Finlay and Vero are back! I am a big fan of this series. Book 3 was a bust but book 4 is back with the banter, action, tension, and mystery elements I love about this series!
The two girls plan a trip to Atlantic City for a girls weekend and to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loak shark, save Javi, and look for a stolen car. Finlay's ex, Steven, and her mother also insist on coming along for the ride too.
I love Elle's writing and her banter and dialogue between Finlay and Vero are some of my favorites between a detective duo. The mysteries are also fun but I've been sticking with this series for their friendship and hijinks!
This was a fun addition to the Finlay Donovan adventures! Characters have stayed true to their nature throughout the series and I look forward to more!
Elle Cosimano did it again. She was able to capture Finlay Donovan's adventures and shenanigans. Fast paced novel with Finlay as the main character that can't stay out of trouble.
I love a good mystery! I could have done without the ex drama but it did add to the mix! I love the type of relationship she has with her mother and friends. The storyline was easy to follow.
This was my first Finley Donovan book, but def won't be the last! The background information given was great and didn't make me feel that I needed the other books.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review an advanced copy of this novel. I highly enjoyed it and will be recommending it to others. Excellent series.
4.5!! Omg this one was SO much fun, and the exactly amount of absurdness and finlay/vero mess around. It felt like the series was back on track :)
While the first book is still my favorite, I'm loving following Finlay and Vero on their ridiculous adventures. This book is great if you need something a bit lighter or just want something fun to read.
This was probably my least favorite of the Finlay Donovan series, however, it was still SO funny and enjoyable!
I truly never tire from the banter between Vero and Finlay. They are such an incredibly hilarious duo that I feel like can get through anything no matter how ridiculous or life threatening. I will always read a book featuring them and I look forward to see how Finlay and Nick's relationship develop in future books.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. They are fun stories that you can get lost in. I adore Finlay and all the adventures and pickles she gets caught in. I cannot wait for the next book.
This series started out really fun. Now it's just getting repetitive. I think this will be my last, but it's been fun!
first of all, i appreciate finally and vero's relationship so much. they're hilarious sidekicks! book 4 made me love their relationship more! i loved the highlighted importance of family. and that it's ok to have some family chaos!! especially finlay's mom!! the mystery is wonderful. wish i had a friend to count on like vero
Easy to listen to on audiobook, but a bit predictable with the sequence of events and drama lining up the same as every other book in this series.
Thank you so, so much to NetGalley and Minotaur for the advanced copy in exchange for review!
Finlay and Vero’s dynamic and antics are at it again (per the end of the last book, they needed to head to Atlantic City)! I LOVE them and am here for anything Elle puts out! You have to suspend belief in this series, but her comedy is gold :)
Finlay’s ex-husband, Steven, and her mother and her kids are in tow, herin begins the comedy of errors, kidnappings, murder-solving and more.
I've read all of the Donovan series and many loose ends get tied up in this installment. However, it was left with enough of a cliffhanger that It could keep going. I can't say much or I'd spoil the main plot points, but I'm glad that Fin sticks to her guns and finally tell Steven once and for all about moving up and on with their lives.
What a fun fourth book in a series! I love reading about what Finlay Donovan and crew are up to, and this one was no different. Putting all the main characters, in a car for a road trip to Atlantic City for the weekend was such a fun concept. I found it to be truly laugh out loud funny at times. Did I have to suspend some belief, yes of course, but that just added to the hilarity. This book kept me truly on the edge of my seat and I could not wait to figure out how Finlay and Vero would get themselves out of countless situations (not sharing a lot of details because I don't want to go in to the spoilers for this book). I highly recommend this series, as I have found each book to be incredibly enjoyable. The elements of mystery and twists are so fun, and Vero's sharp wit and Finlay's grit and determination kept me coming back. I look forward to reading more books in the series in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher St. Martin's Press- Minotaur Books for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.
Elle Cosimano's Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a hilarious and action-packed escape that will keep readers guessing. The novel follows Finlay Donovan, a struggling writer who finds herself unwittingly involved in organized crime.
Cosimano's writing is witty and engaging, filled with clever dialogue and humorous situations. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and the plot is suspenseful and heartwarming. The book explores themes like motherhood, friendship, and second chances and is poignant and uplifting.
While the pacing may be uneven in places, the overall experience is delightful. The book's blend of humor, suspense, and heartwarming moments make it a perfect choice for crime fiction and romantic comedy fans. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a satisfying and entertaining read that will leave a smile on your face.
Thank you, Netgalley and St. Martin's Press | Minotaur Books, for the free advanced copy for my honest review!
A fun, if not a bit over the top, mystery sequel as per its predecessors. As always, it ended on an interesting note that would make readers want to pick up the next. While I enjoyed the book overall, the series itself is getting repetitive and has lost some of its original magic.
I really enjoyed the first two books in the series, but I have grown less interested in the later books as the characters and situations just get more far fetched.
I loved this newest installment of Finlay Donovan! There's so much to talk about, I don't know where to start! The friendship between Finlay and Vero is perfection, Finlay is obviously such a great mom, the drama is all there and beyond, the bad guys are really doing their bad guy thing, the humor is always subtle and on point, the hint of romance is just enough, the who done it element so intriguing, and the shenanigans are off the chain! Sorry for the word vomit and run on sentences, but when I read good books like this they kind of turn my brain to mush. Elle Cosimano is fast becoming a one click author for me. Very happy. 5 stars
An addictive, easy read that kept me entertained right to the very end. I look forward to more titles by this author.
