Very nice cookbook. Excellent photos of the final product. I will be making a few of these for sure.
This was just ok for me. No real standout recipes. Seems short for a cookbook. Not many veggie mains compared to the meat or seafood sections. Lots of unhealthy ingredients and no focus on healthier substitutions.
I love cookbooks with simple and easy recipes you can use in your everyday life. This is not that book.
This cookbook is probably a great fit for single couples or people whose children are adventurous eaters. These recipes aren't what I would consider "every day" but more like a date night in.
This may be one of my favorite cooking books so far.
Layout wise, this book is exactly what I look for in recipe books. Each recipe has a short introductory paragraph that gives us a little insight to the dish and some extra cooking tips! The recipes themselves are very easy to follow and the ingredients are clearly listed.
Every single recipe in here looks so fresh and appetizing. There is a large variety of types of foods and ingredients, while still keeping it accessible if you have a standard stocked kitchen. I will 100% be trying so many of these recipes. but the sweet potato & poblano hash with eggs is an immediate need for this week.
While I enjoyed this book and the recipes in it, the title felt a little misleading and I thought there would be more easy/life is messy/make ahead recipes. This is not to take away from the actual content of the recipes which I found delightful (Especially the deserts!). The last part (easy add-ons and menu ideas) was fantastic.
The title of this cookbook hooked me into wanting to read it. As a busy working mom to two young kids, I'm always looking for new recipes to cook. Unfortunately, I think my expectations of real life everyday cooking were a bit different than the recipes in this cookbook. Some of the recipes did sound delish and didn't seem too intimidating to cook. I loved that the author included a vegetarian section. Overall, I think this cookbook would be great for an avid foodie.
Great photos and recipes! Will definitely refer to this book for ideas. The recipes seem easy and healthy.
I'll be a bit honest, when I first began to browse the pages of "Cooking in Real Life," I was initially intimated by the various picture-perfect dishes I was seeing. But my concerns quickly began to die down as soon as I started to actually get down into the ingredient lists and the nitty gritty of the recipes. Soon enough I realized that this was exactly as advertised. Wonderful dishes covering a wide array of times of day and dietary preferences, but all remaining quite manageable not only with their components, but also the necessary steps need to get them from an assortment of ingredients and onto the table. My one complaint is that I would have liked a few more vegetarian mains to choose from here - but hopefully I'll see those in a sequel!
