4/5 stars

This was a cute and colourful graphic novel for early readers, here to help them sort out big feelings while facing big changes. Very sweet!

One of what seems to be a set of four, this very young comic shows two of the little folk having to up camp when the human kind gives the patch of ground they call home a make-over. One is a little too quick to get worried about everything, including change, but the other sees it as a chance only for fun, something different, and a break away with friends. Therefore it's overflowing with optimism and twee jollity, but for the under-sevens will probably work just fine. The art is certainly colourful enough, and nails the manga-for-babies style. It's not ever going to be great literature, but rough-n-ready low-brow entertainment for this bracket and of this style might just be the only thing that makes a new reader, in which case it should be lauded.

I enjoyed this short book talking about how change can be scary and the uncertainty of the situation can be daunting but not all changes are a bad thing. A graphic novel for younger readers to enjoy colourful illustrations with a big adventure and lessons along the way.

Roo and the Big Garden Redo is a super cute graphic novel that is a part of the Tales of the Tiny Folk series. This short graphic novel follows the story of two tiny folk that are being faced with a big change, but how is this change going to affect them. I think that this graphic novel would be a great way to show kids that being nervous about a big change is okay, but in the end everything is going to be okay maybe even better than before! I loved the art style and how each page had my attention until I flipped to the next one. I went back and read this a few different times after my first initial read just to admire the well built characters and story plus the beautiful illustrations! After reading this I am interested in picking up more of the stories from this series. If you are looking for a short but absolutely wonderful story with a great lesson to read with your children, you may want to consider picking this one up!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This little story reminds me a lot of the graphic novel Garlic and the Vampire. And even if it wasn't as good, the vibes were still immaculate. Totally recommend it!

Change can be stressful, especially for children. This delightful story will show that change doesn't have to be bad, though, especially with the help of friends. Roo and Aco, who resemble a mushroom and acorn, find their tiny world is about the change. Roo and Aco are Tiny People who live amongst us and utilize lost and misplaced items, like buttons, to build their homes. They've grown accustomed to knowing the wildlife about them and where everything is. In other words, they are comfortable in their tiny world. That's about to change. Their garden home is about to be renovated by the humans whose land they share.

Roo, a pessimist, is distraught and fearful. Aco, far more optimistic and brave, doesn't mock Roo's concerns. Instead, Aco offers solutions. They will pack up and move to a fellow Tiny Folk's home while the renovation is done. They even face obstacles along the way but, using their brains and teamwork, they have a successful trip and, based on the adorable artwork, seem to enjoy their visit to a friends. Soon, they learn the renovation is done and head home. Roo still frets, fearing their animal and bird friends may have fled. What do you think they find when they arrive? Let's just say, it's beautiful and, hey, they even now have a swimming hole. Change can be good!

This was a sweet book with fun, colorful illustrations. The artwork is manga-esque (is that a word) in style and paints a lovely garden setting for the story. Their bird friend is lovely, too. The facial expressions of Roo and Aco are very expressive and capture their feelings beautifully. This story will help those dealing with the stress of change by showing how others deal. It's also a gentle reminder that change isn't always bad. Being worried isn't bad, either. It's how one handles the worry that matters and Roo and Aco are an excellent example of how friends can help you through it with understanding and, yes, teamwork. I liked the guide questions at the end designed to help a parent/reader guide children through their emotions. Thanks #NetGalley and #Capstone - #StoneArchBooks for this lovely moment in that splendid garden. It was a definite pick-me-up for me today as I look out my window at some new-fallen snow.

Very adorable and very short book! I love it! I want to be an Aco but I’m really more of a Roo. I could use a friend like Aco.
It’s got a good lesson about reacting to bad situations, trying to find creative solutions, staying calm, and making the most out of things. It’s a very cute relaxing wholesome little story with cute cottagey graphics. 🍓

Thank you NetGalley, for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Aco and Roo are Tiny Folk! Tiny Folk live outside in nature, making friends with bugs and small animals and using the things we lose, to turn them into useful items.

When they spot a human, with a wheelbarrow full of tools and bricks, they soon realize that they need to pack up their houses at the side of the garden, because it’s being redone.

This makes Roo anxious and worried but Aco is so great with him, all through the book. He acknowledges Roo’s feelings and helps him to stop worrying too much, in the nicest way!

They decide to go live with their friend Iggy for a while, until the work is finished. But along the way, they face an obstacle and it’s because of Aco calming Roo (who panicks), and their creative teamwork, that they get through it.

The cover is so colorful, interesting and cute! And the illustrations inside are really well done. The illustrations of the somewhat bigger animals like birds, are gorgeous!!

The questions at the end of the book are so thoughtful and educational.

A short but important, cute and fun story!

I can't believe how cute this is! The main characters are creatures the resemble an acorn and a mushroom! Aptly named Aco and Roo. I loved the little jokes about how snail mail takes too long, and the expressions on Roo and Aco's faces! The adventure was so fun to follow, though maybe a little short (but the story isn't long anyway so it was to be expected).

I thought it was really cool that there was also a lesson! that worrying about things is okay, but that you have friends to help you through it. I can'twait to read more about Roo and Aco, and Iggy and everyone else!

Such a cute and cozy graphic novel that reminded me of the The Secret World of Arrietty and the Borrowers. I loved the illustrations and the colors. The story is so heart-warming about friendship, helping each other in difficult moments with the cutest creatures.

It was such a cute graphic novel, I really admire the art style and all the characters were illustrated very well. The story was as such not much but definitely good enough for young readers. The pictures were captivating so I feel the age group that the book and the author aims to cater to will find it appealing and worth the time.

Thank you Net Galley for providing me with the arc of the book.

This is probably one of the most adorable graphic novels I have ever had the pleasure of reading. If you want to silly smile and forget the world for a while then this is what you need.

This is part of the Tales of the Tiny Folk series and features two Tiny Folk at the heart of it. One is optimistic and brave, the other pessimistic and full of worries. The two work together to handle the burdens life places in their way, such as humans working on their garden home and the struggles to rehome during this time.

I loved the focus on emotion that featured here and how these two individuals with their varied outlooks to life weren't devalued or ridiculed for them. Each emotion was given a place and those not conducive to success or happiness were then overcome. Despite the young age range this was aimed at, this focus meant that there was much for adult readers to take away from this without it then taking away from a younger reader's enjoyment.

The bright colour palette was very appealing, as was the abundance of nature and animals that featured throughout. The perfect bad day remedy!

This is such a cute, sweet, and wholesome story. I absolutely love the style of the illustrations. It reminds me of cartoons I grew up with back in the 1980s. This is an easy read for kids, and the story is simple to understand. I think children will really enjoy this graphic novel.

The characters are likable, and the creatures are so adorable. I appreciated how it highlighted one of the characters having a lot of anxiety, worry, and stress. Then, another character helped him to overcome those heightened emotions and calm down. The little adventure that they go on is fun as well.

I saw this is part of a series, and now I’m interested in reading the others. This book would be perfect for springtime since it revolves around a garden. This feels like a cozy fantasy and gives those cozy vibes. Highly recommend!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. These are my own thoughts and opinions.
