a bit too uptight for me, but her and Mack were ADORABLE together! I think Mack balanced out Katy well because he was so easy-going.
- I enjoyed watching Katy and Mack’s relationship progress from hate to love.
- I can be picky when it comes to books that feature the enemies to lovers trope, but I actually didn’t have any issues with it in this book. However, because I don’t always like how the enemies to lovers trope is executed, I was a bit skeptical of whether I would feel any chemistry between Mack and Katy. I have no complaints though!
While this book didn’t *totally* blow me away, it was still entertaining and a nice palate cleanser. It was a solid book for me, but it just didn’t completely hit the mark. I found it to be a fun, easy read, and I thought the story was cute overall!
This book gives you a cute light take on the classic enemies-to-lovers trope. It wad a fun read, filled with witty banter and jokes.
While the story was a fun read and kept me entertained it lacked some depth.
The character development is pretty good but not the best. The characters didn't really have any growth to make you want to connect with them.
Thank you for this book!
My first thought was that it was a tad bit cliche and somewhat predictable but was still very entertaining. Katy and Mack still managed to be cute and funny. This story keeps you engaged with the humor and spice it gives. The main characters have undeniable chemistry, I enjoyed watching them go from foes to vacation fling. I was fast and fiery. However fast their relationship changed, I was hoping and waiting for a more in depth exploration of their relationship besides the initial spark. The overall story left my wanting so much more! It honestly fell flat.
I did not DNF this book for the fact that I was waiting for more that never came. I really do believe this book had so much potential to be great.
I loved Accidental Attachment from the start, yet I did not connect to this one at all. It's shorter, spicier, more overtly funny,
She gets stuck on vacation with the coworker she hates. This was funny and I really enjoyed reading it. I would definitely recommend reading this cute story.
I received a copy of this for my honest review.
Our MMC is an elementary school music teacher, and our FMC is the math teacher at his school. Every since they met, she's hated him. Which isn't great that their stand in principal just assigned them to work together to set up a career day. It's almost spring break and she is ready for vacation - except the other teacher who is supposed to go with her now has the flu. Oh well, a week alone sounds good too. Except it turns out the condo that she rented was double booked, and now she is sharing a space with our MMC. He's determined to change her mind about him, and it may be working, but will this go past their week together? Or once they return to school is it business as usual?
Mack and Katy are rivals at the office. Katy is on a vacation full of fun, sun and drinks until she learns a mix up about the room she is staying in leaves her stuck with Mack for the vacation time. Mack is a smooth dirty talking man that really leaves you hot in the best way. The couple end up finding out more about each other and that they really aren't so different. A good read.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Katy and Mack. They teach at the same elementary school. Katy and her best friend were going to Destin on spring break, but her best friend got sick and couldn’t go. Katy went by her self. As she was taking a shower, someone came into the condo. It was Mack, he had rented the condo for spring break too. They decided to share the condo. They had a great time, decided to start dating. Continued the dating once they got back home. Fell in love.
I absolutely adored the way this story kicked off & I flew through the first half while it was giving me the best of enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity vibes. There’s a good dose of grumpy(F)/sunshine(M) too!
I was hopeful I was about to see my first 5-star read of the year, but the second half of the book slipped into a few romance tropes that I don’t love & felt a little rushed overall, so while it wasn’t the 5-starrer I was hoping for, it was still an excellent romance read!
I loved the humour in this book, the writing, the dual POV, the summer holiday setting & that our mains were teachers at the same school. All an excellent premise for a story!
Thoroughly enjoyed this rom-com & look forward to reading more from Max Monroe!
Highly recommend for contemporary romance, open door readers who like their rom with a side of com.
A great read. Just enough conflict, heat, and build-up to keep you involved without it getting monotonous. The characters are relatable and their conflicts are easy to believe, none of that feeling of "just get over yourself already", or that "you have got to be kidding me, there is no reason that anyone can be that dense" thoughts when you are reading the book. A definite must read in my opinion. Everything I expect from these authors.
This book was a fun and easy read. The language in the book is a little unnecessary but the storyline was really interesting. The book will definitely hold your attention.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
There is a little bit of meeting new character overload for the first few chapters, and then it was a smooth ride.
Fun book filled with mostly fun characters. Katy reminds me a lot of my friend Kristi, who teaches 6 grade in a private school, so that was a bit odd.
Overall, it's a funny rom com set in Kimmy's condo.
I was very lucky enough to receive this book as an ebook and audiobook ARC!
Going tit for tat with the man you hate is all fun and games until things get literal…and the jerk sees you naked. My beach getaway was only supposed to include three relaxation, wine, and fun in the sun. Mack Houston, on the other hand, should have never— ever— been involved. In no uncertain terms, he’s the bane of my existence.
The thorn in my side. The sexy Mr. Good-Time Guy who drives me up the wall and my work archnemesis for the past five years. He’s the last person I want to get stuck anywhere with—it’s bad enough that I have to see him every day at work—and yet, because of a booking error (or curse of the universe, as I like to call it), I’m stuck in the same vacation rental with him for an entire week. I’m going to end up in jail. Or worse, I might just give in to the insane urge to find out if his lips are really as kissable as they look. One way or the other, disaster feels imminent.
The enemies-to-lovers trope is a beloved one in romance, and Max Monroe executes it exceptionally well. As the story progresses, the animosity between Cleo and Mack begins to shift, revealing underlying attraction and a growing connection. Their journey from frenemies to something more is a satisfying and entertaining ride.
"Best Frenemies" strikes a balance between humour, romance, and steamy chemistry. It's a lighthearted and engaging read that will have readers rooting for Cleo and Mack to figure things out and find their way to each other's hearts.
"Best Frenemies" is a fun and entertaining contemporary romance with memorable characters, witty banter, and a delightful enemies-to-lovers plot. Fans of romantic comedies and enemies-to-lovers stories will find this book to be a delightful addition to their reading list.
I definitely recommend this book!!
Rating: 4 / 5⭐️’s
This book was not my cup of tea honestly I love the redo so much more than this one. I think it was entertaining but a little cliche for my taste.
I loved this book!! It was fabulous and well done. The characters were on point and I thought the plot was well developed. I would recommend this book to others.
The authors tell you to keep seating while reading because it's a ride, and it really is!
I laughed out loud so many times while reading I was shocked!
This book is full of fantastic banter between Kate and Mack. It has some of the best tropes, and that I honestly love, enemies to lovers, close proximity, opposite attracts, and honestly some of the best scenes I've ever read. The hospital scene was my favourite, I laughed so hard I was crying.
These two though, couldn't be more different, Mack is a carefree music teacher, who saves girls in his phone book as the place where he meets them, since he meets many of them. And of course Kate, type A who never strays from the path she set for herself, hates him. Did I mention they work together and Mack is charming to everyone and Kate hates him also because of this? Because in her eyes, things are easy for him thanks to his smile and his dimples.
They acidentally end up in the same rental on spring break and Kate starts to understand that Mack is not so bad after all, and that his charm and kidness are not manifactured to get things in life, but he is actually a kind and charming person always trying to help people.
Best Frenemies is the newest book to be released by Max Monroe. It is the story of Mack and Katy, both teachers at a private elementary school in Music and Math, respectively. Mack is Thatch’s younger cousin and both teachers teach his son. Katy hated handsome Mack for a long time. His classroom was next door to hers and it was difficult to teach math to children with the distraction of a boisterous music class happening next door. Katy had a vacation planned with a friend for spring break, but her friend caught the flu and she had to go alone. However, not long after she got there, Mack also arrived. The condo had been double-booked. They either share the space or give up on the vacation, so sharing is the plan. Spending a week with Mack she learns that there is a lot for to him than the chaotic fun-time teacher she perceived him to be. This is an enemies to lover, forced proximity romance novel.
Max Monroe haven’t written a bad book yet. This book is filled with laugh-out-loud moments and crazy antics. It is also filled with steamy intimacy and emotion that makes me swoon. Mack Houston joins my list of men I would love to make my own and Katy the list of women I would love to call a friend. Both learn a great deal about themselves and each other and the authors weave all this together is the most delicious way imaginable. Finishing the book just made me hungry for more, so keep writing ladies! I recommend this book to all lovers of contemporary romantic comedy. You won’t want to put it down! I am voluntarily submitting this review after reading an advanced complementary copy of this book thanks to Max Monroe.
I am loving this series so much! Max Monroe is a great writer and the stories are so well done. I can't wait for more!

If you want to have a good time with an addictive Rom-Com that will for sure keep you glued to the pages and will make you laugh, look no further because for me, Max Monroe are the best at this for sure.
I have literally laughed out loud so many times and one particular scene was so freaky crazy and the dialogues and what was happening so hilarious, that I must have been laughing for a good whole ten minutes or so and I'm not saying that miniscule kinda laugh, but the whole blasting kind that you can't stop, and have tears streaming down your face kinda one. (Seriously I'm not even kidding)
I won't go much in the storyline because this is definitely more about the feels and just how crazy our main characters are and how their shenanigans will make you smile while being so engrossed in what's happening with them.
So Katy and Mack are fellow teachers who work at the same school. Katy teaches Math, while Mack is a music teacher and they both are so opposite to each other that you can say they are like night and day.
While Mack is an easy going and chill dude who likes to befriend everyone and anyone, likes to crack jokes and is a great guy, Katy on the other hand is a good teacher but is organised and routinely and likes things a certain way.
And she definitely hates the guts of Mack, whose neighbouring class is so uproarious, that Katy is always disturbed and hates that Mack is playing and not taking anything seriously.
In a twist of fate, when Katy lands at her holiday rental for the vacation she had been looking forward to for a long time and her bestie isn't able to come on it, due to some kinda error, Mack becomes her roomie and what was supposed to be a great holiday, she thinks will turn into a nightmare now.
Oooohh.... I loved the vacation part of the story a lot and that's definitely the place we see sparks flying both the angry ones 😅 and then the desirous ones 😚.
Mack, I loved that guy and just his sunny disposition, I felt was perfect because he never overdid anything and was an equally responsible one and a good guy, what with his ambitious Music Project. Wow, I was really in awe about his vision.
Katy, that girl is a good one at heart but knowing her background, it's understandable how she becomes the one who's had to be the responsible one for so long.
I loved how Mack becomes instant friends with Katy's dad and that scene at the end... Oh my.😅😅
Seriously, if you want to have a blast or just read a good feels kinda book, then dive head first in this crazy and gorgeous ride that will leave you with a smile on your face guaranteed but also will make your tummy hurt by laughing so hard and paired with oodles of hot 🔥 times, this one was a read to have a date with.
So looking forward to more from Max Monroe. 😍
Loved loved this one. 😁😁😁😁
Max Monroe have struck rom-com gold once again with Best Frenemies. Katy is a neurotic, Type A to the max math teacher, and she loathes her carefree, easy going coworker, Mack. After a mistake by the management results in them both booking the same condo during spring break, hilarity, tension, and steam ensues.
Tropes:
✔ Work rivals to lovers
✔ Forced proximity
✔ Only one bed
✔ Secret fling
✔ Opposites attract
✔ He falls first
Katy’s character got off to a rocky start with me. I can appreciate a neurotic heroine, but she primarily came across as uptight and judgmental, and she never gave Mack a break even in the smallest of things. However, we learn pretty early on that she is the way she is due to her childhood and past experiences, and I quickly began to see past those issues. Mack, on the other hand, was sweet, charming, and thoughtful from the get go. And while he enjoyed purposely pushing Katy’s buttons at times, Katy figured out that he was not the jerk she thought he was. Their chemistry and banter were superb, especially once Katy let her hair (and her walls) down.
While we get to see the development of Katy and Mack’s physical relationship, which is 🔥🔥🔥, I do wish we were given more progression of their friendship and emotional connection. That being said, it was clear that real feelings were developing between the two, even if we were not given in depth insight into it.
Overall, Best Frenemies is a fun, lighthearted, and entertaining read, and I would highly recommend it.
